Become a Traditions Keeper

Since 1871, students have been making memories and keeping traditions at the University of Central Missouri. While your journey is unique, there are some experiences that all UCM students share. These traditions help distinguish our university and define what it means to be a Mule or Jennie.

Take this book with you to document your time as a student, honoring and preserving time-tested traditions and creating your own! Check off traditions as you experience them and visit Smiser Alumni Center in Elliott Student Union to earn rewards and recognition, including a Traditions Keeper medallion to wear at graduation!

Start off by simply going to orientation, stopping by the UCM Alumni Foundation at Smiser and following us on social media to become part of our #AlumFromDayOne community. � Follow and tag @AlumFromDayOne on IG. � Follow the UCM Alumni Foundation on FB. � Find the MuleNation chapter near your hometown. � Visit Smiser Alumni Center. � Take a photo with cutout Mo at Smiser. � Ring the Dummy Line bell at Smiser. � Participate in the Week of Welcome. � Go to the Involvement Fair.

� Cheer to the “Fight Song.” � Sing our “Alma Mater.”

� Attend the Get the Red Out street fair. � Attend the Military Appreciation football game and watch a Whiteman AFB flyover. � Build a Donation Creation masterpiece. � Decorate a window for Homecoming. � March in the Homecoming parade. � Attend a Homecoming pep rally. � Vote on the Homecoming theme. � Participate in Greek Week. � Attend the Founders Day picnic. � Let loose at Fun Before Finals/MuleFest. � Join the Family Weekend Color Run.

Highlander Theatre. � Watch a play at Richard Herman Black Box Theatre. � Enjoy an event in Hendricks Hall. � Attend a concert in Hart Recital Hall. � Visit the Learning Commons in the library. � Study at James C. Kirkpatrick Library. � Visit the McClure Archives and University Museum in JCKL. � Visit Skyhaven Airport off of Highway 50.

� Hit the driving range at Mules National Golf Club. � In Ward Edwards, see the flags of the 50+ nations UCM students represent. � Visit the Alumni Memorial Chapel. � Visit UCM’s Missouri Innovation Campus. � See an exhibit at UCM’s Gallery of Art and Design. � Visit the animals and learn about agriculture at the UCM Farms. � Find all the statues in UCM’s outdoor art collection. � Visit the union while The Beat is on air. � Find where “Old Elm” used to stand. � Read the Friendship Tower inscriptions.
