I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to Tuttle. Whether you are a newcomer to the city or are returning after time away, I think that you will be pleasantly surprised at the quality of life that you will enjoy in Tuttle. I have always felt that Tuttle has been a hidden treasure in the metropolitan area.
Although we are just across the South Canadian River from larger communities such as Norman, Moore, and Oklahoma City, we have been very careful to maintain the small-town atmosphere that helps to make Tuttle such a special place to call home.
We are strategically located in the metro area. With major Interstates I-35 and I-44, as well as State Highways 37, 62, 76, 130, and 9 coming through Tuttle, you can be in virtually any community in the metro area within 20–30 minutes.

TUTTLE HISTORY
A L��� �� ��� P���
Sitting along the South Canadian River, about 30 miles southwest of Oklahoma City, Tuttle, Oklahoma, is a community with deep roots in agriculture and a history that stretches back to the days of the Chisholm Trail. Today, Tuttle is a growing town, combining its rural charm with proximity to the city to offer residents the best of both worlds.
Silver City: The Town before Tuttle
Before Tuttle was founded, the area known as Silver City was a central trading hub in the region. Located just north of modern-day Tuttle, Silver City played an important role in the cattle-driving days of the late 1800s. The town became home to a small but vibrant community, including a store, a blacksmith shop, and a hotel. This created a vital stop along the Chisholm Trail, which was used by cattle drivers moving from Texas to Kansas. Silver City became a key trading post, with early ranchers using the area to gather and care for their cattle, protecting them from roaming buffalo herds.
Silver City’s location made it an ideal place for traders to stop and rest, and it became a gathering spot for cattlemen and Native American tribes. The settlement had its own schoolhouse, which was built by the area’s leading cattlemen. It was here that Miss Meta Chestnut opened the first school in 1889. This school later moved to Minco, where it evolved into the El Meta Bond College.
In 1890, Silver City was relocated to Minco, and the old town site was abandoned. However, the history of
Silver City remains an important part of Tuttle’s past. Many of the early pioneers and settlers who passed through Silver City helped shape the development of Tuttle, and the stories of those early days continue to be passed down.
The Early Days of Tuttle
Tuttle’s origins date back to the early 1900s when the town was officially established in 1906. It was named after James H. Tuttle, a local rancher with Choctaw heritage. His ranch was part of a much larger agricultural area, and the fertile lands near the South Canadian River made it an ideal place for settlers to start farming and raising cattle.
In 1902, Tuttle’s first post office was established, and by 1906, the town was officially incorporated. Early businesses included dry goods stores, grain elevators, livery stables, and banks, all of which helped the ►
town develop and attract settlers.
Tuttle’s economy was driven by farming and cattle ranching, and its growth mirrored the expansion of Oklahoma itself.
Tuttle’s Growth and Development
Tuttle officially became a town in 1906, and its early development was fueled by the construction of the Frisco Railroad. This rail connection made it easier for farmers and ranchers to trade goods and shipped products from Tuttle to other parts of Oklahoma and beyond. The addition of the railroad spurred the construction of local businesses like banks, stores, and hotels, helping Tuttle establish a strong economic foundation.
Over the years, Tuttle’s population grew, and the town continued to develop. By the mid-20th century, Tuttle had established itself as a small, but vibrant community, with a population that hovered around 1,000. As the town grew, so did its ►
importance to the region. Tuttle’s close proximity to Oklahoma City helped attract new residents, and the town began to see steady growth in the 1970s and 1980s.
Tuttle Today: A Community with a Bright Future
Today, Tuttle is home to more than 7,000 residents. The town continues to grow, with new businesses and homes being built regularly. Tuttle’s small-town charm, combined with its location in the TriCity area, makes it an appealing place for families and individuals who want the peace and quiet of rural life but still need to be close to the amenities and opportunities offered by a larger city.
Tuttle is a town that celebrates both its history and its bright future. With new development, an active community, and a commitment to
preserving its heritage, Tuttle is a town where past and present come together to create a perfect place for current residents and future generations. •

The Tuttle community, located just southwest of the Oklahoma City metropolitan area, continues to experience accelerated growth. Tuttle is home to approximately 7,785 (2023 Census Estimate). Despite growth pressures, where there has been new construction in residential development, Tuttle has been able to maintain a small-town charm, community-oriented residents, rural atmosphere, and traditional values. It is clear Tuttle is an extremely attractive place to live, as evidenced by the influx of new residents.
