Despite the similarity of their westernized names, the Mohawk and Mohican were culturally and linguistically distinct.

The Band
New York native Jeanne O’Connor has brought her jazz singing to New York's Blue Note, Elaine's, Sweet Rhythm, the Rainbow Room, Smoke, and many other jazz clubs. Jeanne was recently a featured vocalist on opening night of "Midsummer Night's Swing" at Lincoln Center, sharing the stage with Nicholas Payton. In the New York Capital Region, Jeanne has appeared at Caffe Lena in Saratoga Springs, “A Place for Jazz” at the Schenectady Whisperdome, concerts sponsored by the Swingtime Jazz Society, performances at the LINDA in Albany, and the Saratoga Springs Arts Festival. In 2022, Jeanne appeared at NYC’s Birdland and toured Istanbul and Austria as a member of the NYC-based Royal Bopsters vocal group. She sang in the NYC production of the Jazz Nativity in Dec. 2023. As a member of the String of Pearls jazz female vocal trio, Jeanne has appeared at the Kennedy Center, Alice Tully Hall, Town Hall, and other venues in the U.S. and abroad. www.jeanneoconnor.com
Pianist and composer Peg Delaney plays sophisticated piano jazz, drawing from American, Latin and Brazilian idioms. Peg has been a two-time recipient of the New York State Council for The Arts: Meet the Composer Grant and was semifinalist in the Musician Magazine
Best Unsigned Band Competition. She recently was awarded the Swingtime Lifetime Achievement Award as pianist and educator. A versatile and sensitive accompanist, Peg is one of the most in-demand players on the upstate NY musical scene. She has released several CDs that include American Songbook classics as well as her own compositions. Most recently she has written, arranged and performed with her own big band, the Peg Delaney Big Band, which features top-notch instrumentalists from the Capital Region. www.pegdelaney.com
Percussionist Bob Halek is a versatile musician who has performed with a Who's Who list of jazz musicians in festivals and in clubs throughout the Northeast. His current schedule includes performances with The Empire Jazz Orchestra, Keith Pray’s Big Soul Ensemble, The Capitol Re gion Wind Ensemble and various club bands. His skills as a percussionist also allow him to play in concerts with symphony orchestras. Halek is on the faculty at Skidmore College as well as Schenectady Community College, teaching small jazz groups, percuss ion and drum set lessons. He also has appeared as a clinician and guest conductor for various concert bands, jazz bands and percussion ensembles.
Saxophonist Brian Patneaude is a professional musician and educator living in New York's Capital District. In addition to leading his own quartet (with five critically acclaimed albums to their credit) he maintains an active performance schedule with a number of ensembles including Michael Benedict & Bopitude, Keith Pray's Big Soul Ensemble, the Dylan Canterbury Quintet the Dadtet and the Silver Arrow Band. He has performed at the Montreal Jazz Festival, the Kingston International Jazz Festival, the Newport Jazz Festival Saratoga, the Albany Riverfront Jazz Festival, the Rochester International Jazz Festival, and numerous clubs and concert halls throughout the Northeast. Patneaude is an adjunct saxophone instructor at SUNY Schenectady County Community College where he also directs the college's Jazz Combos. www.brianpatneaude.com
Pete Toigo (pronounced toe-EE-goh) is a sought-after bassist who lives in his hometown of Chatham, NY. A master of both the acoustic and electric bass, he covers a wealth of styles, including traditional New Orleans jazz, musical theater, rockabilly, R&B, and the classic jazz style of his idol, Ray Brown. He has played with the Lustre Kings, NRBQ, Nat Phipps, Graham Tichy, Skip Parsons, Teresa Broadwell, and many other artists. He teaches bass at Bard College and also maintains a roster of private students.
