Bumps in the road...

Planning a wedding is a microcosm of life. You have to choose a venue, negotiate with a lot of people, organize an infinite number of details, mind your budget, and decide what aspect of your personality you want to highlight. Most of all, you have to remember that love is always the most important guest at the party. But no matter how hard you strive for perfection, inevitably there are some bumps in the road.

Publishing a niche magazine like TWWP is an amazing adventure, and we’ve overcome a lot of obstacles along our way to bring you this, our biggest and first all-digital issue ever. We’ve evolved to find new ways to keep up with the fastpaced world of wedding style, and going all-digital means that we can pour every ounce of our energy into developing great content. In this Fall 2015 edition, you’ll see more real weddings, more great vendors and venues, and now more international inspiration, too, with spectacular features from Italy and Guatemala.

Here at TWWP we work pretty hard to bring you the best wedding trends and ideas. We are thankful to our readers, our contributing brides, photographers, and vendors and to our wonderful advertisers. But like a good marriage, it’s not all work: from start to finish, our main inspiration is love.

They say the devil is in the details. Our 12-month wedding planner will make sure that you don't miss a single one as you plan your own one-of-a-kind wedding.

10 to 12 Months to Go

PLANNER Magazine

Start shopping for your dress. It can take several months to order, receive, and fit your dress.

Begin looking at photographers, DJs, bands, videographers because they book early. Gather referrals from friends and family.

Begin your search for a florist, rental companies, transportation, and your invitations.

Start planning your honeymoon. Make sure that your passports are up to date. Your passport needs to be valid at least six months after your scheduled return trip. Also, remember to update vaccinations if necessary.

For Jewish weddings, you need to order your Ketubah.

Register for engagement gifts.

Plan your engagement party.

You may want to consider setting up a wedding website.

Research marriage license and residency requirements if you are getting married abroad.

Look into hotel accommodations for out-of-town guests.

Find a hair stylist and makeup artist and have a trial run.

Once you find a hair stylist and makeup artist you like, book your appointments. Make appointments for the bridal party. Be sure to get your hair cut and colored at least two months prior to the wedding.

7 to 9 Months to Go

Announce your engagement and introduce the families if they haven’t yet met.

Set a tentative date, as this may change based on the availability of the venue and other vendors you are interested in.

Consider hiring a wedding planner to help you plan.

Choose your wedding style, approximate number of guests, location, time of day, etc. Start collecting inspiration and ideas from magazines, wedding websites, and blogs. Also, start thinking of your color palette.

Draft a preliminary guest list: a list for the bride’s family, a list for the groom’s family, and a list of friends.

Book your venue. If catering is available through your venue you may want to have a tasting before securing the venue. Also, make sure that the chef preparing your food for the tasting is the same one as for your wedding.

Choose a caterer if your venue doesn’t have one available.

Be sure to have a tasting.

Select the members of your bridal party.

Decide on a ceremony site, and choose and reserve your officiant.

Work on a wedding budget. Your budget will depend on the venue you book, as it will be about 50% of your total budget.

Start looking for a wedding invitation designer.

Finalize your guest list and start gathering addresses.

Choose a bridal registry and register for your wedding gifts.

Start shopping for groom’s and groomsmen attire. You must decide whether to buy or rent. Schedule fittings and pick-up or delivery.

Finalize flower arrangements for the ceremony and reception, as well as the bridal bouquet and bridesmaids bouquets.

Choose your music selections for the ceremony and the reception.

Meet with or check in with all vendors to finalize any orders and reservations.

E smé Jones, founder of Silk & Tincture based in Knoxville,

Tennessee, loves history so much that she made it part of her business. “Since the first handprints on a cave wall, tinctures have been part of human expression and experience,” she says.

A florist – she also owns The Fleurella in Knoxville – Esmé started dying her handcrafted silk ribbons to add a special touch to arrangements for her clients. She uses silk exclusively for her made-in-America product: “Silk is a superior, luxurious fiber, one that drapes and ties beautifully, dyes beautifully, and it’s as strong as it is soft.”

