2 President’s Message

Thanks to everyone who supported the Home Products Show this year, Trey Hunt either as a volunteer, sponsor, exhibitor, or attendee. The Home Products Show is a huge production and could never be successful without each of you.

As we’re gearing up for spring, there are many important events I hope you’ll make plans to attend.

First off is the Texas Association of Builders’ Rally Day on March 20th.

We will have a group from TABA drive to Austin and join homebuilders associations across the state to meet with our legislators. I’m very passionate about this event and believe it’s important that we show up to represent our industry. We are hoping to fill a bus and ride together, so we need your participation. This is for all members, not just builders.

Please contact TABA staff for more information and to sign up.

As always, I hope you’ll join us for After Hours on March 5th, here at TABA. After Hours is a free, comeand-go networking event and is open to all members.

Finally, be sure to save the date for our Spring General Membership Meeting on Wednesday, April 10th at Cascades Country Club. And make plans to join us for our annual TABA Golf Tournament on Monday, April 22nd. Hope to see you around at one of these events!

Parade of Homes™ Builder Deadlines Parade Builders:

By Tuesday, March 5, 2019 Please submit to TABA the following:

1) Names of suppliers and subcontractors (sub list). Must be provided via email in Microsoft Word format. TABA staff will send you a preformatted Word doc that you must use.

2) Physical address and map showing location of home. If possible, please provide latitude and longitude of home location (You can “drop a pin” from the home location and text it to Libby’s cell phone (903)571-4532.).

Also provide complete written, turn-by-turn directions with mile markers. Builders, please note, this is a new requirement. Directions should start from a central location, preferably starting in Tyler for continuity throughout the Parade Magazine. Example: From Old Jacksonville Hwy and Grande, head south on Old Jacksonville Hwy and travel 4 miles, then turn left on... Another example: From Broadway and Grande, head North on Broadway...

3) One color picture of Builder, (if you have it).

4) Amenities List of up to 12 bulleted items- no more than 7 words per line. TABA staff will send you a pre-formatted Word doc that you must use.

By 4:00 p.m. on Friday, March 22, 2019: Final date to withdraw entry with no penalty.

Also final date to change address of entry with no penalty.

These are friendly date reminders; please refer to the 2019 Parade of Homes Contract and/or staff emails for full guidelines.

Important Tax Information

Regarding membership dues paid to Tyler Area Builders Association, the portion attributable to “lobbying activities” is NOT deductible from federal income taxes as an ordinary and necessary cost of doing business per the 1993 U.S. Congress Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act.

For 2019 taxes, the total amount of state and national dues that is NOT deductible as a business expense for a builder or associate member is $145.38 and $26.78 for an affiliate member.
