Makayla Sault received the good news yesterday afternoon that the Children’s Aid Society would honour her wishes to pursue Onogwatri:yo: as treatment for leukaemia (which is now in remission). CAS Executive Director Andrew Koster told the Sault family and the New Credit Band Council that the CAS would be closing the file and does not see Makayla as a “child in need of protection”. Makayla is here pictured after a concert during Community Awareness Week with Richelle Miller of the Six Nations Cancer No More Committee, her mother Sonya Sault, and Joanie Fish, a cancer survivor for 39 years who is also taking Onongwatri:yo.