All Silk & Tincture dyes are naturally-derived. Esmé harvests some of the plants she uses for her dyes herself, and sources additional natural extracts from her native Tennessee and environs to conjure up the uniquely rich and nuanced tones that are the hallmark of her ribbons. Hand-dying makes every ribbon unique, and pleasing inconsistencies abound. Order a few hand-turned wooden spools of silk ribbon, and add some matching silk pocket squares and handkerchiefs for the gentlemen in your wedding party. Bespoke colors can be created to match your own color design, and Esmé is happy to send you free samples by mail.

A Goddess In Athens Classic Grecian Holiday Wedding Inspiration Photo Shoot Written and Photographed by Andie Freeman

W

e drew our classical inspiration for this shoot from two places. The first was the fabulous dress, and the second was the name of the city in which we live and work: Athens, Georgia.

Shail K designed the beautiful gown, a premium stretch polyester fabric with a bodice is made of illusion fabric adorned with lace appliquĂŠs, and showcasing an illusion neckline. Dramatic handsewn bead-work dazzles and is stunningly photogenic on the bodice and hemline.

Our bride complements the gown with glittering golden platform pumps. The dress

has a moderately long train with strategic stonework appliquĂŠs that echo the bodice.

We draw our ideas from classical Athens, Greece after which our fair city is named.

Our own Athena, Goddess of Wisdom, is the centerpiece in her golden dress. The setting for the shoot, the University of

the cake table. The main seating area is a beautiful golden couch that can seat up to five. An 8-foot gold picture frame can serve as an elegant photo booth for guests, and is set off by columns draped in golden fabric and topped off with white rose and lily arrangements to match the reception table decorations. An antique table displays a stack of vintage books along with an hourglass, and a white birdcage containing an arrangement of white lilies and roses.

Georgia, architecturally embodies the classical feel, from the Ionic capitals atop the columns of the Department of Theatre and Film Studies building, to the priceless Jean Charlot fresco on the exterior wall. Event Designer, Greg Hall, and Company, assembled the inspiration pieces. The reception features an antique hardwood table with place settings for four guests.

Each end of the table has tall gold vases with arrangements of white roses and lilies, and in the center is a smaller arrangement, also of white roses and lilies, flanked by two tall, gold taper candles. On either side of the centerpiece are two tall, gold pillar candle holders with golden, beaded candles. Each place setting consists of a gold charger with a gold napkin, gold-plated tableware, elegant white china with gold rims, and arrangements of white roses and greenery in golden vases. Golden Chiavari chairs cluster around the table, and all sits atop a cozy rug for a comfortable and luxurious feel.

Equestrian Glamour Equestrian Chic Wedding Inspiration Photo Shoot Written and Photographed by Pepper Nix

O

ur concept for this equestrian Utah ranch shoot is lush and glamorous, using pink and red tones complemented by gold and black for a formal mood. Many of our Utah mountain ranch weddings have a rustic look but, this isn’t the perfect fit for every bride seeking our Rocky Mountains Majesty, so “Gold N’ Glam” was born.

Cabernet and Gold lead the visual direction, with gold lace, ivory damask, and ivory chair tassels. Gold is back, and gold is big: from the flatware to goblets, it is our accent color of choice. To set the stage, a lace and silk swag drape the stable doors.

A simple white porcelain bowl makes the golden butternut soup shine on red and gold place settings. A small, ornate gold wedding cake is the centerpiece of the dessert table. Our petite espresso and Marjolaine cakes with edible gold glitter add a dash of dramatic contrast to the dessert table.

In the bridal bouquet, we used soft blossoms in light tones with a layered fan of blush-colored dahlia and a hint of white and pink ranunculus. The slightly smaller Matilda and Freedom roses add a classic element, and the smaller ranunculus blossoms in pink and red lend an innocent charm. Maidenhair fern, viburnum berry, smilax vine, and a touch of golden magnolia leaf wrapped in gold antique satin add a rustic appeal. The groom’s boutonnière echoes the bride’s bouquet. er of lace to soften the look. The menu hair bands. Washington Millinery ivory echoes the invitation. gloves add a bit of sophistication with a length that’s not overly-dramatic.

