president’s message Tiffin University had an exciting 2016 with great advancement in fulfilling its goal of providing a high-quality education to traditional, seated and online learners from around the country and the world. Our motto, “SINE AUDACIA NULLUM PRAEMIUM (without risk, there is no gain)” motivates us in all that we do. Our Guiding Principles serve as the framework for why and how we live by our motto. It clearly states our Purpose, Mission and Vision, our strategic priorities and, most importantly, our ICARE Values. This set of principles (created in 2016 by University stakeholders) guides each of us at Tiffin University.

Academic Programs The University’s faculty continue to provide quality academic programs and excellent opportunities for students to be prepared for the marketplace. Academics is the heartbeat of Tiffin University, and quality academic programming, regardless of delivery, will always be our focus. Institutional Planning & Effectiveness A new division, Institutional Planning and Effectiveness, was created to keep us focused on our strategic planning process. It houses accreditation/ authorizations, institutional research (gathering, analyzing and reporting data), and career services to enhance and support all resources to prepare our students and their futures beyond Tiffin University. Finances Tiffin University experienced a 3.73 percent increase in endowment for the fiscal year ending April 30, 2016, and a 78.6 percent growth over the last five years. Because of the generosity of our alumni, friends and donors, Tiffin University is in phase two of renovating the former Pettibone factory, which will become the Tiffin University Performing Arts Laboratory – a 21st Century Skills Development Center, with an expected completion this summer. Phase one of this project, completed spring 2016 included the Marion Center, an event venue which seats up to 500 guests, The Wall Street Pub & Grille, and a new and expanded campus bookstore. Enrollment Our Department of Enrollment Management continues to implement exciting recruitment initiatives and helps decrease student costs. We remain proactive in expanding our partnerships through the integrated recruitment focus of academic affairs and enrollment management, which has increased TU’s recruitment footprint in the State of Ohio and beyond. Through specialized visit opportunities and faculty-awarded scholarships, TU has partnered with more than 20 high schools for visits from faculty and admission recruiter teams. To support academic focus on this integrated recruitment initiative, faculty-selected scholarships are being offered to highachieving students. Through College Credit Plus (CCP), there are currently 159 high school students taking college-level classes at TU. In addition, TU currently celebrates international students from more than 30 countries.

Marketing & Communications The University invested in the creation of a centralized marketing and communications department to proactively articulate Tiffin University’s mission and brand. This department communicates and markets across various internal and external constituencies. As the demand and competition for virtual and nontraditional learning increases, this department focuses on messaging the value proposition of the Tiffin University degree. Student Success The University continues to focus on student success. In fact, we recently instituted an initiative entitled Celebrating Cultural Uniqueness: The Path Forward for Tiffin University. This initiative assures students, employers and our community that Tiffin University graduates, regardless of their area of specialty, are innovative problem solvers who can leverage diversity of any type to work effectively with people who are different from them and produce innovative ideas.

Athletics Tiffin University enrolled 833 athletes beginning fall semester 2016. The athletic department continues its focus on study tables and student-athlete retention. Our 2016 student athlete overall GPA was: 3.09. The top female team was women’s lacrosse (3.66 GPA), and the top male team was golf (3.46 GPA). The fall-to-spring student-athlete retention rate was an astounding 87 percent.

MISSION

Institutional Advancement Since May 2016, an energetic fundraising effort solicited gifts and pledges in excess of $2 million toward the completion of the Performing Arts Laboratory (PAL) as well as support for the University’s strategic priorities. The effort was helped by a pledge by Dr. Frank Murphy, a member of TU’s Board of Trustees, to match, dollar-for-dollar, all gifts and pledges raised – up to $4 million, which means a total fundraising effort of $8 million by April 30, 2017.