The Tuttle community offers an attractive place for new residents, due to its exceptional quality of life and proximity to the Oklahoma City metropolitan area, which provides immense quality of life opportunities for the region. The Tuttle community offers an attractive place for folks to lay roots, exhibiting a quiet peaceful experience away from the hustle and bustle of the Oklahoma City urban area. The Tuttle community is adept at providing a quality livable atmosphere emphasizing safety, comfort, and peace of mind.
The Tuttle community leadership continues to address the transformation from a small, rural farming community to a growing residential community, which means that Tuttle faces many challenges and is faced with many critical decisions regarding its future. However, Tuttle is a “can-do” community. Making good decisions to address the impending growth challenges is a leadership strength moving the community forward in the right manner. As many residential neighborhoods are in construction phases, the city is prepared to meet the needs of today and the future.
The City of Tuttle offers water, wastewater, trash collection, curb-side recycling, and natural gas services. Our residents and businesses pay for these services in one combined monthly bill, and they get to directly elect their Council-members who oversee these critical services. In meeting customer services expectations, Tuttle continues to face critical decisions regarding infrastructure and services to support current and future populations. In 2024, a new wastewater treatment facility began operation, to serve additional residential and commercial business locations providing expanded economic growth and quality of life opportunities that comes with a growing community. In addition, city caretakers advocate and provide customer service at elevated levels to maintain a good relationship between city government and community customers.
Community assets that add quality of life opportunities for residents include the Skate Park, Farmer’s Market, Theater, Museum, and Tuttle Public Library. Schrock Park and Hartin Hambelton Memorial Park provide both active and passive recreational pursuits that include baseball, soccer, and disc golf choices. ►
I appreciate the opportunity to serve this fine community as Tuttle City Manager and look forward to future community building to Tuttle preferences. Local Parks in Tuttle
Hartin-Hambleton Memorial Park is one of Tuttle’s most popular parks, known for its scenic walking trail and the “Tiger's Claw", an 18-hole disc golf course. FROM TUTTLE TO TABLE

When people think of Braum’s, they usually picture a double-dip cone on a hot summer day or a gallon of milk in the fridge. Around here, we know it runs much deeper. Just down the highway lies the heart of it all: the Braum family farm, dairy, bakery, and processing plant, all rooted right here in Tuttle. It’s not just something we drive by, but something this community is built on.
Braum’s isn’t just another big brand. It’s a homegrown operation that’s deeply connected to our area. The Braums Family Farm in Tuttle spans about 10,000 acres along the South Canadian River. It’s more than a farm; it’s a fullscale food operation that stretches from the soil to the store shelves. Crops are grown here. Calves are born and raised here. Cows are milked here. It all feeds directly into Braum’s signature dairy products found in stores across five states.
One of the standout features of the Tuttle operation is Braum’s focus on A2 milk, a type of milk that can be easier on digestion for some people. “Today, the Braum Family Farm is proud to be home to the largest A2 dairy herd in the United States, with over 15,000 A2 dairy cows on the milking line and more than 40,000 A2 dairy cows combined on their farms in Tuttle and Shattuck, Oklahoma. It has taken over a decade to build the A2 dairy herd,” says the Braum’s team. To match that growth, they’ve built a massive, state-ofthe-art milking facility in Tuttle. Imagine 800 cows milked every 32 minutes in barns that are heated in the winter and air-conditioned in the summer. That milk doesn’t travel far—it heads straight down the road to Braum’s 260,000-square-foot processing plant, which operates seven days a week to keep things fresh.
Freshness is at the center of everything Braum’s does. While other companies might use powdered milk or outsource parts of their production, Braum’s keeps everything in-house. Their mechanical vapor re-compressor (MVR) naturally concentrates their milk, creating fat-free and reduced-fat options with more calcium and protein, without adding a thing.
