Type of Degree
The recommended student’s profile requires a good grounding in Mathematics and Computer science, as well as a good understanding of subjects related to the technological and scientific sciences. A good level of English language is highly recommended. Students are required to possess the necessary abilities for abstraction, attention, perception, reasoning, organisation and method, analysis and synthesis. Students should be curious, imaginative, innovative and having team spirit. The Scientific-Technical access is the most suitable option for being admitted at the University.

Career opportunities The proposed qualification has three areas of interest: Professional: Computer engineering has a great demand in leading businesses and organisations with technological and general training. w Academic: The Computer Engineering study plan has been designed based on the recommendations of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) for Computer Engineering and on the syllabi of the most prestigious American and European universities. w Research: Computer engineering is a research area based on an important scientific community, including international associations as well as high-impact scientific conferences and journals. There has recently been a sharp increase in the demand for Computer Engineers with experience in design and implementation of systems based on microprocessors and microcontrollers. Examples may include the latest generation of vehicles, in which these systems control everything (ranging from the ABS to the vehicle’s traction), modern aircraft and communication satellites, (which carry dozens of microprocessors for automatically controlling systems) as well as other consumer devices such as mobile telephones, televisions, GPS, video game consoles, alarm systems, and even washing machines which include built-in control processors. Finally, modern PCs and laptop computers include this type of system in peripheral and storage devices, such as Blu-Ray DVD players, video cards, scanners and printers. The main area of influence regarding the University of Alcala is the Henares valley (known as the “Henares Corridor”), which includes several major towns along the A-2 highway connecting Madrid and Guadalajara. The area has a high concentration of businesses, infrastructures and population, making it one of the most dynamic economical spaces with the highest profile in the regions of Madrid and Guadalajara. Small and medium-sized industry usually dominates the area, especially the cutting-edge sectors of advanced technology, although the region also hosts large companies and very important public institutions in the aerospace and mobile devices sectors. The industrialisation of the area has led to significant socio-economic developments, which has also led to a continuous offer of employment in numerous sectors. Speaking of which, the Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering, and the graduates who join the labour market every year, will find the right place to work in various professional spheres related to the training acquired, such as the numerous private companies located in the area, like Indra, or those from the public sector such as Spain’s National Technical Aerospace Institute. w