Crystal Mitchell of Signature BridesGroom Fashion outfitted our groom in the Genesis Fitted Tuxedo, style 901, a one-button, single-breasted style, with a side-vented back, satin notch lapel, and satin double besom pockets. Her ring from Goldsmith Jewelers and created by Makur Designs is white and rose gold, with a pink emerald in the center surrounded by diamond side stones. She also wears a rare rose pearl necklace wrapped around her wrist to create a layered bracelet look.

he inspiration for this shoot is Pantone color of the year, Marsala. This bold, modern color is inspired by juicy pomegranates, rich, deep red wines, berries and autumn leaves. We wanted to showcase the color’s transitional tones by featuring lush flowers in shades ranging from soft pink to deep burgundy, and we chose watercolor as the best way to bring this vision to life.

Farmington Gardens in Farmington, CT was the perfect venue for the shoot. The wall of windows that wrap around this

immaculately restored greenhouse provide perfect natural lighting that our photographer, Rachel Girouard, captures beautifully.

“When I began thinking about locations, I knew I wanted one that was rustic but still bright and inviting,” says Lauren O’Brien of Lauren O Events. “Farmington Gardens did such a beautiful job restoring the greenhouse and keeping many of its original elements, so it’s very accepting of a variety of styles and color palettes.”

For this greenhouse setting, the flowers are the stars of the shoot. Noreen Saska of Earth Blossoms created lush floral arrangements that we distributed throughout the space. The centerpiece is a stunning floral chandelier that hangs from the ceiling of the structure and serves as an

altar. A range of flowers, from soft pinks to deep burgundy, evoke our watercolor theme.

For the table, Earth Blossoms made a floral runner that mimics the palette of soft pinks and deep burgundy, and pairs beautifully with our suite of stationery created by Barbara Caruso of Avant Garde Design. The soft romantic tones of the watercolor, and the graceful digital calligraphy both on the farm tables and nestled among the succulents on the escort card table, convey the essence of the shoot.

We wanted to put a spin on rustic to show brides that you can have a wedding with country touches, but still keep the aesthetic fresh and modern. That was the inspiration behind pairing super modern acrylic ghost chairs from Pink

Phoenix Events and handmade farm tables from Durkin. The soft pink napkins look elegant and romantic against the china provided by Abbey Rentals.

We placed a personal fresh-baked pie nestled on a bed of fresh moss at each place setting. Along with a flute of pink champagne topped with a berry garnish.

In addition to the sweets on the table, Kelly’s Sweet Rewards created three cakes, including a ravishing hand-painted watercolor cake that was inspired by the stationery.

Megan Dumaine of The Wedding Embassy chose the bride’s Sottero and Midgley dress for its subtle pink tone, delicate detailing on the front, and layers of romantic tulle. We added a modern, bold touch of Marsala with the calf hair shoes, and a touch of glamour with the jewels.

The Groom’s tuxedo is a deep shade of navy and complements the natural earth tones used throughout the design.

Ashley Stone of Beauty Entourage gave our bride a modern updo that showcases her stunning jewelry and adds texture to her hair without leaving it with an over-structured look. Kyle Samolik of Beauty Entourage used shades of pink and burgundy to create her gorgeous smoky eyes that dissolve to a deep shade of Marsala.

Old World Grace Vintage Italian Elopement Inspiration Photo Shoot Photography by Fotografa Matrimonio

his photo shoot was inspired by Villa Muggia, the elegant villa in Stresa, Italy, a famous and historic town overlooking the shores of Lake Maggiore on the Borromeo Gulf. The scenic beauty, the architectural riches, and the mild climate that characterize it make Villa Muggia one of the top destinations for exclusive weddings in Italy. The villa was once home to powerful Italian and German industrialists, and now it dedicates its beautiful grounds to weddings and special events.

