The Women’s Foundation is the leading catalyst in Hong Kong for collaborative efforts to drive women’s and girls’ advancement. We have been at the forefront of efforts to improve the lives of women and girls in Hong Kong since our founding in 2004. Gender inequality is complex and requires both short term interventions and long-term holistic change. This is why we employ an ecosystem approach, connecting the dots across our diverse communities, transforming both systems and the lives of individuals and bringing everyone on this journey together. COMMUNITY PROGRAMMES

GIRLS GO TECH PROGRAMME Building a pipeline of local female STEM talent so they are positioned to take advantage of opportunities in a digital future. We accomplish this through introducing underprivileged secondary school girls to the confidence and skills that will set them up for future study or careers in tech.

TEACH FOR GOOD

Supports the learning needs of unprivileged upper primary and secondary school students at risk of falling behind academically. Our T.E.E.N. Programme ‘graduates’ offer individual online tutoring support, which provides them with a helpful source of financial support and the opportunity to give back to the community.

YOUNG ALLIES INITIATIVE

The struggle for gender equality is not simply a women’s issue, it involves all of us working together. Young men are an essential part of the gender equation and are under pressure to conform to prevailing masculine ideals, some of which promote harmful practices and behaviours. Our Young Allies Pilot Programme addresses harmful masculinity constructs and grows the next generation of allies in support of gender equality.

MARGINALISED WOMEN SERIES

Underprivileged stay at home mothers are some of the most socially isolated and economically excluded women in Hong Kong. We are piloting an innovative Marginalised Women Series in 2024 that will build women’s confidence, increase their familiarity with free technology, and introduce options for zero or low-cost microbusinesses.

MENTORING PROGRAMME In its 15th year, this leadership programme focuses on the personal and professional development of women leaders in order to create advocates for change. The ultimate goal of the Programme is to increase the number of women in policy and decision-making roles across sectors.

MALE ALLIES INITIATIVE

A group of male and female champions who drive concrete actions that create more inclusive environments within their organisations and across the Hong Kong community.

REVERSE MENTORING

Cross-industry reverse mentoring (between our Male Allies and Mentoring Programme alumni) enables male mentees to challenge their perspectives and see things differently, whilst empowering female mentors to build relationships with senior leaders and collaborate on tackling systematic barriers in the workplace.

BOARDROOM SERIES FOR WOMEN LEADERS

Builds the pipeline of highly qualified women, connecting them to the right people and positions, whilst providing some of the key skills necessary for the transition to the C-suite and Boardroom.

30% CLUB HONG KONG

In 2013, TWF launched the 30% Club Hong Kong – a group of business leaders who are committed to bringing more women onto Hong Kong corporate boards. Since our launch, the 30% Club has recruited new members and worked with Government, businesses, investors, corporate and industry associations, chambers of commerce and executive search firms to identify and implement measures to increase the representation of women in Hong Kong’s boardrooms and build the pipeline of women leaders.

CAMPAIGNS & ADVOCACY To effectively tackle many of the critical issues facing women and girls in Hong Kong, we need to challenge and transform existing systems, attitudes and behaviours that are preventing women and girls from fully participating in society. Towards this goal, we run collaborative, cross-sector campaigns and advocacy efforts.

RESEARCH

Independent, data-driven and evidence-based, our collaboratively produced research is utilised as a catalyst for change. We conduct ground-breaking research on under-discussed gender issues which informs the developmentof each of our programmes as well as determines the direction and scope of our advocacy.

BEN QUINLAN CEO AND MANAGING PARTNER, QUINLAN & ASSOCIATES

Hailing from an Australian father and Chinese mother, Ben Quinlan is an award-winning stand-up comedian. Ben is a regular headliner at major comedy clubs around Asia, selling out his tours in Singapore, China, Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines, Cambodia, and Taiwan. He appeared on Comedy Central’s Stand-Up Asia! Season 2 and was the winner of the 2017 Hong Kong International Comedy Competition. Ben has also opened for a number of international comedians on their global tours, including Russell Howard, Kevin Bridges, Tom Segura, and Doug Stanhope. He sold out his past eighteen 1-hour comedy specials in Hong Kong, with over 2,500 tickets sold. Aside from wearing his comedy hat, Ben is a multi-time TEDx speaker and a prominent keynote presenter in the financial services industry. He is regularly interviewed by leading news channels as the CEO of his own strategy consulting firm, Quinlan & Associates. He is the former Chairman of the FinTech Association of Hong Kong, Chair of the Innovation & Technology Committee at AustCham, an adjunct university professor, and sits on numerous advisory committees with various government and semi-government organisations. He is also the Chairman for Fintech startups divit and krip, and an advisory board member for numerous other Fintechs across the region. Ben’s unique corporate and comedy background has been featured in a number of leading international media publications and podcasts, including the South China Morning Post, The Financial Times, TIME, TimeOut Magazine, XXIV, IFR Asia, and eFinancialCareers.

