I have grown my design skills in both hand and software mediums, with a focus on using photoshop to effectively enhance my own rendering style. In all of my design projects I have enjoyed creating abstract forms through experimentation and then reasoning these forms into practical structures that suit both programme and site. Outside of university I have also looked to apply my architectural skills and knowledge to small scale projects to learn how they can apply to a professional capacity. Prior to studying at university, I worked within a quality control team covering a wide range of responsibilities that have given me valuable experience working in a professional environment as working as part of a team.

Set in an imagined world where light pollution has been eliminated from London, causing the alive again with starlight, being both a source of public spectacle and a sustainable way of illumin

In a masterplan spanning London, the Moondial design proposal is the centrepiece, located in Gre and borrowing from the astronomy heritage of Royal Greenwich Observatory parallel to the site.

Largely built into the sloping terrain so as not to greatly disrupt the park, the surface form of the Moondial is similar to that of a traditional sundial, made curved to appear as if a crescent moon.

The phenomenological journey leads visitors through a corridor guided by a single beam of light, adjusting to increasing darkness before reaching the main chamber where light falls on spraying water to mimic starlight.

Pools of water are used throughout the design as a way of reflecting the sky above from different angles and to different effects. The dish form aids in the collection of rainwater to maintain a self-sustaining circular flow.

Designed to be a celebration of the narrowboats built here, as well as a display to potential customers, the building’s shell structure acts as platforms that show off the boats while visitors walk alongside them and see them being built inside. The vast internal workshop is coordinated to have a narrowboat built in stages as it moves along a conveyor belt, slowly approaching the canal into which it will be launched on completion as the public watches from the balcony above.

The ribbed timber structure of the building’s shell is made to represent traditional boat building, with a ribbed hull that has been inverted and exposed, just as the internal workshop is made visible to the public and externally traversable. Gaps in the ribbed shell allow for light to permeate into the workshop in beams that give more theatrical impact to those watching on. They also give more practical purpose, ventilating the space and orientated with the path of the sun.
