Tweed Heads Lifeline building on the market
By Jo Kennett THE LIFELINE Superstore site at Tweed Heads South is on the market for the first time in 22 years and it’s unknown at this stage whether the op shop will have to relocate. The building sits on three blocks in the high traffic industrial area of Tweed Heads South at 5-9 Greenway Drive. It has been home to the giant op shop for years and is on the market with Peter Antony from DJ Stringer Commercial. The Lifeline Superstore is one of the biggest op shops in the region and has long been popular with locals keen to find a bargain. The property is advertised as “an extremely rare freehold multisite industrial asset in the heart of Tweed South commercial retail precinct.” It is offered for sale as a going concern with two street frontages and exposure to busy Greenway Drive and Tierneys Place. The total land area is 3,532 square metres and the building area is 1,400 square metres. It is zoned B5 Development Zone for Business Development and is advertised as having “easy access to main arterial roads and the M1 Motorway,” as well as “Excellent exposure
in central location on Greenway Drive,” and “Fantastic Signage Opportunities facing Greenway Drive.” The corner site is advertised as providing “holding income” from Lifeline Superstore, which is owned by Uniting Care Queensland, the community services arm of the Uniting Church, which also owns Blue Care, Uniting Care Community and Uniting Care Health. The site is being offered with the opportunity of vacant possession, which means the potential owner may decide to use it as an owner-occupier or develop it. The site is being offered as two titles with a “commercial high clearance showroom/ warehouse.” Senior Commercial Broker at DJ Stringer Coolangatta Peter Antony said the market they are looking to attract is “large format national retailers.” “The opportunity is being offered for an owner-occupier large format national retailer more so than a developer,” Mr Antony told The Weekly. “It makes much more financial sense for those sort of retailers to purchase the site than to pay rent, so that’s the target we are marketing it at.
