Working Together for Our Students ARUSD Board of Trustees President Minh Pham recently convened the first summit of Superintendents and School Board Members from across East San José. The goal was to share best practices, engage on interdistrict issues, and identify areas where our districts can work together for the benefit of our most precious resource: our students!

March Madness!

Over three days in March, Alum Rock students of all ages and abilities competed in the annual March Madness basketball tournament at James Lick High School. First and second place teams earned trophies, and third and fourth place teams received medals. All of the students learned the values of teamwork and fair play!

Dorsa is Dubs Nation!

Dorsa Elementary School was one of four Bay Area schools selected to participate in the Peaceful Warriors program run by the Mindful Life Project and sponsored by the Golden State Warriors and Adobe. Students were taught the principles of mindfulness through sports, music, arts, and dance. Former Warrior Festus Ezeli was there to cheer them on!

Read Across America On March 3, judicial officers from the Santa Clara County Superior Court visited Linda Vista Elementary students and shared their favorite stories in celebration of Read Across America.

New Documentary Highlights Inequity We encourage you to tune in to a new documentary called Silicon Valley Pain Index, which is airing now on PBS television stations. While Silicon Valley is known as the high tech capital of the world, a large percentage of our East San José community has not shared in its prosperity.

This documentary tells the story of the challenges we face in our efforts to find affordable housing, put food on our tables, and secure a living wage.

ARUSD Superintendent Dr. Hilaria Bauer was interviewed and appears in the documentary to address issues specific to our district, our families, and our workforce families.
