Commissioners’ Corner

Chairman Christian

COMMISSIONERS’ CORNER

In April, Chairman Christian traveled across the state, from Midland to Harlingen to Paris and Houston, talking with energy producers and consumers about rising costs, mitigating challenges and the importance of producing more Texas oil and gas for our nation and allies. “From gasoline to groceries, inflation is soaring under the leftist leadership in Washington, D.C. We need to be realistic and practical. The price of crude oil has skyrocketed, inflation is rampant, and Europe is mired in its first ground war since World War II. We should be divesting from hostile countries and harnessing American oil and gas, especially right here in the Permian Basin,” said Chairman Christian.

Commissioner Craddick

COMMISSIONERS’ CORNER

In April, Commissioner Craddick spent time in Beaumont, Texas. As one of the state’s largest refining communities, Beaumont is home to many facilities, including the ExxonMobil plant where Commissioner Craddick was able to take a tour and learn more about their BladeOne project. Upon completion in 2023, BladeOne will increase the facility’s refining capacity by 65% and be the first of its kind to process Permian crude oil. The vast majority of crude oil utilized in Texas’ refining facilities is known as “heavy” or “sour”. The Permian Basin produces “light” or “sweet” crude, so this project will be a huge step forward for our state’s oil and gas industry. Commissioner Craddick appreciates the opportunity to visit the site and looks forward to the completion of BladeOne.

Commissioner Wright

COMMISSIONERS’ CORNER

Commissioner Wright is committed to engaging with students and young professionals about the oil and gas industry and believes education plays a crucial role in the development of Americanmade energy. In April, Commissioner Wright had the opportunity to meet with petroleum engineering students from the University of Texas where he discussed the Railroad Commission’s regulatory authority, the importance of the oil and gas industry to the Texas economy and why it is essential to have consistent, predictable regulatory policies to remain a global leader in energy production.
