UC Law San Francisco (UC Law SF) and the University of California San Francisco (UCSF) each have a rich legacy of academic excellence. UCSF is celebrated for its cutting-edge research, top-tier health professions education, and advancements in medical and health policy. Together, these institutions have created a unique educational opportunity—the UCSF and UC Law SF Master of Science in Health Policy & Law (HPL).

The HPL will equip you with essential skills to drive meaningful change in health care. Our program is designed to be flexible, with full-time or part-time options, with a comprehensive curriculum that includes policymaking, legal research, health economics, and more—all taught by distinguished faculty from both UCSF and UC Law SF.

DEGREE REQUIREMENTS

Comprehensive and Focused Learning

The Health Policy Law (HPL) program is a 24-unit online degree with a structured curriculum each semester. The program is jointly designed, taught, and conferred by UC Law SF and UCSF. HPL students participate in coursework primarily through an asynchronous, online format. As an interdisciplinary program, the HPL curriculum is relevant to a wide range of learners who may be at varying stages of their academic or professional careers.
