Memory Sunday or Sabbath is an Alzheimer’s awareness campaign for African American churches. Memory Sunday/Sabbath is a day to talk about living (and living well!) with memory loss. It is nationally recognized on the second Sunday or Saturday in June. Memory Sunday brings national & local attention to the tremendous burden that Alzheimer's & other dementias are having on the African American community. Dr. Renee McCoy receives the Audre Lorde Wisdom Award
Congratulations Dr. Renee for receiving the Audre Lorde Wisdom Award. presented by the National Black Justice Coalition. This award honors iconic Black LBTQ+/Same-Gender Loving (LBTQ+/SGL) women and nonbinary and femme elders.
It is named in honor of the iconic “black, lesbian, mother, warrior, poet,” Audre Lorde. The Audre Lorde Wisdom Awards are a way to ensure the histories and contributions of Black LGBTQ+/SGL women, nonbinary people, and femmes, who are too frequently erased, stolen, and taken for granted, are honored, and those who have benefited from your work can provide you with the flowers you deserve.