Alumni Relations Our alumni are the lifeblood of the institution and influence all areas of Tiffin University. Our Alumni Association Board – comprised of generations of Dragons – are actively assisting with the Alumni Student Symposium hosted each fall, offering career workshops, mentoring programs and alumni focus groups, to name just a few. Our “TU Comes to YOU” program hosts events in cities around the country. These events are a great opportunity for alumni and friends to meet, network and interact with other TU supporters in the cities in which our TU family reside. helping students ‘navigate’ drives frank murphy By David P. Ferguson One morning early this semester, Frank Murphy walked unannounced into the Academic Support Center. He had given more than $2.3 million for the Center which now bears his name and he wanted to check things out. “The place wasn’t too busy,” Murphy said, “but there was one young man sitting at a workstation so I introduced myself and we started chatting. I asked him how he was doing and he became very serious. He explained that his grades were not what they should be and I told him he was in the right place, doing the right thing, and he had to believe in himself. The fact that he was in college, with the chance to earn an education meant that a lot of people thought he was worthwhile.” “I called Tony a couple of weeks later to see how he was doing and he said ‘fine.’ I told him next time I’m on campus I would take him out for hamburgers.” Even a casual conversation with Murphy uncovers several instances in which he identified a need, provided assistance, laid out a challenge and then followed up to check on impact. The Murphy Center, built in 2013 to house academic support services, is one of the most visible examples. Located at the main entrance to campus, the center provides tutoring and counseling services to students who are in need of academic support. Nearly 120 students are using the Center this semester. “Many of today’s college students need a boost in their study skills to meet the demands of a college education,” said Dr. Teresa Shafer, interim vice president for academic affairs. “The Murphy Center provides just that. The Center is a place where all students can go to get help to be successful. Our staff and tutors retain the students who might fall through the cracks and struggle in the classroom. It is heartwarming to see the growth of our students who take advantage of this support.” Helping students and challenging them to succeed is at the core of Murphy’s commitment to Tiffin University. “The satisfaction Frank gets from helping students is almost spiritual for him,” said Larry Adelsperger who, like Murphy, serves on the University’s Board of Trustees. “When one considers the question, what do you get out of life, for Frank, it is the satisfaction of helping students have bigger opportunities than they might otherwise not have had.” Last year, Murphy laid out a stunning and unprecedented challenge and opportunity for TU when he announced that he would match, dollar for dollar, every gift the University received between May 1, 2016, and December 31, 2016 up to $4 million. He extended the deadline to April 31, 2017. As of mid-February, the University had raised nearly $3 million toward the match and is planning a “Mad April” push to max out the match. “The $4 million pledge came at a time that was absolutely perfect for us,” said Dr. Lillian Schumacher, University president. “The Board directed us to raise money for the transformation of an old factory into a state-of-the-art Performing Arts Laboratory (PAL.) Mr. Murphy’s match was not specifically for the PAL, but the challenge energized our donors and friends. He jumpstarted the effort and a whole lot of people got on board.” I doubt that many other schools like TU have raised this kind of money in such a short period of time.” 6

“I’m on the soccer team and athletes are required to go to the Murphy Center a certain number of hours a week. I like to go there and study because it is quiet. I am being tutored in chemistry and physics. I try to get ahead in these classes and not fall behind. In physics, I work on homework at the Murphy Center and that makes class a lot easier.”

I had some GPA (grade point average) problems last year. The Success Coaches at the Murphy Center were great and showed me how to be more organized and how to prioritize better. I raised my GPA by two points! The Murphy Center is a big part of my improvement.”

Elizabeth Wild Urbana, Ohio Freshman/ Psychology “Tiffin University is such a friendly campus. Everyone says ‘hi!” The success coaches in the Murphy Center are like having my mom and dad here. They care a lot. I was placed in the program because of low ACT scores, but last year, I earned all ‘A’s” so they threw me out!”