Every element of the villa, from the small architectural details to the terrace with its breathtaking view of the gardens and water, fascinated me. It suggested the story of a romantic girl who is intrigued by the elegance of the past and wants to have the

wedding day of a royal princess. I proposed the royal theme once to my staff, and they were immediately enthusiastic and brought my idea to life beautifully.

Oh, the dress! I focused on our slender model with her lace bodice, which the Couture Hayez Atelier designed and tailored especially for this shoot. I could not believe my eyes, because it was exactly what I had imagined, but had been unable to describe in words. Couture Hayez interpreted and brought to life the dress of my dreams. I was so honored that this gown, which is now part of the atelier’s newest collection, is named Ella, after my daughter.

Formidable created the floral arrangements on the tables and the terrace: they feature a typically romantic array of blossoms that evoke a soft, natural, fresh and feminine feeling. Some of the flowers features in the arrangements are garden roses, pale pink roses, peonies, white stock, and fragrant jasmine.

Note in particular the unique plates of Laveno ceramic, a ceramic that has been produced locally in Lake Maggiore since 1856.

Monica Intodesign created the invitations and the menu. She was inspired by the Muggia family, an important family that inhabited the villa and from which it takes its name. A delicate crown adorns the response card, and the closure of the invitation has the romantically elegant look of a real brooch and is in perfect harmony with the theme and colors.

Make up and hair is by Nicha and projects a soft look and a beautiful up-do that reveals the model’s graceful neck and shoulders, and the remarkable lace work on the gown’s bodice, drawing the eye to the demure line of tiny buttons down her back.

Finally, a pure white canopied bridal bed is overseen by a golden cherub who eagerly awaits our princess bride and her prince charming.

Aisle Perfect says that the Sareh Nouri spring 2016 collection is “one of the strongest line of gowns from Bridal Fashion Week.” The Wedding Chicks love the “jaw- dropping wedding gowns and veils from the Sareh Nouri 2016 Bridal Collection.” Ultra-feminine shapes, dramatic veils, traditional elegance and timeless glamour are hallmark of a Sareh Nouri gown. We asked this young designer what inspires her.

TWWP: Please tell us how you became a wedding gown designer.

SN: I’ve always loved wedding dresses.

In fact, you might say I was obsessed with them! I designed my own dress for my wedding in 2009, and after that, I began my career as a Marketing and Director of Sales for a high-end wedding salon. I got a few years of experience under my belt, and then I started my own line of dresses and sashes.

TWWP: Your Spring 2016 collection is timeless and has an ethereal feel. What inspires you?

SN: I uncover inspiration in so many different things, most of the time when I’m not even looking for it. Persian art from my Middle Eastern heritage, early bridal fashion, nature, and the soft, luxurious lace and fabrics used in my collections are all my muses. Certainly, the needs and wishes of my customers also enter into the creative decisions I make. In the

SN: I love working with soft, luxurious lace and fabrics, from all over the world, but French laces are among my favorite. We source our lace from the Sophie Hallette atelier in France: their lace is hand-embroidered and handmade on looms that have been turning out gorgeous lace and

open-minded. We must remember that just because the gowns look gorgeous in a magazine doesn’t mean that we will fall head over heels in love with them when we try them on. Pick elements that you like – sleeves or no sleeves, full or slim-fitting, traditional or more modern. But remember that those preferences might change once you actually try them on. It’s also important to be honest with your consultant regarding budget. Stay sincere and open to ideas, and in the end you will benefit by finding “the one.”

Effortlessly Organic MARGARET + COLIN

From the Bride:

I chose the Highlands Country Club because I grew up down the road from it, and I always loved the unusual, historic old main clubhouse building. Built in the 19th century, it’s an elegant, romantic building with high ceilings, big fireplaces, and a great layout for a party. It was exactly what we were looking for.

