at 2500 State Highway 124 in Stowell, Texas. Directors Tommy Gilbert and Greg Turner were absent leaving Directors Dorothy Hamilton, Jeffery Jenkins, and Cody Bauer to make all of the decisions. The main item on the agenda was the hiring of an interim General Manager and after an executive session, the Directors returned to announce the hiring of James Gibson to a six month contract with a price tag of $70,000.00 plus vehicle and phone allowance. The board received some operations reports
and then recessed until Noon when they met with engineers and grant specialists to receive CDGB(Community D e v e l o p m e n t Block Grants) and GLO(General Land Office) information about possible grant opportunities. The next regular meeting of the Trinity Bay Conservation District Board of Directors will be Wednesday, July 15, 2020 at 9:00 am. in their office located at 2500 State Highway 124 in Stowell, Texas.

 Sheriff Brian Hawthorne and Crime Stoppers is asking for the public’s assistance locating the person, or persons, responsible for the murder of a well-
known business man in the Double Bayou area of Chambers County. On Thursday, March 19, 2020 at approximately 8:05 a.m., Deputies from the Chambers County
Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the home of Scott Privat, in the 10000 block of FM 562, in reference to a possible deceased persons call. When deputies arrived, Scott R. Privat, age 50, was found deceased with obvious signs of foul play present. Criminal acts are believed to have occurred sometime during the late night hours after 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 18, 2020 to sometime before 8:00 a.m. on the morning of Thursday, March 19, 2020. A report by the Jefferson County Medical Examiner listed the cause of death as murder, by a gunshot wound, which is consistent with evidence found at the crime scene. If you heard or saw

Commissioners Pass on Decision About Rice Festival
By Wade Thibodeaux The Chambers County Commissioners Court met in regular session on Tuesday, June 23, 2020 at 9:30 am. via computer enabled video. One of the main items on the agenda was the discussion and consideration of a mass gathering permit for the Texas Rice Festival in September and October of 2020. The Commissioners decided to table the item, but
County Judge Jimmy Sylvia told them that they need to be prepared to make a decision at the next regular court meeting on July 14, 2020. This decision will almost absolutely determine whether the Texas Rice Festival will occur or be cancelled for the second year in a row. While the court does not have to grant the permit until later in the year, the Texas Rice Festival has to have