The numbers tell the tale. As of mid-February, Tiffin had raised $5.1 million and had increased the number of donors from 791 a year ago to 1,048 this year. Even when Murphy’s contributions are removed from the comparison, the average size of a gift leapt more than 33 percent from $1,081 last year to $1,496 this year. “Frank Murphy has had a major impact,” Schumacher said, “not only in the magnitude of his generosity but in the example he sets for others. He never forgets to give back, and that has captured the imagination of the University community and beyond.” Board Chair Claire Johansen agreed. “Frank has shown people with his match that every gift can count and is valuable,” she said. “Although he is a humble gentleman, he can forcibly articulate those things he feels strongly about. And what he cares most about are students who have been underserved in high school and those who come from first generation college families.” Murphy, himself, is from a first-generation college family. He grew up in a neighborhood in the northwest section of downtown Columbus, Ohio, known as “Flytown.” It was a community of Irish,

German, and Welsh immigrants, known as the “Irish Broadway.” Today, it is Nationwide Boulevard in the Arena District. He learned many things from his father, including the value of hard work. “My Dad worked three jobs throughout his working life,” Murphy said. “He walked into the Huntington Bank at age 15 and walked out at age 60. He went to the bank before breakfast and counted out the bills. Then he worked a regular shift as teller, and when the bank closed for the day, he went to the racetracks to work as a teller.” Murphy was raised as a Roman Catholic and regularly served as an altar boy at mass. Perhaps the first example of how an “assist” could change a life came when the parish’s pastor arranged for young Frank to attend the prestigious St. Charles Preparatory School in Columbus, tuition free for four years. “It was a challenging school,” he recalled. “Ninety-nine of us started and 33 graduated four years later. Some kids opted out and some were delinquent. Only 12 are left, and later this spring we are having the 63rd reunion of the 1954 class down in Naples.” 7

After earning degrees from Otterbein College and Wittenberg University, he began his career as a Spanish and English teacher in a central Ohio high school. His time there gave him numerous opportunities to challenge and help students, and to teach don’t give up in the face of a challenge. “I taught a ‘gifted’ class,” he recalled. “And there was one young lady who was very popular and successful in many ways. She was homecoming queen and Queen of the May celebration. She was getting As in all of her classes, except Spanish. She came to me in the late fall and told me she had been accepted conditionally at Swarthmore, but she knew an F in Spanish would doom her prospects. So I lined up a series of tutors for her, all of whom gave up in frustration. I didn’t want a failing grade in Spanish to ruin her chances of getting into one of the most prestigious girls’ school in the country. So I tried tutoring her, gave her an oral exam and she received a C in the class.” Murphy left education shortly thereafter and lost track of the young lady. He ultimately founded University Housing Solutions, a business affiliate of MKC Architects, and became associated with TU through the design and construction of an on campus student living and learning community. He resigned from, and sold his interests in the companies early last year. Thus, much of his life has been student-centered and focused on their well-being. “He is an enormously generous and caring man who is focused tightly on the student,” said Mike Klepper, who serves on the TU Board. “He is a very clear and practical thinker. “What he says is rooted in the practical.” For his part, Murphy agrees. “My passion is to leave the world a better place for me having lived,” Murphy said. “If I can do that then maybe others will act the same way. I love seeing people become the person they can be. If I can help people get on the right path and start making good decisions, well, I get a lot of satisfaction from that. “I have no ability to do esoteric things. I would be a disaster on a boat in the middle of the ocean. I wouldn’t know whether to go right, left, forward or backward. “Life is a lot like that and college is a lot like that. Many people find it hard to navigate. Here I can help people navigate, and college is a good place to start, and to give them an assist.” When asked how he would like to be remembered, he paused, and then continued. “I hope to be remembered positively,” he said. “I don’t want a statue. I don’t want adulation. I don’t want my name all over the place. I don’t want a ‘Frank Murphy Day.’ I would like to be remembered as someone who has made a mark that is measurable. A person who left the things he touched a lot better than they were. That’s all I want.”

The Dr. Gene Crutsinger Memorial Scholarship | $1,145

Alumni Association Scholarship | $19,598

This endowed fund was established by the School of Arts & Sciences at Tiffin University. It will forever honor Dr. Crutsinger’s Service to the students, faculty and staff in his role as associate professor of english and dean of the school of arts and sciences from 20112013. The scholarship supports any student majoring in any program residing in the School of Arts & Sciences at Tiffin University. No academic restrictions are placed on this scholarship.

