The annual Craft Awards are organised by the Worshipful Company of Tylers and Bricklayers, one of the oldest Livery Companies of the City of London, with a history going back to the early 1400s. Down the centuries, and to this day, the Company has supported the UK’s most skilled craftsmen and women in three major trades, which continue to flourish. These are: • Bricklaying • Roof Slating and Tiling • Wall and Floor Tiling

Have you advanced your skills beyond the measure of conventional qualifications? Could you be regarded as a mentor or role model for those following in your footsteps? Do you have a portfolio bursting with amazing projects and thrilled clients?

Our aim is to recognise and reward young people working in these crafts, together with their teachers, for their most amazing achievements, their creativity and their ingenuity. They represent the future, and our commitment to support them is total. At the same time we also salute the senior exponents of the three crafts that we sponsor, recognising that they are the guardians of quality in our industry. Recent Master Craftsmen have worked on heritage brickwork at Hampton Court Palace, mosaics in Westminster Cathedral and complex roof structures for Queen’s University Belfast. If you think you’ve got what it takes you should consider applying to be recognised as a Master Craftsman.

An engraved medal, a certificate to treasure and a place at our annual Craft Awards Luncheon in London awaits each Master Craftsman recognised by the Company. The prize-giving ceremony takes place in one of the most prestigious venues in the City of London and is itself a great networking opportunity, with award winners and other invited guests attending from all over the UK and from many different areas of our industry. Working together with leading industry trade associations, we are able to recognise the most senior practitioners in each discipline as Master Craftsmen. They receive their awards from a senior City figure and each Master Craftsman has the opportunity to meet young award winners in our three trades at the awards ceremony. They also meet Army tradesmen and cadets from the Royal Engineers (our linked Regiment), as well as Liverymen of the Tylers and Bricklayers. Indeed many of our Master Craftsmen go on to join our Company as Liverymen. Please apply today to become a Master Craftsman! You can do this by completing and returning an application form to the Company. The application form asks for:

Lynn Library Building, Queen’s University Belfast

• Information on the craft qualifications held and evidence of time spent in training; • Details of projects worked on, demonstrating experience and senior standing in the relevant craft; • Evidence of training and mentoring younger craftsmen. After we receive your application, it will be reviewed by our Craft Committee, which includes experienced practitioners in our three crafts, and normally a visit will be made to one or more of the sites mentioned in the application. We look forward to receiving your application – and Good Luck!