The inspiration for our wedding evolved organically. I wanted it to look and feel as effortless and as beautiful as possible, right down to my makeup. I didn’t want to look so different that Colin wouldn’t recognize me when I got to the altar, and I wanted the event to reflect our style: natural, thoughtful, romantic, and simple. Effortlessness takes work, though! Thankfully my mother, Broadway producer, Carolyn Rossi Copeland, was there to help me create an event that flowed and sparkled with unique and thoughtful touches throughout. We started with my love for the thistle, one of the symbols of Scotland, and developed the look of the wedding from that.

Everything worked according to plan–I think. Let’s just say that if something went awry, nobody told me. The best man’s

speech went longer than expected, so the timing of some events changed, but that’s show business!

Always be true to yourself when making plans for your wedding, while still honoring the ideas of the people who are helping you plan. If you do, your choices will be easier, you will feel comfortable in the setting you’ve created, and you won’t second guess your choices. Don’t try to have a big over-the-top wedding if your budget and taste don’t allow it or match that level of spending. Don’t try to copy someone else’s hippie wedding just because you saw a bunch of photos of flower crowns on Instagram. You want to feel like you belong in every part of your wedding, and not like you are dressing up in a theatre costume. That includes your make up: don’t over-do the makeup! You should look like your best self on the day and in your pictures, not like somebody else.

GRETCHEN + ANDREW HUDSON VALLEY WEDDINGS AT THE HILL, HUDSON, NY

Our wedding day was everything we could have hoped for, and more. That morning, I had so much fun getting ready with my bridesmaids–admiring the hair stylists’ and the makeup artists’ work, popping champagne corks, and sharing lots of laughter.

I was so lucky to be accompanied by these inspiring women who are also my closest friends, and their presence helped distract me from the butterflies in my stomach. I learned later that my fiancé was experiencing the same butterflies I was,

and was calming down by watching World Cup game with his groomsmen: and I thought he’d be the calm one!

Seeing my fiancé dressed for the ceremony for our First Look was my favorite moment of the day. Our togetherness was the reason everyone had gathered in Hudson that day, and so seeing each other in our wedding finery was both exhilarating

and wonderfully reassuring, all at once. Later, he told me his favorite moment was watching me walk down the aisle, but I was concentrating so hard on not weeping from emotion at the time that I barely remember it.

Our officiant was a mutual friend who was ordained just for the occasion, and who led a moving and personal interfaith ceremony. Despite an uncertain weather forecast earlier in the week, the weather was perfect, and we were able to enjoy the beautiful outdoor grounds of our venue for our ceremony

and cocktail hour. We moved into the barn for the reception.

The wonderful old barn had a natural beauty without any adornment, but it took my breath away when I saw how our planner had decorated the space: from the hanging twinkle lights, to the table runners, to the floral centerpieces, to the dance floor. Every detail was perfection.

After the ceremony, we enjoyed a delicious family-style feast from Cucina and then a rocking dance party, care of the band 45 Riots. Through all the excitement, our on-the-spot photographer was there to capture every special moment for us to keep forever. She was the best vendor decision we made

for our wedding, and we will be able to relive our magical day for years to come because of her gorgeous images.

Now that the event is over, I’m so excited to be married to the love of my life, and we feel so lucky to have celebrated our love with our nearest and dearest in the most wonderful way possible!

From Erin Crosby of Pickles and Pies–Event Planner:

As a wedding planner and stylist, I encounter many different kinds of weddings. All weddings are special, but some rise above that to become something remarkably memorable.

Andrew and Gretchen are two of the kindest and loveliest people with whom I’ve ever had the pleasure of working.

Because Gretchen was off in Boston getting her degree from Harvard Business School, and Andrew had just opened up his first restaurant, Untamed Sandwiches here in NYC, getting together to plan the wedding was not going to be easy. We relied on lots of emails and Pinterest. Gretchen “pinned” pictures that inspired her, and got her ideas out onto the board, which gave me insight about her wants and hopes for the wedding. What I learned from her “pins” was that she wanted a rustic, sweet, and romantic barn wedding.