The Alumni Association Scholarship supports an undergraduate senior with a 3.0 GPA who can demonstrate financial need. The David and Maureen Boyd Student Investment Fund | $24,781 This endowed fund provides upper-level finance students the opportunity to manage a component of the endowment through the activities of buying and selling securities. The David and Maureen Boyd Student Investment Fund is in the permanent endowment of Tiffin University in honor of the meritorious service provided by David J. Boyd for sixteen years as the University’s vice president for business. The Aaron Ciak Memorial Scholarship | $18,747 This endowed scholarship was established in memory of Aaron Ciak (TU Class of 2005) by his best friend, Bobby Petras (TU Class of 2003) and Aaron’s family. It is awarded to a football player from the State of Michigan. The Ivan Daniel and Maxine L. Cole Scholarship | $88,182 This endowment was established in 2000 by Ivan (Class of 1938) and Maxine Cole. Income from the endowment is being used to provide general scholarship support to students who hail from Seneca County, Ohio, preferably Seneca East High School, who have a grade point average of 3.0 or better and have participated in at least one outside activity. Character references from a religious leader and school official must be provided to supplement the application. The Harold B. and Brema Konst Colvin Scholarship | $44,215 Harold Colvin was a trustee of Tiffin University and attended TU in 1950. He had a 27 year career at Marathon Oil. Upon his untimely death, his widow, Brema Colvin, decided to establish a scholarship in his name. Brema is a 1951 graduate of Tiffin University.

The Dr. Kenneth B. Cummins Endowed Scholarship | $54,014 New Washington, Ohio resident, Dr. Kenneth Cummins, was an accomplished mathematics scholar and music educator who established this scholarship in his name with preference to academically qualified and deserving students from Buckeye Central and Seneca East High Schools. The DeLuca-Grandillo Endowed Scholarship | $1,155 The Deluca-Grandillo scholarship was established by Michael and Nancy Grandillo in memory of Michael’s father, Anthony D. Grandillo and in honor of his mother, Lucy DeLuca Grandillo of Dayton. This scholarship will be used to provide general scholarship support to students from the following high schools only: Cleveland East Tech, Steubenville Catholic Central, Dayton Charminade – Julienne, Dayton Meadowdale and Wadsworth. The Doepker Scholarship | $9,529 Established by Jeff Doepker, a loyal friend of Tiffin University, this scholarship supports a graduate student who meets the following requirements: a) acceptance into the MBA program at Tiffin University, b) hold an incoming GPA of 3.0 or better and c) be an active member of the TU School of Business Club.

The scholarship will be increased each year as gifts from ensuing 50-year classes are received. The fund will be used to grant legacy scholarships to academically qualified children and grandchildren of alumni. Verification of the legacy relationship must be confirmed by the Office of Alumni Relations at Tiffin University. The First Citizens National Bank Endowed Scholarship | $10,113 Established by First Citizens National Bank, headquartered in Upper Sandusky, Ohio, this scholarship will provide financial support to graduates from the following high schools only: Carey, Hardin-Northern, Mohawk, Riverdale, Wynford and Upper Sandusky. The A. Robert and Louanna R. Fleet Memorial Scholarship | $502,992 A. Robert Fleet (TU class of 1941) and native of Seneca County, Ohio, graduated from TU with a two-year degree and started his own company, Swissomatic Products. This scholarship will provide financial support to Seneca County high school graduates. The Frank/Heminger Endowed Scholarship Fund in Corporate Leadership | $85,038 This endowment was established in 2005 by retired President of Marathon Ashland Petroleum, LLC, J. Louis “Corky” Frank. Mr. Frank, a long-time mentor and friend of Gary Heminger, TU class of 1976, board chair emeritus, and CEO of Marathon Petroleum Corp. Income from the endowment provides scholarship support to TU students who demonstrate the personality traits and the entrepreneurial skills for success in the business world. Participation in extracurricular activities and a 3.0 grade point average are also required. The Rolland W. Friedley – Farmers State Bank Memorial Scholarship | $178,002 This scholarship was established by family and friends of the late Rolland Friedley, honored alumnus and loyal trustee of the University. Dr. Friedley served as a TU trustee for 33 years and was president of Farmer’s State Bank in New Washington, Ohio. 18

Recipients of this scholarship must be a junior or senior in high school with a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher.

