ZOEY CAHILL (Telephone Girl and others) is honored to be a part of the cast for Machinal. She is a junior Theatre major at UAlbany. This is her third production with the Theatre Program, after most recently playing Peter/The Haberdasher in the Spring 2024 production of The Taming of the Shrew. She has been part of over 50 shows in her lifetime, most notably working with Berkshire Theatre Group, Berkshire Children’s Theater, and BCC Players. She is eternally grateful to her friends and family for their constant support and love.
HONOR KILPATRICK (Filing Clerk and others) is ecstatic to be acting in her final show at UAlbany. She is a senior majoring in Theatre and minoring in Acting. Past credits include the Theatre Program’s productions of The Wolves (#8) and There Was a Dent Here It’s Gone Now (Deborah) in FRESH ACTS, and Musical Theatre Association’s Heathers (Heather McNamara). She would like to thank her loved ones, professors, and everyone involved in making this production possible.
LUIS LOWERY (Man and others) is a senior English and History major at UAlbany, originally from Middletown, New York. He has performed in many Theatre Program productions including as Doaker in The Piano Lesson, Understudy for Montrellous and Rafael in Clyde’s, Bartholomew in The Taming of the Shrew, and Paul in The French Defense during FRESH ACTS. Last summer he performed with the Black Theatre Troupe of Upstate New York as Bishop in Wookies in the Wilderness. Luis is grateful for performing one last time here, and wants to thank the Theatre Program for welcoming him with open arms.
SK KOUASSI (Mother and others) is a junior at UAlbany, with a major in Psychology and a minor in Theatre. They have previously been in their high school production of The Wiz and are excited to take on these roles in Machinal .
DALYCE URIBE (Young Woman/Helen Jones) has been in other UAlbany Theatre Program productions, including as the title character in Clyde’s last fall, and in The Wolves the year before. At UAlbany she has a major in Communications and a minor in Theatre and is preparing to go to law school. She is very excited for everyone to see this production and to share the message that this production has to offer.
GABRIELLE VILLANUEVA (Adding Clerk and others) is a junior from The Bronx, NY, majoring in Theatre with a minor in Acting, and is thrilled to be performing in Machinal, her second Theatre Program production at UAlbany. Her first and most recent credit was this past spring’s The Taming of the Shrew, in which she played the Widow/Hostess. Gabby is grateful to join another amazing cast, and looks forward to bringing this powerful story to life.
HUDSON VILLENEUVE (Doctor and others) is an intended Theatre major, who performed in the Theatre Program’s productions of FRESH ACTS last year, and as an understudy in Clyde’s. He’s very excited to participate in this production of Machinal and can’t wait for you to see the show.
RYAN WILCOX (Husband and others) is majoring in Theatre at UAlbany, with an intended minor is Film Studies. Productions that he has worked on outside of UAlbany include A Bronx Tale and as part of the ensemble in Spongebob: The Musical . He is extremely excited and ready to be in this production.
JEWEL WINANT (Stenographer and others) is a senior majoring in Theatre and double minoring in Acting and Psychology. She is thrilled to be in her third consecutive show at UAlbany. Some of her past favorite roles include Amanda in The Glass Menagerie and Katherine in Taming of the Shrew (both last year in the UAlbany Theatre Program), and Sherlock Holmes in Sherlock Holmes and the Case of the Christmas Goose. She would like to thank all her theater professors at UAlbany for helping her grow as an actor and giving her the tools to prepare for what lies ahead after graduation.
JACOB BELL (Scenic Designer) is a senior Theatre major and Musical Theatre minor. This is his first fully realized set design. Jacob would like to thank Nora, John, Sarah, and the rest of the production and technical crew who supported him throughout this process. He would also like to thank his family and friends who have lifted him up even when he couldn’t return the favor. Jake would like to dedicate this design to his mother Tammy and father Eric, who throughout his journey have shown him nothing but love.
LAUREL IZZO (Costume Designer) is a junior at UAlbany, where she is a Theatre major and a Theatrical Design and Technology minor. She has been working in the costume shop since her freshman year, and this year welcomes the opportunity to design for a Theatre Program production. She is excited to showcase her first design on stage.
NATHAN “NATE” COOPER (Assistant Sound Designer) in a senior Theatre Major working as assistant sound designer. He is excited to continue his work in theatrical sound and is humbled and joyed to get to work with a professional sound designer. He is also excited to add another classic American play to his
portfolio to join the ranks of plays such as The Piano Lesson and The Glass Menagerie, which he previously designed for.
