Art & Culture Cowan Center The University of Texas at Tyler R. Don Cowan Fine and Performing Arts Center serves the university, Tyler area, and East Texas region as a major focal point for cultural arts. The UT Tyler Cowan Center presents various classic and contemporary professional touring events, from world-class performers and lecturers to Tony Award-winning Broadway musicals and top-billed theatrical and dance productions.

Red Dirt BBQ and Music Festival The eighth annual Red Dirt BBQ & Music Festival in Downtown Tyler, Texas, features live music and more than 25 of Texas's most celebrated barbecue joints. The Festival, which has sold out every year of existence, features three ticket levels (VIP, General Admission, Concert-Only) with three different gate times.

Rose Capital of the World Tyler Municipal Rose Garden This world-famous Rose Garden features 14 acres, 35,000 rose bushes, and more than 500 varieties of roses. The Rose Garden is open from dawn until dark, seven days a week, and admission is free. Roses are at peak bloom twice a year: October and mid-to-late May.

Annual Texas Rose Festival Since its beginning in 1933, the Texas Rose Festival has represented the spirit that brings Tyler together as a community. Rich in heritage and tradition, the Festival offers enchanting ceremonial events amidst a backdrop of brilliant roses as vibrant and colorful as the community they represent. The Texas Rose Festival is held the third weekend of October every year.

Tyler Weather One of the most attractive features of the Tyler area is the climate. Because of the consistently mild weather and abundant annual rainfall, Tyler is a gardener's paradise. Perennials, bulbs, fruits, and vegetables all grow abundantly as our pine trees. Spring flowers begin blooming in early March and continue throughout the Summer.

TYLER PARKS

Tyler State Park

At Tyler State Park, you can boat, fish, swim in the lake, hike, mountain bike, picnic, geocache, camp, bird watch, and study nature. Whether you visit for an afternoon or a weekend, you will find plenty to do here. Explore the Pineywoods on more than 13 miles of trails.

Faulkner Park

Faulkner Park opened to the public on April 18, 2001. The park is named after Mr. Robert Faulkner, who donated land to develop the community park. In 2019, Faulkner Skate Park was added to the facility. The park features several picnic areas, restrooms, pavilions, baseball/softball fields, batting cages, playground, tennis facility, fishing pond, sprayground, nature trails, and skate park.

Bike Trails

Legacy Trail, officially opened in July 2019, is the newest trail to the City of Tyler. The 4.5-mile trail is 10-foot wide, concrete, and runs on the eastern and western sides of Old Jacksonville Highway. The trail is situated on the Old Cotton Belt train route, which was instrumental in the growth of East Texas.

Caldwell Zoo

More than 3,000 individual animals from over 200 species live at Caldwell zoo. Each habitat is custom-built to provide a safe and comfortable home for its occupants. Many of the species at the Caldwell Zoo are endangered or threatened in the wild. Giving these animals a safe environment while helping to maintain the genetic diversity of the species are two of the zoo's highest priorities.

TYLER SPORTS Earl Campbell is a graduate from John Tyler High (Now known as Tyler High), former NFL #1 overall pick, 3x All-Pro, NFL MVP, and a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Earl is the namesake of SPORTyler's Earl Campell Tyler Rose Award and returns to Tyler annually for the award's presentation ceremony.

Born in Tyler, Patrick Mahomes II is a Super Bowl champion, Super Bowl MVP, and NFL MVP. Through his "15 and Mahomies" foundation, Patrick remains heavily involved in supporting children in Tyler and Whitehouse.

2021 JOB GROWTH, TEXAS METROS

Texas Workforce Commission data shows Tyler as the fastest-growing metro area in Texas with an 8.3 percent job growth in 2021. The Tyler MSA outpaced the United States, Texas, and all other Texas metros in the rate of job growth in 2021.

Trane Technologies was incorporated in 1913 and is based in Davidson, NC. The company manufactures and markets heating and air ventilation equipment. Trane’s Tyler facility, which opened in 1956 as an air conditioning plant, has since grown to become one of Tyler’s largest businesses and strongest community supporters. The Tyler facility is one of the single largest Trane facilities in the world.

Trane is investing $76.7 million to construct a new building, rebuild 4 assembly lines, and create 3 additional assembly lines. With this investment, Trane Technologies will have over 2,000 employees at capacity.

Regional Hub Tyler, Texas, is considered East Texas's advanced manufacturing, health care, educational, and retail center. We offer companies a quality, centrally located market location with many advantages of a major market. The economy is diverse, and the area provides abundant, low-cost labor, land, and buildings. Tyler is part of the Tyler MSA, which includes all of Smith County, Texas.

Tyler/Smith County is strategically positioned 90 miles east of Dallas/Fort Worth, 90 miles west of Shreveport, LA, and less than 200 miles north of Houston. Both Shreveport and Houston have international shipping facilities.

Tyler has excellent interstate and U.S. Highway systems with I-20, U.S. 271, U.S. 69, and four major state highways (64, 31, 155, and 110) that provide efficient and economical transportation to all destinations.

Housing Market Demand for housing in the Tyler area continues to rise as the population grows. Despite a continuing increase in the average home sale price, the cost of buying a home is still very affordable due to the low cost of living.
