The first midwifery education in Finland started in the Convent quarter in Turku.
The temporary University of Applied Sciences of Southwest Finland joined Turku University of Applied Sciences.
Turku Drawing School started its operations as the first provider of fine arts education in Finland.
The operations of Turku UAS were made permanent.
Finland’s first business school, Turku Business College, began its operations.
The educational supply expanded to cover several fields.
The success story continues Today, Turku University of Applied Sciences is a higher education community of more than 10,000 students, operating in Finland’s largest campus area, Turku Science Park, Linnankatu Art Campus and IoT Campus in Salo. The Turku school of technological sciences started its operations in Richter’s house in Multavieru. The temporary technical polytechnic of Turku started in Sepänkatu.

As a university of applied sciences, Turku UAS employs a hands-on approach to problem solving and innovation. Every day, our Research, Development and Innovation (RDI) activities are tailored to the needs of people and societies with a wide network of collaborators around the world. • 28 research groups • 200 RDI projects implemented each year • One third of the projects international • PMO of over 50 project management experts • Funding consists of up to 40 different funding sources Measured by the amount of external funding for RDI activities, we are one of the most successful universities of applied sciences in Finland. For product development and testing, we offer state-of-the-art facilities, laboratories and equipment.