Established after 20 years of service as a pediatrician in Seneca County, Ohio, by Dr. Prasad and Uma Kakarala, this scholarship will support a Seneca County, Ohio, high school graduate with a 2.5 grade point average or higher. The student must have participated in extra curricular activities and has demonstrated good character and leadership.

This scholarship was established by the late Jack H. (Class of 1965) and Susan Payne in memory of Jack’s parents, Orville and Irma Payne of Port Clinton and their love and support of golf. Income from this fund is to be used for general scholarship assistance to an undergraduate who participates in intercollegiate golf.

This fund was started by Fostoria Industries, Inc., on the occasion of the retirement of Eugene N. Schalk. The fund honors Mr. Schalk, a Tiffin University trustees, and his wife, Betty.

The Michael D. Gaietto Endowed Scholarship in Entrepreneurial Studies | $17,823 This scholarship fund was established in 1977 by Stephen E. Werling, a TU alumnus, in memory of his father-in-law, Michael D. Gaietto, to provide financial assistance to a full-time continuing student in good standing who is making clear progress toward graduation. Preference shall be given to students with an interest in entrepreneurial activities and who demonstrate financial need. The GAR Foundation Endowed Scholarship | $89,560 This fund was established through the generous support of the GAR Foundation of Akron, Ohio. Income from the endowment is being used to provide general scholarship support to students from Summit County. Marathon Minority Scholarship | $0 Established by Marathon Petroleum Company, this scholarship provides for four minority sophomore or junior students interested in business. The students must be involved in school activities and maintain a grade point average of 3.0 or higher. Special consideration will be given to those in financial need. The Mildred I. Hankey Scholarship | $302,300 Mildred Hankey established this scholarship in her last will and testament to be awarded annually to scholastically deserving students from a Seneca County high school for fulltime attendance at Tiffin University. The David and Patty Hayes MBA Gateway Endowed Scholarship | $118,261 Emeritus Trustee Dr. David Hayes (TU Class of 1974,1976 and Honorary Degree 2002) and his wife Patty, established this scholarship to be granted to a graduating senior of Tiffin University who wishes to continue their education in the University’s MBA Program. Financial need and evidence of a strong work ethic should take precedence in the selection process. TU’s Hayes Center for the Arts has been named in honor of David and Patty Hayes.

Paul and Susan Marion Scholarship | $19,000 This fund was established by Dr. and Mrs. Marion and alumni and friends of Tiffin University who wish to perpetuate the Marions’ legacy. The recipient of this scholarship fund must be an undergraduate student who had a high school grade point average of 3.0 or higher, held one of more leadership positions and has demonstrated financial need. The John and Joyce Millar Scholarship | $116,974 Tom Miller of Cicero, Indiana and John Millar of Tiffin, Ohio met while attending Michigan State University for graduate school in 1965, and have been friends ever since. To honor John’s success of more than thirty years of service to Tiffin University, including serving as Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dean Emeritus and Professor of Management, Tom Miller established the John and Joyce Millar Scholarship, an endowed fund of Tiffin University. The scholarship is restricted to junior or senior students currently pursuing any degree in any Tiffin University program at the undergraduate level. Recipients of the scholarship are to demonstrate good university and community citizenship standards, must be active in campus life and activities and have a minimum of a 3.0 GPA.

