These one-year programs (non-degree) provide the first year of the baccalaureate program at the College of Education, Criminal Justice, and Human Services (CECH). Students completing the first year must apply to and be accepted into the program at CECH. For students who have not selected a program, Exploratory Studies provides core classes for the first year of study before transitioning into selected program.

For graduates of Ohio Technical Center programs, this associate degree completion program translates technical program clock hours into free block technical credit toward a general associate degree.

Briana James is a first-generation college student, honor graduate, student ambassador, and political science major who plans to pursue a career in law.

“I think being a first-gen college student has pushed me to advocate for myself and look for whatever my college can offer, and UC Blue Ash has offered me a lot!”

Through her excellence in the classroom and her non-stop involvement on campus

(it seems like she is everywhere), Briana was recognized as the 2023 UC Blue Ash Honor Student of the Year.

“Being named Honor Student of the Year felt surreal. It shows that all the work I’ve done has really paid off and I feel so appreciated for all the things I’ve done.”

Briana followed that amazing recognition by participating in the 2023 UC Blue Ash Study Abroad program that took her and her

classmates to England and Germany and offered courses in everyday sustainability as well as design thinking and problem-solving.

“I wanted to have this perspective to consider possible opportunities to work abroad. I believe working abroad isn’t just simply getting to live and work in a different country but rather being able to adapt your skills to a culture and society that may be different from your own.”

THE RAUF SIBLINGS

FINDING A HOME AWAY FROM HOME

After traveling thousands of miles, three siblings found a home at UC Blue Ash. Originally from Pakistan, Fatima, Zainub and Hamza Rauf have lived in multiple countries, as well as different states in the U.S. All three say they found a home at UC Blue Ash, where they have thrived as students pursuing different career paths.

Fatima Rauf said she focused on the University of Cincinnati from the beginning as she was considering her college options.

“I first became interested in UC because I really liked the co-op programs. When I looked at UC Blue Ash, I liked the culture and diversity.

It’s a very warm and welcoming campus.”

Small class sizes and affordability were other factors in the siblings’ decision to come to UC Blue Ash. They each said they are impressed with the faculty at UC Blue Ash, and not just for their expertise. Fatima said she really appreciates the personal approach.

“The professors are awesome. They are very involved in your learning process, and they take the time to get to know their students. It feels just like home here.”

The three siblings remain very close and said they plan to live in the same area as they pursue their professional goals after graduation. Regardless of where their careers take them, they know they will always have a home at UC Blue Ash.

Zainub is a scholarship recipient and a member of the Dean’s List who was pursuing a degree in the rigorous dental hygiene program at UC Blue Ash before making a switch to UC’s Cancer Registry Management (CRM) program offered through UC Online.

Fatima and Hamza are studying information technology with a focus on cybersecurity. They both graduated with honors from UC Blue Ash and enrolled in the cybersecurity program in the School of Information Technology at UC’s College of Education, Criminal Justice and Human Services.

Jennavieve thrived in the clas sroom where she graduated Magna Cum Laude with her associate degree in social work. She was also everywhere on campus where she served as a Student Ambassador, attended a wide range of eve nts, and helped create content for the college ’s official social media sites. Financial Aid Checklist

APPLY FOR FINANCIAL AID Students interested in applying for financial aid must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online at studentaid.gov. The FAFSA is available starting October 1. Because some aid programs are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis, an early application receives priority consideration for limited funding sources.

List UC’s Title IV Code (003125) when filling out the FAFSA to ensure that UC’s Financial Aid office receives your information. Also remember that applying for financial aid is an annual process.

Complete a FAFSA online at studentaid.gov.

UC FAFSA code is 003125.

Allow 4-6 weeks for processing.

Once you receive your Student Aid Report (SAR), review for corrections. If none are needed, keep in a file for future use.

Once you have been admitted and you receive your SAR, check your Bearcat Portal/Catalyst for your aid status.

Once your aid has been accepted, complete loan counseling, and sign promissory notes online by visiting onestop.uc.edu.

Scholarships Academic Achievement Scholarship The Academic Achievement Scholarship is awarded automatically to incoming freshmen. To qualify, you must: • have not previously attended another college or university as a degree-seeking student; • have a final 3.2 min. (unweighted) high school GPA; • enroll as a full-time, degree-seeking student at UC Blue Ash College; • submit a completed admission application (including transcript & application fee) by December 1 of your senior year; • confirm your admission on or before May 1; • submit your official, final high school transcript showing date of graduation by July 1.

The Cincinnati Pride Grant recognizes UC’s long-standing partnership with the Cincinnati Public School System and reaffirms its commitment to CPS’s graduates.

Eligibility & Application After applying for admission to UC, complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). CPS students who are determined to be Federal Pell Grant-eligible will automatically be considered for CPG. ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIP CONSIDERATION: Incoming first-time freshman who enroll full-time as a degree-seeking student at UCBA and have: 1) a completed admission application (to include transcript & application fee)

by December 1st of their senior year, 2) a completed admission confirmation on or before May 1st, and 3) a final high school GPA of at least 3.2, are eligible for an automatic UC Blue Ash College Academic Achievement Scholarship (amount varies).

HONORS PROGRAM: Students with a high school GPA of at least 3.2 and an ACT score of 25 or higher qualify for the UCBA Honors Program and an Honors Scholarship in the amount of $1,000.

Attend Orientation Select an orientation session online after you complete placement testing: ucblueash.edu/orientation To make your transition smooth and successful, we have several orientation programs for all new students and their parents/family members. Participants will learn about our college policies, procedures and community. During first-year orientation, students will meet with their academic advisors and register for classes.

Orientation is required for all first-year students; transfer students are strongly encouraged to attend an orientation.
