PERFORMING ARTS & LEARNING CENTRE ARC3002/FACULTY OF ARCHITECTURE AND DESIGN/SPRING 2016/BAHCESEHIR UNIVERSITY
OVERVIEW
The project is in the neighborhood of Beyoglu called Azapkapi. Historically strong with exissng walls built by Italian Architects, a nearby OOoman Mosque, the site seemed like a perfect fit for a Community and Learning Centre. The project is a total of 5000m2, with several different programs. A library, learning centers, cafes, exhi biion areas and a dervish lounge are included in the design. I wanted to make the center more specific to performing arts, with training rooms, green areas, the building seemingly ‘dancing’ with triangular facades, and a bent roof structure. I added to the design a historical exhibiion space at the basement, in which one of the pre served walls are showcased.

This project was from a residennal building course, of the Masters Curriculum at University Of Maribor. The challenge was to design a small residennal building In an environment, with limited natural lighhng.
Two objects ďŹ ll the void, exissng in the street line, and the void exissng between the southern faciliies. This arrangement allows lig lighhng in both northern and southern faciliies. The green space adds a separated Microclimate for residents to socialize.

The Ulus residence project is a new project which consists of various housing types. It even plans to incorporate a hotel tower, and the basement was designed to accommodate shopping, conference rooms, and several other types of services for the residents that live here. Later, some adju adjustments were made to include a small primary school, gym and other things to capitalize o the strategic locaaon of the place.
MODULAR SYSTEM
The modular system was designed specifically, to tailor each floor. According to several factors: lig sustainability, Accessibility of light, ease of access and saving square meters. The design used one simple 1+1 unit and joined the two to create a 2+1 out of the same space. This, however meant that the area With the walls (net) and without The wall (brut) would essennally differ from the original 1+1. My Task was to create the alternaaves from scratch and add the samples to the catalogue shown to clients.
