Technology Training Sessions MON, WED, FRI, JUNE 6. 8, 10 | 1:00-3:00 PM Join AARTH, in partnership with Harborview Medical Center for a 3-day technology training. Our technology expert Twanda Hill will cover tablet usability for a Samsung Galaxy A, how to utilize Telehealth, MyChart through UW Medicine. As well as how to use, or improve skills on Zoom and Facebook. The training will be recorded.

Volunteers Needed Would you like an opportunity to support a fabulous organization and make a difference in our community? AARTH is looking for volunteers to help us table at local events. This is a great opportunity for high school students and older. (Service credits are available).

Kathleen Wilcox, MBA, BSN Executive Director Happy 1st Anniversary!

Prior to joining AARTH, Kathleen served as Global Director of Drug Safety & Epidemiology for Chiron Corporation. Her career has included serving as an intensive care nurse and working with subjects contributing to cardiovascular research at the Hope Heart Institute. Advocacy is in her DNA as demonstrated in her community focused activities including member of the King County Advisory Council for Seniors and Disabled Services, and member of the Seattle Parks Department’s Rainier Advisory Council, and several other advisory councils. Kathleen’s love for family and community has been expressed through her experiences as a caregiver and team nurse for the Rainier Community Center little league football team.

Kathleen holds an Executive Master of Business Administration from University of Washington’s Foster School of Business, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Seattle University, and a Bachelor of Arts with a focus in Clinical Psychology from University of Washington.

American Stroke Awareness Month According to the American Heart Association, someone in the United States has a stroke every 40 seconds, accounting for one out of every 19 deaths.

Stroke is a leading cause of death and serious disability nationwide and around the world.

Lifestyle changes can’t prevent all strokes. But many of these changes can make a radical difference when it comes to lowering your risk of stroke. These changes include the following: Quit smoking. Limit alcohol use. Keep a moderate weight. Get regular checkups.

Taking all these measures will help put you in better shape to prevent stroke.

HIV Vaccine Awareness Day World AIDS Vaccine Day, also known as HIV Vaccine Awareness Day, is observed annually on May 18. HIV vaccine advocates mark the day by promoting the continued urgent need for a vaccine to prevent HIV infection and AIDS

National Senior Health & Fitness Day® is the nation’s largest older adult health and wellness event, now entering its 29th year. More than 100,000 seniors will participate in local health and wellness events at 1,000+ locations across the country.

The goals of National Senior Health & Fitness Day are to promote the importance of regular physical activity, and to show what local organizations are doing to improve the health of older adults in their communities.
