Students must be interested in science, and in experimental sciences related to pharmacy in particular. They should combine commitment, attention and concentration, aptitude for analysis and synthesis, logical reasoning, thoroughness and attention to detail, sensitivity to social problems and care for other people.

Career opportunities Pharmacy graduates work in a wide variety of professions. Some work in the more conventional field of either community or hospital pharmacy (storage and conservation, advice, and dispensing ), but others work in the industrial pharmaceutical sector, in the areas of research, production, quality control, sales and marketing. Others work in industries like cosmetic or food companies, which have tradition to employ pharmacy graduates. Or they work in biomedicine laboratories, in hospitals or in other independent institutions. Graduates also work in public health and hygiene campaigns, in specialised laboratories and public bodies to supervise the hygiene of supplies or consumer goods. In overall terms, Pharmacists have today a broad professional profile and do their jobs in a variety of sectors contributing to the health of the society they work for. The University of Alcalá’s Faculty of Pharmacy has the advantage of its attractive location, not only because of the infrastructures on campus where it is situated, or the new bioscience park, but also because it is located in an emerging industrial area, the Henares Corridor, which contains numerous businesses in the pharmaceutical sector, among others. The University of Alcalá regularly reaches cooperation agreements with businesses in the area, in order to strengthen the relationships between these companies and its graduates in Pharmacy.
