Thispastsummerweintroducedthemantratothecampcommunityof“It’sOurRanch”Itistheformulationoftheideathat OurRanchholdsontoapartofeveryonewhohasbeenthroughitsgates,andinreturn,it'saplacewecherishandrespect.It'sthe ideathatalargerpieceoftheRanchremainswithusaswetravel“alonglife'sway”.Wesometimessay“thisplacegetsinyour skin”,becausesomanyfeeladrawtoOurRanchandstillcallithome.Thisissimplybecauseoursharedchallengesand celebrationsatTVRCbecomeingrainedinouridentities.Theybecomepartofourlifestoryandweholdthememories, accomplishments,lessonslearned,andrelationshipsgainedsoclosetoourhearts
Aswelookaheadtoour ,TVRCcontinuestoliveuptoitsvisionandlegacy TVRCremainsbecause ofthelove,dedication,generosity,andhardworkofsomanywhohavecomebeforeus.Wefeelanintensegratitudeforthosewho havepavedthewayforsomanysummersandcamperexperiences Undoubtedly,thereissomethingveryspecialaboutthisplace Becauseofourpast,TVRCisover90%fullfornextsummer.Wehavealreadyreceivedover100staffapplicationsfromnewand returningstaff,whichalsohasusexcitedforthestaffcommunitythatisshapingupfor2023 Lastly,themissionofTVRCandthe skillsweteacharejustascriticalasever,forbothourcampersandStaff.Unplugging,forgingrealfriendships,facingchallenges headon,andworkingtogetherasateam alloftheseskillsarejustasvaluabletodayastheywerein1939.

AnniversaryCelebration
Therearemanywaystocelebrateaswemark85 yearsofTetonValley RanchCamp.The festivities willinclude:avirtualauction,watchingtheRodeo, roping,andenjoyingcocktailhourwithyourcamp communityaswellasotheractivitiesafterthe Rodeoends.

What do you want the TVRC Community to know about you?
"IwanttheTVRCcommunitytoknowthatwhileIamnotaTVRCalum,Ideeply believeinthepowerofsummercamp.Ispent18summersatcamps,15ofwhichwere spentatCampMerrie Woode,anall girlssummercampinSapphire,NorthCarolina. ItwasherethatIlearnedtwothings:(1)womenarejustascapableasmenand(b) yourgoofy,imperfectselfmatters.WhileatMerrie Woode,Iwatchedfemale mountaineeringcounselorsleadclimbingroutesforfemalecamperstofollow.I watchedfemaleboatingcounselorsscoutrapidsandleadrivertripsforfemalecampers tofollow.Iwatchedfemaledramacounselorsputtogetherentiremusicalsinfiveweeks composedoffemalecampers.Iwatchedfemalesrunabusiness(Camp).Iwatchedall ofthishappenasbothacamperandacounselor,anditgavemealloftheconfidencein theworldtofightforgenderequalitywithintheoutdooreducationcommunity.Italso gavemethegustotopositionmyselfsothatyoungerwomencanseeapieceoftheir futureselveswithinme.Iwanttogiveotherstheconfidenceinfemaleleadershipthat Merrie Woodegaveme.Secondly,CamptaughtmethatImatter.BecauseofCamp,I willcontinuetofollowmydreamsdespitethenaysayers.Iwillalwaysbemy unapologeticself.And,mostimportantly,onthedarkestofdays,Iwillrememberthat therearealotofpeopleintheworldwhocareaboutme.Idiscoveredthatlevelofcare andloveatCamp."
What are some highlights from your time at camp?
"DuringmylastcampersummeratCampMerrie Woode,Isignedupforthe5 daybackpackingtrip.Iwastheoldest camperonthetrip,sothecounselorsencouragedmetostepupasaleader.WehikedintheLinvilleGorge,whichhad recentlyenduredaforestfire,sothetrailswerebothhardtofindandhardtofollow.Onourthirdmorning,weslept in,madeahugebreakfast,andthenswaminaswimmingholebeforehittingthetrail Whatwassupposedtobeashort dayofhikingturnedintoalongdayofnavigatingdownedtrees,alackofatrailtofollow,andalotofblisters.Atone point,thecounselorsaskedmetocomforttherestofthecamperswhiletheymadeagameplanforthenight.We endedupcowboycampingunderthestarsandatecarrotsandhummusfordinner.Ourrewardwaswakingupto discoverthatwewerelessthan300yardsawayfromwherewehadoriginallyplannedtocamp.Wespenttheentire nextdayexploringtheriverandlaughingaboutourpreviousnightandhowpainfullycloseweweretothewater sourcethatwouldhaveprovidedusawarmdinner.Ioftengobacktothismemorybecauseittaughtmealot I learnedtheimportanceofbeingflexibleandhavingtheabilitytoadaptquicklywhenthingsdon’tgoasplanned.I learnedthatmothernaturealwayshastheupperhand,soyouhavetobereadyforanythingwhenyougointothe mountains.Ilearnedthatlaughterandtheabilitytofindhumorinstressfulsituationsiscritical.Lastly,Ilearnedthat asasixteenyearold,IwascapableofbeingastrongleaderbecausethecounselorsIlookeduptomosttrustedme, reliedonme,believedinme,andencouragedme Sufficeittosay,thistripgreatlyshapedwhoIamtoday"

What Brings you to TVRC?
"WhileteachinginJackson,Itaughtseveralstudentswho werecurrentandformercampers,andIhaveseveralfriends whoworkedatTVRC.EverysinglepersonImetinJackson whohadanaffiliationwithTVRCcouldnothavespoken morefondlyofit.IsentJimandCoraanemailin Novemberof2021,andaftertheyhadmeoverfordinner,I washooked.BeforeevensteppingfootontheRanch,I knewTVRCwasaspecialplace.Afterspendingthispast summerthere,IamthankfultosaythatI’veseenthemagic. TVRCisaplacewherecampersandcounselorsalikecome asonepersonandleaveasanother.Theyleavemore confident,moreproud,moreskilled,moredetermined, morecourageous,morecaredfor,moreopen minded, moreempathetic,andmorethemselves.Iamincredibly honoredandthankfultoworkforsuchanamazingplace."

ThissummerwasTVRCintopform.Camperslearnedtheirowncapacitiesforgritandstrengthwhile forgingdeepfriendshipsanddiscoveringthewonder ofthevalleyandecosystemwecallhome. Everyyear thatwegettodowhatwelovemostisaspecialone,but2022wasaseasonlikenoother.Aboveall,we rememberedthegiftoflivingincommunity,andweexplored,played,andsummitedtogether.
