Our team of experts listens intently, solves creatively and delivers reliably to make remarkable design easy. TVS engages honed perspectives across multiple markets with public, private and institutional clients to deliver design solutions that meet the complex challenges of the 21st century.

Listen. Solve. Deliver.

We listen closely. We work to know your business deeply to see your vision clearly and understand the potential in the work we do together. Listening leads to inspiring conversations, the foundations of remarkable design.

We solve creatively. Achieving your aspirations and meeting your needs require great imagination. We love partnering with you to find solutions that push us to create remarkable design.

We deliver reliably. We know you need to be able to count on a partner that has your back and gets it done. We’re really easy to work with, even on the toughest projects. Trusted relationships make remarkable design possible.

THE ART AND SCIENCE OF SPACE.

Landmark cultural arts projects embrace the diverse ways we engage each other through performance, meeting, banquet, worship, preservation, display, storytelling, learning, interaction and entertainment. The architecture is required to host a broad menu of experiences for casual guests, family groups and after-hours event-goers. This need for flexibility reinforces the importance of carefully intertwining open and inviting front-of-house spaces with discreet and efficient back-of-house spaces. We understand this balance is essential to support both an institution’s mission and its often challenging cultural business model. A landmark design is a transformational bespoke solution driven by place and culture, and a functional and flexible community forum for deepening inperson social engagement.

We focus on creating an immersive environment that engages the emotions, stimulates the imagination and creates unparalleled and memorable experiences.

SUSTAIN ABILITY

TVS has helped clients benefit from many aspects of sustainable design since the firm’s inception in 1968. Our staff of LEED and WELL Accredited Professionals works to find a balance of social, environmental and economic factors in our projects drawing from our experience in LEED Platinum and WELL certified projects. As a leader in the integration of sustainable practices with client satisfaction and design innovation, TVS has the capacity to develop any project according to the client’s desired level of environmental responsibility. With over 57 LEED Certified projects we’ve received countless awards for creating remarkable designs for our clients and communities.

We have pursued the Living Building Challenge 4.0 on several projects at a conceptual level, but those projects did not continue with the program.

BEAUTY

Design to include elements that nurture the innate human/nature connection.

The Javits Center’s state of the art, nearly seven acre green roof can absorb up to 7,000,000 gallons of stormwater run-off annually, while reducing heat gain throughout the building. As a result of all of our sustainable initiatives, the facility’s annual energy consumption has been reduced by 26%. The farm provides up to 40,000 pounds of produce a year that is incorporated into the meals we serve our guests. Three honeybee hives were installed on the south part of the green roof. The green roof has become a habitat for 35 bird species and five bat species, serving as a wildlife oasis in an environment dominated by concrete and steel. The pixelated glass panels on the exterior are bird-friendly, reducing bird collisions by 90% since installation.

MOTE SCIENCE EDUCATION AQUARIUM

The Mote Science Education Aquarium is the newest extension and presence for the Mote Marine Laboratory and Aquarium. In conjunction with their other campuses throughout Florida, this building is to be the prime manifestation of Mote’s research and educational services. The intent of the building is to be a tool for showcasing the new and ever rotating research that is being conducted by the world-renowned staff. Through its laboratory classrooms the research being conducted by Mote is shared with students ranging from kindergarten to twelfth grade. The Marine Ecology Laboratory, the Biomedical Laboratory and the Ocean Tech Laboratory, coupled with over one million gallons of habitat, create a touchpoint for the integration of the world of marine biology into the lives and education of the students of the surrounding community.

As you enter the new Mote Science and Education Aquarium, three K-12 classrooms are positioned front and center, in the heart of the facility, demonstrating the importance of their mission of the advancement of marine and environmental sciences leading to new discoveries, revitalization, sustainability and greater public understanding of our oceans through innovative research, education and outreach.

ZOOTAMPA, MANATEE RESCUE CENTER

Projected to open in January 2026, ZooTampa’s new Manatee Rescue promises to bring guests as close as possible to manatees’ lives while promoting education through transparency.