SIAN HOOPER CO-HEAD OF HR - ASIA PACIFIC, BLOOMBERG

Sian Hooper is an accomplished, regional HR leader with more than 20 years of experience across HR and People roles in investment banking, professional services, retail, and in her current capacity as Co-Head of HR for APAC at Bloomberg. She is passionate about empowering and leading diverse teams, creating tangible outcomes for employees, and driving meaningful HR transformations. Originally from the UK, Sian has lived in Hong Kong and worked across APAC for 13 years, developing valuable insights into one of the world’s most complex regions. Sian is a mother of two and plays an active role in Bloomberg’s working families community. She is a strong advocate for flexible and supportive work environments which foster inclusion, and give everyone the opportunity to learn and grow.

FIONA NOTT CEO, THE WOMEN’S FOUNDATION

Fiona joined The Women’s Foundation as CEO in September 2017, combining her senior leadership experience with a passion for TWF’s mission to serve marginalised women and girls in Hong Kong. A former lawyer and Hang Seng Index company secretary, Fiona has lived in Hong Kong for over two decades having cultivated a career as a senior legal professional and adviser to a number of leading corporations in Hong Kong and around Asia including PCCW, AIA, AIG, Aviva, Chow Tai Fook Jewellery as well as SMEs, start ups and non-profit organisations. She is the Co-Founder of Room to Read’s Hong Kong Chapter and helped establish the Regional Programme office in New Delhi, India. She is Deputy Chair and a Director of the Australian Chamber of Commerce Hong Kong (AustCham), and was Founder and Chair of its Women in Business Network. In 2015, Fiona won the People’s Choice Award for the Advancement of Women in Business at the AustCham-Westpac Australia China Business Awards. In 2020, Fiona was selected as the winner of the “Outstanding Achievement” award for the Women in Business Law Awards Asia 2020 for her professional accomplishments as well as advocacy and influence. In 2021, she was recognised at the AmCham Women of Influence Awards 2021 as Non-Profit Leader of the Year for her work to advance gender equality. In 2022, she was a recipient of Tatler’s Front & Female Hong Kong Awards. Fiona holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) and Bachelor of Laws from the University of Sydney and is a Fellow (FGIA FCG) of the Governance Institute of Australia and the Chartered Governance Institute, a member of the Law Society of New South Wales, Australia and a Graduate member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD) and sits on its Hong Kong Committee.

LUCY GAZMARARIAN FOUNDER & MANAGING PARTNER, TOKEN BAY CAPITAL

Lucy is the Founder and Managing Partner of Token Bay Capital - a venture capital fund investing into Web3 and crypto startups. Lucy has focused exclusively on the crypto space since early 2018. Before founding Token Bay she was a senior leader of PwC’s global crypto team where she advised entrepreneurs and financial institutions on their crypto and blockchain projects and worked with central banks and other regulatory bodies to help formulate their crypto asset policies and frameworks. As part of PwC’s Deals team, Lucy also helped crypto startups raise capital from strategic investors in Asia. She has an extensive traditional finance background having worked in banking and asset management for Goldman Sachs, Credit Suisse and Schroders. In 2023, she was appointed by the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) as a Member of their FinTech Advisory Group to help facilitate policy deliberation in the Web3 space.

JEANNE LIM CO-FOUNDER AND CEO, BEINGAI LIMITED

Jeanne is the Co-founder and CEO of beingAI, which creates AI beings® who traverse the physical and virtual worlds to build long-term trust and engagement with people. The company aims to bring humanness into digital experiences to promote positivity and social good—to help us thrive. Jeanne has over 25 years of experience in business management and technology marketing. She is the former CEO and Chief Marketing Officer of Hanson Robotics, the creator of Sophia the Robot, and held marketing leadership roles at Dell, Cisco, Danaher, and Apple, where she was the product and business manager responsible for launching Apple’s most groundbreaking products in the region. She started her career as a Group Management Trainee at John Swire & Sons. Jeanne is the Chairperson of the Advisory Board of The Cathy Ann Hall Sphere Foundation, and an angel investor and startup mentor. Jeanne has a Ph.D. degree in integrated and holistic health, an MBA degree from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, and a BA degree in Psychology from the University of California, Berkeley. She is a certified yoga instructor and a life-long student of yoga philosophy, having completed Georg Feuerstein’s five-year Traditional Yoga Studies course.

