Regarding membership dues paid to Tyler Area Builders Association, the portion attributable to “lobbying activities” is NOT deductible from federal income taxes as an ordinary and necessary cost of doing business per the 1993 U.S. Congress Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act.

For 2016 taxes, the total amount of state and national dues that is NOT deductible as a business expense for a builder or associate member is $113.70 and $19.44 for an affiliate member.