Guests’ proximity to manatees and the critical care team will allow them to see, in real time, the Center’s lifesaving efforts.

“Manatees are in our backyards, and I want to harness the power of educational conversations with ZooTampa guests about the why and how of what we do,” Vaccaro says. She and her teammates are intent on teaching humans positive behaviors for coexisting with manatees

FLORIDA AQUARIUM, EXPANSION

The Florida Aquarium has undertaken its first major exhibit expansion in its 29 year history. Sea Change, as the project is known, is a complex renovation and expansion comprised of a new rugged-coast themed gallery featuring puffins and an outdoor pavilion featuring California sea lions and African penguins. The $41.5 million project is set to begin construction in 2024 and be complete by 2026.

Rated among the best aquariums in the US, The Florida Aquarium welcomes visitors to experience a wide variety of aquatic and terrestrial animals – including sea turtles, sharks, lemurs, otters –with the goal of building awareness and inspiring conservation action.

GEORGIA AQUARIUM

The design of the Georgia Aquarium purposely breaks away from Atlanta’s street grid and its indigenous architectural aesthetic. A vessel of conservation, preservation and education, represented by the large blue metal body, slices into this world ‘without walls’ to shed light into the deepest seas. Conceived as an urban composition of expressive architectonic forms the aquarium represents a large body of water, undulating against the Baker Street ‘shoreline’ opposite Centennial Park.

Given Atlanta’s land-locked address, the design team focused on the importance of immersion, wrapping the guest into the underwater world from start to finish, coming face to face with some of the most incredible ocean creatures. The design of the Georgia Aquarium shifts the paradigm of what is an aquarium and how its visitors will interact with its inhabitants.

EDUCATION LOOP.

With a threefold mission of entertainment, education and conservation, the Georgia Aquarium has devoted its second story to a limited-access Education Loop, a series of classrooms in which student groups can experience a unique view of the galleries from overhead. Exhibit themes are continued in the classrooms. For example, the classroom overlooking the Georgia Coast exhibit consists of a boathouse complementing the exhibit’s main floor shrimp boat, and classes on the River Scout exhibit are conducted in a ‘fishing shack’ along the riverbank. Above the Coral Reef exhibit, students learn how coral is formed and examine at eye level a replicated mangrove forest. The location of the Education Loop within the aquarium allows students to access the Aquarium’s dedicated research area, where they have the opportunity to interact with professional researchers on the aquarium staff on actual research projects.

OCEAN EXPO AQUARIUM & LEARNING CENTER

The Ocean Expo Aquarium & Learning Center is a 90,000 sf facility located in southern Mississippi, four miles from the coast of the Gulf of Mexico. The vision of this aquatic learning center is to allow visitors to get up close and personal to all of the animals and mammals beyond the reaches of a typical aquarium. Visitors will have the opportunity to swim with the dolphins as well as meet the friendly sea lions, and maybe, even get a kiss. This aquarium will focus on the exhibits, big and small, and provide each individual with an educational, engaging, and above all, fun experience.

CLEARWATER MARINE AQUARIUM

This project’s mission was to be more of an educational facility that created an environment that followed their vision mission of education, research, rescue, rehabilitation and release of animals. This project was also designed around a dolphin that lost its tale and they ended up making a move about the animal called ‘Dolphin Tale’. The client wanted to take advantage of the popularity of the movie and the increased visitor volume as a result of the film’s success.

ONONDAGA COUNTY AQUARIUM

NANCHANG OCEAN WORLD

The Wanda Nanchang Ocean

World aquarium combines dynamic interactive exhibits and beautifully stunning live marine environments to create an unprecedented experience for its visitors. The aquarium itself is integrated into the larger amusement and commercial destination of Wanda Nanchang Cultural City. The design team’s multidisciplinary approach promotes the seamless integration of the project’s rich aquatic aesthetic with each distinct exhibit zone in order to deliver a landmark that is both educational and entertaining to the Nanchang Cultural City.