TANIA TSE CO-FOUNDER, SLEEK

Tania Tse is the co-founder of Sleek, a blockchain social networking solutions company that is revolutionizing authentic human connection through simple, fun and productive networking. As the leader of product design and growth at Sleek, Tania has been instrumental in driving the platform’s success since its launch in April 2023. Under her guidance, Sleek has facilitated over 300,000 connections, transforming the way people connect both online and offline. The company has also secured $4 million in funding from renowned crypto investors and funds such as Binance Labs, Cyberport, Shima Capital, and Spartan during its seed round. Tania is passionate about advancing gender diversity within the blockchain industry. She is the founder of “IYKYK,” a community that brings together prominent builders and investors in the Web3 space. Tania is actively involved in promoting increased female participation in the community’s events and is committed to ensuring gender diversity in all group activities. Alongside her role at Sleek, Tania serves as a mentor for Web3 product design and fundraising at the Solana Accelerator Program, where she guides aspiring entrepreneurs in navigating the Web3 landscape. Prior to her Web3 ventures, Tania honed her skills within the Technology investment banking division of Morgan Stanley Hong Kong. Tania holds a degree from the London School of Economics in Political Science and Government and a master degree from CASS Business School.

PRAVEEN CHOUDHARY MANAGING DIRECTOR AND HEAD OF ASIA GAMING, LODGING AND HONG KONG REAL ESTATE RESEARCH, MORGAN STANLEY

Praveen Choudhary is a Managing Director at Morgan Stanley and the Head of Asian Gaming & Lodging and Hong Kong Real Estate Research. He was ranked #1 in the gaming & lodging sector in the 2022 and 2023 All-Asia Institutional Investor Research Team poll and has been ranked each year from 2011 to 2023. Praveen has a degree in electronic engineering and an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta. He is the Co-chair of the Leadership Council at The Women’s Foundation’s Male Allies program.

ANGELINA KWAN BOARD CHAIR,THE WOMEN’S FOUNDATION MANAGING DIRECTOR, STRATFORD FINANCE LIMITED

Angelina is Senior Advisor to IMC Asia Pacific, a leading global market making and proprietary trading firm. She has previously held Senior Management and Directorate positions with international digital asset exchanges, HKEX, Cantor Fitzgerald, the SFC, and other global financial services companies. She is also the Managing Director of Stratford Finance Limited, a consulting company focused on dealing with regulatory and operational issues in the financial services and digital assets sectors and advises brokerages, fund managers, and technology providers. Angelina is currently the Chair of The Women’s Foundation and serves on a number of Hong Kong Government appointed Boards and charities, including the New Business Committee of the Financial Services Development Council, Hong Kong Securities and Investment Institute, the Ebenezer School for the Blind, the University of Wollongong and is an Honorary Adjunct Professor of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, School of Accounting and Finance. Angelina is a Certified Public Accountant in the United States, Hong Kong, Australia, and New Zealand and is a graduate of the University of Southern California. Her MBA is from Pepperdine University, LLB from HKU/Manchester Metropolitan University, and LLM from Harvard Law School.

MARY MCHALE DIRECTOR, STRATEGIC ACCOUNTS APAC, EQUINIX

Mary is the Director of Strategic Accounts for APAC, where she is focused on coaching and leading sales and cross functional teams to execute strategies that deliver maximum revenue growth, retention and customer satisfaction for Equinx most valuable customers. She joined Equinix in 2017 as the Business Development Director for Digital Payments and Banking APAC. Mary has more than 25 years of experience in the banking and financial services sector including leadership roles at Citi, JP Morgan Chase and Bank of America. Mary is a strong advocate for advancing women in leadership and along with serving as a global lead for the Equinix Women’s Leadership Network, she currently volunteers her time as a member of BOG of the American Chamber of Hong Kong and was the former chair for its Women of Influence Committee. Mary was recognized as the chambers “Champion for Women” in 2023. She is an active alumni and strong supporter and fundraiser for The Women’s Foundation and also a member of the Advisory Board for the 30% Club in Hong Kong. Her weekends are spent hiking the hills of Hong Kong with her husband Ian and their dog Max, or creating delicious homemade “#bakedbyMary” breads and desserts to share.
