Horizontal Clamshell
Lighting
Close to flat lighting, which is usually undesireable, this lighting setup is a great way to show the expression of the model. focus on the eyes and lips and the resta falls away in focus.

REMBRANDT LIGHTING
Rembrandt lighting uses one light source high and 45 degrees to the subject. It is characrterized by a triangle of light underneath the subject's eye on the less illuminated area of the face. This lighting creates dramatic but natural images.

LOOP LIGHTING
Loop lighting is a lighting pattern that creates a circular shadow on the subject’s face just under the nose. It has a similar light set-up to Rembrandt but the light is brought further around the subjects face.
BADGER LIGHTING
Badger lighting is named for the shadows created on the face resembling a badger. Two large softboxes are placed behind the subject angled towards eachother. This lighting is especially appealing for a masculine look.

Using barndoors and gels the subject can be lit in different ways creatively. For added points of interest a Gobo lens can be used to project a template image on the background .

EXPRESSION OF MOVEMENT
Movement captured on camera changes the expression of the image. From a posed static shot showing the movement a body can make to a movement captured mid-action showing the freedom of mobility.

EXPRESSION FROM JUXTAPOSITION
Expression can be delivered through the wuestions an image asks. Usually from the simple question "Why?".
Why is a person in a bath at the beach in a suit? This makes no sense... Yet here it is.
