Mountain Biking in Partschins

There is mountain biking all year round in Partschins with ten exciting routes to recommend and two challenging single trails worth singling out: the Stuanbruch and the Mohlboch trails. The not so fit or less adept and families with children can conveniently ascend the Nörderberg mountain using the Aschbach cable car. Once at the top, the ride continues along the Meran/o Bike Highline at an altitude of 1,450m a.s.l. or on one of the many other scenic cycling routes.

Family Tour (easy)

Take the cable car from Rabland to Aschbach, at the mountain station turn left and follow the forest path no. 27A to "Mahlbach", follow the "Mohlboch-Trail", turn left and follow the road in direction Quadrat district, pass the restaurant Brünnl and Niederhof and follow the road to Töll. From there you take the cycling route Via Claudia Augusta back to Rabland.

Uphill Seespitz (medium)

After starting at the bridge in Töll, there is a 2.8 km very steep ascent (16%), at the Aschbach/Quadratstraße intersection, turn left in the direction of Quadrat, past Gasthof Niederhof and Gasthaus Brünnl, then right uphill to the forest path no. 27 A. Follow this to the right to the crossroads, where the uphill to the Gasthaus Seespitz (1,750 m) begins on the left. The entire route is generally a very steep climb. The road is paved up to km 8. Then follows a forest path to the Gasthaus Seespitz.

Biker Codex In Partschins

Just a reminder for Mountain Bike fans - please cycle with care at all times! Rather than ruining the beauties of nature with warning signs and posters, we hope that you will cycle with care and respect others who are using the same paths.

1. Know your own limits!

Don’t over-estimate what you are capable of! Don’t ride across farmers’ lands or along paths which are closed. Give yourselves ample time to brake if necessary.

2. Remember that no-one has eyes in the back of their head, give right of way to walkers and be polite.

Ride with care and always give fair warning to people in front of you that you are about to pass or over-take them. Always slow down before you reach a blind corner and at cross-roads. Slow down when you meet walkers, too and always greet them in a polite, friendly way!

3. Animals

Please be especially careful when you see wild animals or farm stock. Try not to frighten them! Simply stop and wait until they are out of the way and remember to close fences and gates behind you.

4. Take your rubbish home with you

Don’t leave anything behind you – protect nature and take all your rubbish, litter etc. home with you.

5. Keep your eyes well open

It’s difficult to be aware of everything around you but be careful and keep your speed under control according to the prevailing conditions!

6. Your life might depend on it!

Check that your equipment is in good working-order, don’t over-estimate yourself and your capabilities, get information about the various paths and plan your tour well before you start. Don’t cycle alone, especially in more remote areas. Always have a repair kit, First Aid essentials and your phone with you. Wear a helmet and gloves at all times.

Hiking with children in Partschins

Walking with the kids along the spacious Waalwege trails and the wide hiking trails around the village is nothing but a pleasure. On a hike on the Walderlebnispfad Aschbach trail from the Aschbach Cable Car mountain station, one can make out interesting details in the surrounding landscape.

Family walks in the vicinity of Partschins include the Sagenweg trail of legends, the Peter Mitterhoferweg trail, the family hiking trail on Nörderberg mountain, the Bad Egart circuit, the Apfelgärten-Runde apple orchard circuit and the Vertigner Kastanienweg chestnut trail. With the exception only few trails, all of the above are accessible to children’s strollers.

Round Trip Through The Apple Orchards

From the church square (Kirchplatz) in Partschins, take a left turn on the Sonnenbergweg/Monte Sole street through the magnificent apple orchards up to the suspension bridge and to the Winkler inn. Take route no. 91A towards the sports center and then along the sidewalk in the direction of Rabland into a small field path to the left and to Hans Guet road. Turn left again and return back to Partschins on Route no. 1 (changes to 7A).

ROUND TRIP “BAD EGART”

Starting at the Aschbach cable car valley station near the Rabland railway station, the route takes a left turn towards Rabland, continuing on the tar road until reaching the forest road towards Töll. Passing the K. u. K. (Imperial and Royal) Bad Egart Museum, you reach the bridge crossing the Etsch river. Once across, turn left on to the cycle trail on the ancient Via Claudia Augusta and then back to the starting point.

Forest Adventure Trail Aschbach

This easy family hiking round trip starts at the Aschbach/Rio Lagundo cable car mountain station, continuing on route n° 27A towards the Eggerhöfe farms. After walking approx. 5 minutes, take the turn-off to the Aschbach Forest Adventure Trail. The Adventure Trail is a scenic route of approx. 3.6 km, with illustrated information panels and interactive stations (in German and Italian) along the way, showing the great diversity of fauna and fauna in the forest, and with amazing views of Partschins and its surrounding mountains.

Family Trail Quadrat

From the Restaurant Brünnl approx. 200 m along the asphalted street to the signpost "Familien-Wanderweg". After a few minutes of walk you cross the hiking trail 35A to the next signpost "Familien-Wanderweg" and you turn back on the trail to the Restaurant Brünnl.

Vertigner Chestnut Round Trip

Head north along Hubenstraße road from the Partschins Church Square. Continue on the Vertigen Road to Route No. 10B to Hotel Niedermair. Then turn left, following the signs to the Graswegerkeller Tavern and continue on Route. No. 7A back to the Hubenstraße road and back to the starting point in Partschins Church Square.
