President’s Thoughts
by Mike Norris
Greetings,
How are your resolutions holding up? Hopefully, 2022 will be a good year for all. I want to encourage everyone to approach each day with an attitude that good things will happen. I believe that we have some control over our future, so I refer to my last article – “you bring about what you think about.”
There is a story that goes along with the thought about our future and events in our lives. For thirty years, a couple lived happily together and never had a disagreement, except the woman was paranoid that someone would break into their home while they were sleeping. Every night she had a routine where she made sure all the doors and windows were locked before going upstairs for the night.
Without fail, she would wake up thinking she heard noises coming from downstairs at some point in the night.
She would then wake her husband and make him go downstairs and ensure everything was secure and that no one was in their house. This went on almost every night for the thirty years they were married.
One night the wife woke and swore she heard noises coming from their downstairs. She shook her husband, who was used to the routine and willing to go check around so that he might salvage whatever was left of the night’s sleep.
On this particular night, sure enough, a man was going through the drawers and looking for anything of value.
The man of the house always took his pistol just in case.
The burglar started to run, and the man of the house raised his gun. Young man, I am not sure where you think you are running; but the first thing we are going to do is go upstairs. My wife has been waiting and looking for you for thirty years, so I think you two should meet.
I am excited about the TWUA regional training events that are about to kick off. Amarillo will be hosting the Panhandle Regional School from April 4th through the 7th. Bruce, Ruben, and the Panhandle Board are planning on renewing friendships and catching up with everyone since Covid forced the event to cancel. If you are in the Panhandle and need water or wastewater training, come give Amarillo a try.
If you plan to challenge the state exam at the Amarillo school, you need to submit your application immediately. You
MUST declare where you’re testing if you have received approval or a conditional approval letter from TCEQ. Read the approval. The approval or conditional letter does not automatically register you to challenge the state
exam. It saddens me to watch someone be denied the opportunity to test at a regional event simply because they did not follow all the directions and testing requirements.
If I have not met you, please seek me out, and it will be my pleasure to shake hands and make your acquaintance.
I pray that 2022 brings you good health, blessings, prosperity, and purpose.
TWUA President Mike Norris