For her colors, Gretchen chose jewel tones and deep purples, and she let me fill in the blanks. I used lace and wooden boxes for the floral centerpieces, and craft paper for all our paper goods. We created custom chalkboards for the program and shuttle schedule. We gave the guests wood cones filled with dried lavender to throw after the ceremony, and each guest had a personal wood fan to give them relief from the summer heat.

The entire day was filled with personal touches. The couple’s dog Revis is the love of their lives, but he couldn’t be at the wedding: so we created a special cocktail for the day called The Revis Island, to include him in the celebration. The “guest book” was actually a Polaroid camera. Guests took fun ”selfies” and then glued them into a custom book with a little note to the happy couple. One of my favorite personal touches in the wedding were the “table numbers”: The couple chose places and restaurants that had special meaning in their relationship,

and told the story of the place on the back of the cards, so every guest left knowing a little bit more about them as a couple.

One of the big things that makes Andrew and Gretchen so wonderful is that they are generous: helping others is part of who they are, and they are passionate about it. So in lieu of traditional gifts, they asked their guests to choose from three charities to donate to: we made cards that were placed on each table setting, then set up a display of 3 jars for guests to put their cards–and their money–into. Andrew and Gretchen chose North Shore Animal League, Minds Matter, and Root & Rebound as their charities, and the wedding ended up donating a significant sum to three organizations in need.

The images of the day were captured photographically by the wonderful Rebecca Yale, and the 45 Riots kept everyone dancing all night. We ended the wedding party with a grand sparkler exit towards their after-party event, where a bonfire and late night drinks and snacks awaited the guests. It was a glorious and happy wedding day for a wonderful couple.

We didn’t necessarily have a place like Basilica Hudson in mind beforehand, but as soon as we saw it, we both knew we didn’t want to get married anywhere else.

The inspiration for our wedding décor was a desire for a setting that was both simple and had an ethereal feeling. That describes the Basilica perfectly, despite its beginnings as a 19th century railway forge and foundry. The industrial interior is simplicity itself, with towering ceilings, steel trusswork and a grand view of the breathtaking Catskill mountains.

Our wedding planner Tammy had so many contacts that she was able to offer some great choices that would have taken forever to find on our own. Tammy and my parents really took over the “heavy lifting” of planning the wedding. All the vendors I met with were lovely people, and they did everything they could to make our special day perfect.

Our invitations were designed by Paper Trail in Rhinebeck, NY, and we bought hair accessories at M&J Trimmings in the Garment District in Manhattan. Catering was by Main Street

Our music was by the versatile band One Love Music (with Elán Artists). Tammy laid out the table formation, and Keith, my parents and I worked out the seating chart.

By now, we’ve all been to a lot of weddings in a lot of “wedding factory” venues that all seem to look alike. We were looking for a venue that would be unique, and provide an experience for us and our guests that was something fun and new. We didn’t want our guests to feel that they were attending “just another wedding”.

We fell in love with Highlands Country Club when we first saw it We had a challenge finding a space that felt cosy and warm with a relatively small wedding of only 80 guests, but Highlands was

a perfect fit. Highlands Country Club has such a special, historic feel, and it has three distinct indoor spaces and three beautiful outdoor space for photography. Huge windows, high ceilings and a beautiful dÊcor make it a very gracious setting.

One of our favorite spots at Highlands was the solarium, a glass-enclosed room, that offered an outdoor feel in an indoor space, while the old barn with its pre-Revolutionary war history offers a fantastic backdrop for photos.

We had heard nothing but good things about the food and service at Highlands, and both were absolutely impeccable.

I’m also a planner, so I knew to make sure that every detail was discussed prior to the wedding day. Remembering to communicate with the team was probably the hardest part to juggle, as well as making sure everyone knew where they needed to be at what time.

Our wedding day was everything we wanted it to be.. We relaxed, enjoyed the company of each other, and remained fully present to accept all the love our family and friends gave us that day. It helped a lot that we didn’t create such high expectations that they could not be met. Ultimately our day was all about celebrating our love, and dancing the night away!