The Kyle Ryman Memorial Scholarship | $10,700 In memory of Kyle Garrett Ryman, this scholarship is restricted to a traditional undergraduate golf student who is between the age of 17 and 22. It may be expanded by one year only if Tiffin University, as part of its curriculum, expands to include an official internship/work-study/co-op program. The academic restrictions placed on this scholarship include a grade point average of 2.5 or better. The recipient should demonstrate an inherent financial need as well as good university and community relations and must meet the minimum requirements to advance in class rank during a four-year period.

The John R. Schumacher Endowed Scholarship | $10,500 Dr. Ronald and Dr. Lillian Schumacher established the John R. Schumacher Endowed Scholarship Fund to forever honor the memory of their late brother, John Schumacher. The scholarship supports an undergraduate student with a 2.5 grade point average who comes from Cuyahoga County and who demonstrates financial need. The Ernst Selig Law Enforcement Endowed Scholarship | $25,708 This scholarship was funded through the generous support of Mr. Ernst Selig of Hillsboro, Maryland. Mr. Selig enjoyed a long career in government and specialized in military intelligence. In 2007, he sought to dissolve his foundation which supported criminal justice scholarships and embarked on a national search of criminal justice schools to receive the residual of his

foundation. After several visits, he chose Tiffin University. Income from the endowment is being used to provide general scholarship support to full-time, undergraduate criminal justice students enrolled at TU. A 350 word (or more) essay will be written explaining why he/she wishes to follow a career in the field of law enforcement. The Daisy and Frederick Stone Scholarship | $70,924 This scholarship is in memory of Frederick C. Stone, Tiffin native and businessman, and in honor of Daisy Stone Yost, his wife, who has spent her career as an educator encouraging creativity in young minds. This scholarship is limited to a junior or senior student majoring in criminal justice, whose permanent residence is Seneca County, Ohio and who holds a 3.0 or better grade point average. Study Abroad Annual Scholarship | in process This scholarship has been established by Tiffin University employees to assist current students who choose to study abroad.

The Dr. John Millar Fund for Faculty Development | $7,537 This fund once endowed will be for faculty development as a tribute to Dr. John Millar’s 33 years of active and productive service to Tiffin University.

This scholarship was established by the members of The Tiffin Women’s Club--a local organization that was established in 1920. The Club strived to promote public welfare and good citizenship. Income from the endowment is being used to provide general scholarship support to junior students who are residents of Seneca County, Ohio, who have earned a 3.0 grade point average through their first two years at the University. Recipient must demonstrate good character and financial need for scholarship assistance.

This scholarship was established by Wilbur Hartman in memory of his only child, Vallerie Ann. Income from this endowment is being used to provide emergency, low interest loans for special needs of Tiffin University junior or senior students to help them retain admission. The Craycraft Hall Endowment Fund | $936,000

The James Todd Memorial Scholarship | $15,280 James Todd was a full-time professor of Criminal Justice at Tiffin University from 1995-2006. This scholarship was established by Jim’s wife, Mimi, after his untimely death in 2006 as a result of a car accident. Jim arrived at Tiffin University in 1995 and was a full-time Professor of Criminal Justice. The recipient must be an undergraduate, seated, main campus student who has completed their sophomore year and is a law enforcement major. The student should demonstrate improvement or maintain a strong grade point average since the start of their freshman academic year, provide proof of involvement in campus life, and provide references/ examples of strong moral character; all traits exemplified by Dr. James C. Todd. Webster Industries Endowed Scholarship | $1,250 The Webster Industries Endowed Scholarship fund supports the company’s belief in higher education. This gift will forever honor Webster Industries and their belief in higher education. The scholarship supports students seeking an undergraduate business degree at Tiffin University. The student must demonstrate loyalty to Tiffin University and a willingness to continue support for the university. No academic restrictions are placed on this scholarship.