And then there’s the ice cream. Every creamy scoop starts with fresh A2 milk and real ingredients, mixed and frozen right on the farm. Their unique “Glacier” ►
machine crafts frozen treats like ice cream sandwiches and cones by extruding actual ice cream rather than freezing a liquid mixture, giving them that rich, smooth taste we all know and love.
In 2010, Braum’s moved its massive bakery to Tuttle as well. The 240,000square-foot facility produces everything from hamburger buns to cookies, cones, and even roasted nuts for sundaes. What’s baked today is on store shelves tomorrow, because freshness is always the priority.
All of these pieces—the farm, the bakery, the processing plant, and the warehouse—work together seamlessly. Every Braum’s store, whether in Texas, Missouri, Arkansas, Kansas, or
Oklahoma, receives a delivery of fresh products every other day. Their delivery trucks even carry three separate temperature zones to keep everything just right. This commitment to freshness keeps their footprint close to home, with stores located within about a 300-mile radius of Tuttle.
What began in 1968 with a single store in Oklahoma City has grown into more than 300 stores across the region. At its core, Braum’s remains a family business with deep Oklahoma roots, and Tuttle is proud to be where it all happens.
So next time you’re enjoying a scoop of Rocky Road or pouring a glass of A2 milk, you can smile knowing it all came from right here in Tuttle, where quality, care, and community come together one cow, one cookie, and one cone at a time. •
SENIOR CITIZEN CENTER
The Tuttle Senior Citizen Center is more than just a gathering place. It’s the heart of a close-knit, community-driven group that celebrates friendship, fun, and good old-fashioned home cooked meals. Open to everyone, the Senior Center offers a warm, welcoming space where seniors and community members connect over shared interests, lively activities, and a whole lot of laughter.
One of the Center’s most beloved features is its weekday lunch program, serving up comforting, home-style meals every Monday through Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. With a rotating menu that changes monthly (always available on their Facebook group), it’s the perfect excuse to enjoy a hearty meal and some friendly conversation.
But it’s not just about the food; the Tuttle Senior Center knows how to have fun. Regulars get playfully competitive over puzzles, dominoes, and pool, with plenty of bragging rights on the line. Whether you’re dropping by for the fellowship, the food, or the excitement of a close pool match, you’re sure to feel right at home.

Here are a few local groups making a big impact:
Sparrow OHCE: Local Learning, Global Giving
Founded in 2023 by Kim Custer, Sparrow OHCE (Oklahoma Home and Community Education) blends traditional skills such as food preservation, gardening, and kitchen tips with strong community ties. “It’s the older teaching the younger… we are building leadership and community,” says Custer.
One of their key contributions is Operation Christmas Child. Each year, members pack up to 200 shoe-boxes filled with toys, supplies, and essentials for children around the world. In total, Custer delivers more than 1,600 boxes from the local area. At an OHCE meeting, guest speaker Deb Roberts shared her experience distributing shoe-boxes in Kenya, reminding members that this program operates in more than 170 countries year-round.
Sparrow OHCE meets the second Monday of each month at 6 PM with rotating home and community topics.
Tuttle Historical Society: Honoring the Past
Since 1984, the Tuttle Historical Society has worked to preserve local history, from vintage structures to family stories. The group restored the historic 1925 Sloan gas station as a museum and meeting space, filling it with historic items and photos.
Tuttle Round Up Club: Preserving Rodeo Traditions
Founded in 1942, the Tuttle Round Up Club (TRC) promotes rodeo and gymkhana events while fostering community spirit. In addition to their annual rodeo, they host Playdays twice a month, offering age-specific, family-friendly competitions focused on horsemanship. “We’re very family-friendly and willing to teach,” says a club representative.
They meet on the third Monday of each month at 201 E. Main with a potluck and an open-door atmosphere. Membership is low-cost, and the club supports dreams both big and small. ►
TRC also contributes economically by drawing visitors for events like the OSRCA state competition in October and by offering their space as a community venue.
Their message: “We are still here and thriving. Get involved and let your kids stay on their horses as long as they can — they start driving soon enough.”
Tuttle Education Foundation
“Enhancing education through community involvement for Tuttle Public Schools.”
The Foundation hosts an annual social and auction to fund teacher grants.