I grew up on a horse farm and I love the outdoors, but now I live in New York City and work in the hustle and bustle of the fashion industry. So when my college sweetheart and I got engaged and the wedding planning process began, I knew I wanted a wedding that reflected my country upbringing, and that also combined a beautiful outdoor setting with a romantic, stylish and timeless feel.

Wainwright House, a Gatsby-esque stone mansion with extensive manicured grounds and a remarkable view of the Long Island Sound, was the place where we wanted to say our vows. We loved that it wasn’t the typical wedding venue, but rather a healing and learning center that radiates a peaceful, healthy, positive energy. We were blessed with good w

eather, but if it had rained we could have moved inside to one of the elegant rooms. Wainwright House also boasts a lovely guesthouse, which can be rented if you want. Our photographer loved the venue because the light on the sound makes everyone look their best.

I didn’t have a specific theme in mind

for the wedding, but my key words concepts were romantic, lots of lace, flowers, candles, and soft hues. Since I’m an organized, detailed-oriented, and creative person, I took on task of planning the wedding all by myself. The planning process, contrary to what some brides experience, was a fun and creative project for me, and I actually enjoyed choos-

ing all of our wonderful vendors and sharing my vision for our big day with them. Every second of watching the day unfold was delightful: seeing my beautiful bridesmaids and family all dressed up

for the occasion, the intimate first look with my husband-to-be, the walk down the aisle and feeling the happiness and love radiated by all our family and guests, and of course the amazing party that followed.

Our wedding was all about love, and for me it was a happy labor of love to plan it. In the end, all the hard work paid off, and our day was more perfect than I ever could have imagined.

The style of our wedding was “country chic”, Tuscan-style. Most of the decorations were provided by a local florist recommended to us by our wedding planners, Martina and Francesca of Il Canto di Imeneo. We requested simple flowers for the pews at the church, and they complied with hydrangea and baby’s breath. My bouquet was a soft cloud of pale pink peonies.

We arranged the dinner tables as one long, single table like a typical Italian family table, and they were decorated with simple bouquets of peach-colored climbing roses, baby’s breath, and fragrant bunches of fresh rosemary and sage arranged artfully in simple bottles.

The coordinating white table linens, white dishes, silver cutlery and iron patio-style chairs were all arranged by our event planner.

Martina and Francesca were fantastic in interpreting our tastes and in delicately guiding us. They provided us with an excellent selection of vendors who cared

about our needs and let us know that all was under control. They are both young women, but they demonstrated their experience and savvy with their excellent vendor list, and their ability to accommodate our requests.

The venue was Podere Spedalone, located in the Tuscan countryside near Pienza, with beautiful country-style rooms and large, photogenic gardens. During our three day stay, we were tenderly cared for by the manager, Alessandro, as well as the chef and other support staff.

We selected Podere for it’s astonishing views of Val d’Orcia, and the spectacular sunsets and dawns. We felt right at home in this beautiful and authentic place.

Simo and I, and all our guests will remember this wedding forever. It was a very special three days for all of us, both because we were all together, and also because Martina and Francesca, the florist, Alessandro and his team, Giuliana, Angelica and her staff were all very so good to us. And we will always have these beautiful memories to keep thanks to photographer Angelica Braccini and her staff.

Antigua, Guatemala, the capital of the former Kingdom of Guatemala and UNESCO World Heritage site, is perhaps the most breathtaking and well-preserved Hispanic colonial towns in Central America. It is also one of the best-kept secrets for fabulous destination weddings. Nestled at the foot of majestic sleeping volcanoes and beneath the brilliant blue Caribbean sky, Antigua’s historic buildings and natural setting is all classic beauty and history. Here, we sense the Spaniard and Mayan ancestors co-mingling with lively crowds of native residents and visitors from all over the world. Here, hospitality is king, and colorful streets and fresh highland air enliven the spirit and inspire romance.

Maria and Luis invited 700 friends and family to celebrate their love in this most

beautiful and historic place. The two young people met in Río Dulce, a popular cruise and sailboat destination in Guatemala, and he quickly fell in love with her.
