WHERE IT BEGINS
IMAGINATION IS OFTEN WHERE DESIGN BEGINS — BUT RARELY WHERE IT ENDS.
“ This journal does not document a contest.
It captures a moment — when ideas crossed borders, patterns carried memory, and fabric became a language. This is where
imagination happened. ” Ray Chen, Founder

UESTION WORTH ASKING When does design truly begin? Long before it is seen. It begins in the choices that shape how we live — in light, in texture, in rhythm. We created this contest not to find decoration, but to discover voices. Together, we are exploring how design moves beyond trend and becomes part of everyday life. Because imagination deserves to happen.

DESIGNER: JYLL MACKIE PRODUCT NAME: LENNYN 18
Jyll Mackie MY WORK BEGINS WITH OBSERVATION —
T
he quiet details that shape everyday life: how light moves through a room, how patterns repeat in nature, how a space slowly becomes home.
I have always been drawn to Indian block prints — their rhythm, their warmth, the way they feel both timeless and human. For years, I searched for a simple block print in a cream and burgundy palette for my daughters’ shared bedroom, but never quite found what I had imagined. When the TWOPAGES X Design Contest appeared, it felt like an invitation to finally bring that vision to life. I studied traditional block print motifs and hand-carved stamp patterns, then began sketching my own interpretation — something calm, grounded, and meant to grow with the space it lives in. Seeing this design exist beyond my screen, translated into fabric, changed the way I understand my own work. It reminded me that design doesn't have to be loud to be meaningful — sometimes its power lies in subtlety, texture, and restraint.

A PATTERN, MADE FOR HOME DESIGNED TO GROW WITH THE HOME IT INHABITS.
T
he Jyll Mackie x TWOPAGES Collection reimagines traditional block prints with a modern, handcrafted touch. Fe aturing three coordinating designs — Laine, Rhodes, and Wilder — the collection offers effortless harmony between pattern and texture. Soft earthy tones and small-scale motifs make each design beautiful on its own, yet achieve perfect harmony when layered together, creating a warm, timeless aesthetic that feels both curated and lived-in.

Kate Frost MY WORK IS ROOTED IN THE ENGLISH COUNTRYSIDE WHERE I LIVE —
I
n rivers, meadows, and forests that carry a quiet sense of magic and history. I'm endlessly inspired by fleeting moments in nature: a dragonfly skimming the water's surface, a stag glimpsed between trees, the steady rhythm of a riverside walk. Each pattern in this collection tells a story drawn from those moments. Dragonflies & Water Lilies captures joy, light, and transformation; Majestic Stag reflects stillness, strength, and calm presence; Riverside Reverie speaks to flow, reflection, and renewal. Together, they form a narrative shaped by movement, memory, and place. Color plays a vital role in that storytelling. I chose palettes rooted in the natural tones of the Somerset landscape — soft sky blues, warm golden neutrals, and deeper heritage hues inspired by Arts & Crafts textiles. These colors create a sense of calm and balance while remaining timeless and adaptable for modern living. At the heart of my practice is the belief that joy and creativity are not luxuries. They are essential. Thoughtful design has the power to nurture, to ground, and to bring quiet moments of wonder into everyday life.

Kim Morrow MY APPROACH TO DESIGN IS ROOTED IN RHYTHM AND REPETITION —
M
y work is rooted in a love of texture, heritage, and patterns designed to be lived with.
With a background in clothing and textiles, I approach design through both craftsmanship and function—considering not only how a pattern looks, but how it feels within a space over time. I’ m drawn to enduring motifs such as plaids, stripes, heirloom botanicals, and woven structures because they carry a sense of familiarity, history, and quiet confidence.
Texture is at the heart of my work. I often study hand embroidery, sashiko mending, block printing, woven linens, grasscloth, ceramics, and antique textiles— drawn to the imperfect beauty of materials shaped by human hands. Much of my work begins by translating those tactile details into pattern: the softness of linen slubs, the rhythm of running stitches, the irregular edge of carved woodblock prints, or the weathered surface of handmade tile. Inspired by English interiors, artisan craft traditions, and the natural landscapes around me, I design patterns that feel collected rather than decorated—pieces that bring warmth, character, and a sense of lasting connection to a home.

Leah Berin MY DESIGN PROCESS IS DEEPLY PERSONAL.
I
t often begins with a feeling — a memor y, a moment, or an emotion I want to hold onto a little longer. l'm inspired by the quieter parts of life: soft light in the morning, familiar textures, and the sense of comfort that comes from spaces designed with care.
Through Leah Nicole Designs, I aim to create patterns that feel lived-in rather than styled. I'm drawn to organic forms, gentle repetition, and palettes that feel warm without being overpowering. These designs are meant to bring calm into a space, offering a sense of ease rather than demand. For me, design is about connection. It's about creating something that feels approachable and meaningful — patterns that can quietly support daily life while still carrying emotion and intention. Seeing my work translated into fabric reinforced that belief. When a design becomes something tangible — something you open, close, touch, and live with — it takes on a new layer of intimacy.

WHERE SOFTNESS LIVES
SOFT DESIGN, MADE TO BE LIVED WITH.
L
eah Berin x TWOPAGES Collection is an ode to the beauty of nature that surrounds us, as captured through the eyes and the heart of a naturalist. The designs capture the buzzing bees, the blooming hydrangeas, the delicate daisy petals, the fluffy dandelions, and the intricate winding leaves in a wild garden. Each design brings nature inside the home to achieve harmony and a sense of calm.

Rebecca Hughes MY WORK LIVES AT THE INTERSECTION OF INTUITION AND STRUCTURE.
I
'm inspired by natural forms — leaves, landscapes, organic movement — but my process is always grounded in order. I'm drawn to balance: between softness and precision, freedom and control.
Each pattern begins with hand-drawn elements and obser vational sketches, which are then refined through repetition, alignment, and scale. This step-by-step process allows the design to feel expressive without becoming overwhelming. Color plays a deliberate role in that balance. I gravitate toward palettes that feel calm and considered, allowing the pattern to integrate seamlessly into a space rather than dominate it. The goal is always harmony — patterns that can live quietly alongside furniture, light, and architecture. Translating this work into fabric reinforced the im-portance of restraint. Seeing the pattern realized at scale clarified what needed to stay — and what needed to be removed — so the final design could feel complete, functional, and ready to enter real interiors.

Sabrina Ramkhelawan MY WORK IS DEEPLY INFLUENCED BY CULTURAL MEMORY AND PERSONAL IDENTITY.
A
s a designer, my work is rooted in my emotional and personal connections to places. The places I've lived, visited, and had meaningful experiences in become great sources of inspiration. The hustle and bustle of New York City, the calmness felt driving along canyon roads in San Diego, and the centuries of history in the Art Nouveau details of Brunate, Italy. Those details tell a history of a place, spark a sense of nostalgia, and create a unique atmosphere that lingers even after you've left. My artistic style draws from historic techniques layered with a modern interpretation. I hand-draw all elements to form cohesive collections that tell a story and feel both timeless and fresh. My prints are bold enough to make a statement but refined enough to feel intentional and easy to live with. They work as standalone pieces or layered across a room, allowing you to build a cohesive look without everything feeling overly matched. I design what I want to see in my own home. My goal is to help people create spaces that feel collected over time and reflect what actually brings them joy.

WHAT CONTINUES 62
In 2025, we witnessed a shift. What mattered was not the number — but the perspective.
