We would like to thank our Parliamentary Patron, The Hon. Scott Morrison MP, Prime Minister for his commitment to the Michael Tynan Memorial Challenge for medical research since it’s inception. Scott Morrison was sworn in as Prime Minister of Australia on 24 August 2018. Prior to becoming Prime Minister, Scott Morrison was Federal Treasurer. his achievements as Treasurer include: • Record jobs growth. • Delivering tax relief for families and small businesses. • Reducing the deficit. • Getting debt under control. • Ensuring multinationals pay their fair share of tax. The Prime Minister says the achievement he is most proud of is the more than 100,000 jobs that were created for young people during 2017-18. This is the best result on record. As Minister for Immigration and Border Protection, Scott Morrison successfully stopped the boats. This stopped the deaths at sea that had been occurring over the previous six years under Labor. Stopping the boats meant that, the Government could close 19 detention centres and remove all children from detention and from Nauru. As Social Services Minister, Scott reduced abuse of the welfare system and put Australia’s social safety net on a more sustainable footing. Throughout his career in government and in the private sector, Scott Morrison has established a reputation as someone who listens to people and solves difficult policy problems. He has represented his local community in Parliament for over 11 years. He has been married to Jenny for 29 years and they have two young daughters. Scott is a ‘netball dad’, a member of his local church, number one ticket holder of his beloved NRL Cronulla Sutherland Sharks and a big Tina Arena fan.

The University of Wollongong (UOW) is a leader in health and medical research, and is committed to addressing global, national and regional health challenges by delivering innovative and quality healthcare. UOW’s new research facility Molecular Horizons is at the forefront of scientific discovery, unlocking the innermost secrets of the cell and developing new ways to detect and attack disease. Molecular Horizons is dedicated to solving some of the biggest health challenges facing the world. If cancer is to be cured, new classes of antibiotics developed, and Alzheimer’s disease reversed, it will most likely be biochemists and molecular biologists powering these breakthroughs. Samuel Hall
From the South Coast of NSW, Samuel is a freelance Graphic Artist and Muralist combining a mixture of acrylic and aerosol paints to create work heavily influences by his love of the ocean and nature, street art, travel, culture and colour exploration. After graduating 3 years ago, Samuel started his freelance Graphic Design business while backpacking for 10 months through Europe and North Africa and has been running hisbusiness full time ever since. Working with many companies both Australian and abroad, painting murals and commissioned artwork, creating logos and branding, illustrating and animating, he is also the Creative Director of clothing company “Breakfast Shirts”. This event is very close to Sam’s heart, as after being diagnosed with the rare nerve disorder, HNPP (Hereditary Neuropathy with Liability to Pressure Palsy) in his late teens and struggling for years, he turned his life around and took the plunge into doing what he truly loves and has never looked back. Sarah Rowan Sarah has been Speed Painting for over 14 years, and has been a Motivational Speaker for longer. Sarah speaks on tapping into Creativity, and the importance of being creative in the workplace, and in everyday life. Sarah brings a vibrant, energetic and fun vibe to everything she does, and to date has painted at over 350 events raising over $155,000 for charity. Her goal is to reach $1,000,000. In addition, Sarah teaches Art at a Sydney school and conducts workshops for holiday care, SME’s and corporates.