MICHAELA ADAM (Stage Manager) is a junior at UAlbany with an English and Human Development major with a minor in Theatre. This is her first experiences with stage management. She has previously been seen both on and off stage in high school productions such as She Kills Monsters and Les Miserables, and doing technical work for various productions at UAlbany, and was the playwright of Viva Voce in the Theatre Program’s FRESH ACTS 2024. She is so excited to see this production come together and wishes luck to the cast and crew.
HEAVENLEE GONZALEZ (Assistant Stage Manager) is a thirdyear student at UAlbany, with a Theatre major and minors in Theatrical Design & Technology, and Women & Gender Studies. Their first production was Taming of the Shrew last semester. Machinal is her second time ever working on a production.
SARAH BLUSH (Director) directs, writes, and develops original projects for theatre, TV, and more. She has developed and presented new plays and devised work with: Clubbed Thumb, New Georges, The O'Neill Theater Center, Ars Nova, The Playwrights’ Center, JACK, The Bushwick Starr, The Brick, The Hearth, Lightning Rod Special, Williamstown Theatre Festival, HERE, and more. Directing/ teaching: NYU Graduate Acting; the American Academy of Dramatic Arts; and NYU Meisner, Playwrights Horizons, and Atlantic studios. Awards/fellowships Clubbed Thumb Directing Fellowship, New Georges Audrey Residency, Soho Rep Writer/Director Lab, Colt Coeur Artist Residency, Barn Arts Residency, and New York Society Library’s Emerging Female Artist Grant. In addition to theatre, Sarah has directed virtual reality, interactive experiments in Google
Sheets, experimental audio, and podcasts. Currently, Sarah has an original TV series (co-created with Sofya Levitsky-Weitz) in development with Lionsgate and Peacock. This is her first production at UAlbany.
ANNE CROTEAU (Costume Design Supervisor) is the Theatre Program’s Costumer, designing costumes and supervising student designers for the production season. She teaches courses in theatrical design and costume construction, runs the costume shop, and coordinates production practicum. Previous costume design credits at UAlbany include The Taming of the Shrew, Rent, The Piano Lesson, Eurydice, Spring Awakening, Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson, and others. Professional theatre credits include the American Repertory Theatre, Huntington Theatre Company, Utah Shakespeare Festival, Costume Works Inc., Krannert Center for the Performing Arts, Saratoga Children’s Theatre and many others. Anne is the owner of Dress You Up, a custom bridal and formal gown design studio in Ballston Lake, NY and a member of the Board of Directors for Not So Common Players of Clifton Park, NY. She holds an MFA in Costume Construction and Design from the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana; and a BA in Theatre from UAlbany.
JOHN GASPER (Sound Design) is a performer, musician, and sound designer. Notable designs and performances include Wet Brain (by John Caswell, directed by Dustin Wills, sound codesign with Tei Blow; Obie Award), Advanced Beginner Group’s I Understand Everything Better, Coach Coach, Events, and I thought I would die but I didn’t by Bailey Williams (directed by Sarah Blush); Elevator Repair Service’s Seagull, and Royal Osiris Karaoke Ensemble’s The Art of Luv. He has designed and performed in many New York theaters including Playwrights
Horizons, The Bushwick Starr, La Mama, NYU Skirball, The Brick, Abrons Arts Center, and more. MFA: PIMA, Brooklyn College.
JOHN KNAPP (Scene Shop Supervisor/Technical Director) John holds a BA in Theatre from UAlbany. He has been part of the team of students and artistic colleagues for approximately twenty-seven years, helping to build roughly 100 productions at UAlbany. John’s designs include The School for Scandal, Cloud 9, My Children! My Africa!, Miss Reardon Drinks a Little, The Importance of Being Earnest, and In the Next Room. John doubles as the Theatre Program’s Archivist. In 2006 John started collecting documents (photos, programs, posters, etc.) to create a digital archive of Theatre at the University. NORA MARLOW SMITH (Scenic Design Supervisor) is a New York-based scenic designer and Visiting Assistant Professor of Scenic Design at UAlbany. Previous credits include The Mountaintop with Black Theatre Troupe of Upstate NY, She Kills Monsters at Capital Repertory Theatre, Fiddler on the Roof at Proctors, Fort Huachuca and Bloodshot with SHE NYC, Come Here to Me at the Tank, Carmen in the 1920's and The Little Prince with Ballet Co.Laboratory, The Life and Deaths of Alan Turing with Chicago Opera Theater, RENT and Pipeline at OCP, Being Chaka with Téa Artistry at the New Ohio Theater, and many more. Keep an eye out for more work from Nora this season at UAlbany on Mary Shelley Meets Frankenstein and at Capital Repertory Theatre on A Sherlock Carol. Nora holds a BA in English from Mount Holyoke College, and an MFA in Stage and Costume Design from Northwestern University.