The Edward J. Werling, Jr. Endowed Scholarship in HR Management | $17,823 This scholarship was established by TU Alum Stephen E. Werling (Class of 1977) and his wife Marilyn in memory of Stephen’s father Edward. The scholarship will provide financial assistance to a full-time, continuing student who is in good academic and personal standing and who is making clear progress toward graduation. Preference shall be given to students majoring in human resources and who demonstrate financial need. The George Whitfield, Jr. Endowed Scholarship | $29,000 Established by George Whitfield, Jr. (TU Class of 2001), this scholarship supports high school students from Stark County, Ohio who are involved in athletics, have financial need, a grade point average of 3.0 or greater, and have participated in two extra-curricular programs for six semesters in high school.

The Wayne and Virginia Kurtz Zahn Scholarship | $579,656 This scholarship is in memory of Wayne and Virginia Zahn. Wayne was president of National Machinery Company and a longtime community leader. He served as Trustee of Tiffin University from 1974 to 1992. Ginny was a loyal alum who graduated from TU in 1945. Together, Wayne and Ginny funded the construction of Zahn Hall as well as numerous other philanthropic activities for Tiffin University.

Hazel Craycraft Franks (Class of 1941), was a spirited entrepreneur, a member of Tiffin University’s Board of Trustees and devoted community leader. She supported many activities at Tiffin University during her lifetime. Tiffin University’s Craycraft Hall, a student residence hall, was dedicated in 1990 as a memorial to her parents, Charles H. Craycraft and Rose Parsons Craycraft and her brother, Eugene and also honors her late husband, Richard Franks. Through her generous bequest in her last will and testament, Dr. Franks has insured that Craycraft Hall will be maintained and replaced if needed. Income derived from the endowment is restricted to maintaining, refurbishing, improving, enlarging or replacing Craycraft Hall. The Franks Hall Endowment Fund | $865,000 Tiffin University dedicated Franks Hall in 1994 in honor of Hazel Craycraft Franks (TU Class of 1941) of Upper Sandusky, Ohio. Hazel was a spirited entrepreneur, businesswomen and a loyal friend of Tiffin University. Tiffin University awarded Hazel an honorary Doctor of Laws degree in 1993. She was a member of TU’s Board of Trustees from 1995 to 2011. Hazel was instrumental in providing funding to start varsity football at Tiffin University, reinvigorating and re-establishing the music program, as well as funding two buildings and two endowed funds. Through her generous bequest, in her last will and testament, Dr. Franks ensures that Franks Hall will be maintained and replaced if needed. Income derived from the endowment is restricted to maintaining, refurbishing, improving, enlarging or replacing Franks Hall.

The Dennis and Patty Foster Endowed Book Fund | $8,100 Dennis and Patty Foster started this endowment book fund during their visit to Tiffin University when Dennis was named Outstanding Business Leader of the Year in October 1998. Mr. Foster, a native of Fostoria, Ohio, was the Vice Chairman of Alltel Communications and the former CEO of 360 Communications. He is a native of rural Fostoria. Income from this endowment will be used to provide new library books to be shelved in the Pfeiffer Library of Tiffin University. The Diane and George Kidd, Jr. Endowed Lecture Series | $162,000 This scholarship was established by the Trustees of Tiffin University recognizing George and Diane Kidd’s 21 years of service as President and First Lady (1981-2002). The income is to be used for a speaker’s honorarium and for housing and food for the speaker while he or she is on campus. Each speaker is expected to lecture in both graduate and undergraduate business classes including a public lecture which includes the community at large. Each speaker is to be chosen by the Dean of the School of Business. The Charles L. McKillip Memorial Chair Business Fund | $68,000 Charles McKillip was a faculty member from 1927-1972. Annually, income from this endowment is to be used to provide academic support for the faculty member named chair. The recipient of the fund must be named by the Dean of School of Business upon approval of the Vice President of Academic Affairs and the President of Tiffin University. The Alfred M. and Grace E. Reichard Memorial Fund | $125,000 Alfred M. Reichard, along with F.J. Miller, purchased the Heidelberg Commercial College in 1912 and founded Tiffin Business University in 1917 and Tiffin University in 1939. This memorial is funded by a bequest of his wife, Grace Reichard. Income from the fund is to be used for general support of the University’s operations.
