IMPACTING OUR COMMUNITY $1,761,786 PRESCRIPTIONS FILLED Turning Points free clinic helps Manatee Residents receive over $1.7 Million in free prescription assistance each year. That is just one of the services the onsite clinic uses to manage chronic illnesses. Empowering people to manage their chronic illness has a far reaching impact. The result is improved physical health as well as better mental health, increased life expectancy, the ability to maintain productivity and employment, reduced medical costs and increased quality of life. And that’s just the beginning!
HOME SWEET HOME Turning Points saw record numbers of individuals and families needing housing assistance this year and we stepped up to the challenge. Our 6 Case Managers ended or prevented homelessness for 685 households. That is 929 adults and 976 children who are stably housed! And we are proud to report that 87% of households helped at Turning Points remained housed for 12 months following assistance.
“Home is the base where everything begins.” - Kelly CHANGING LIVES, ONE SMILE AT A TIME The negative impacts of poor dental health go well beyond just having bad teeth, they also affect overall health, employment, medical costs, quality of life, relationships and well-being. We proudly provided 960 of our neighbors with free dental care at Turning Points this past year including 288 Project Smile participants who received partial or full dentures. 98% of Project Smile patients reported an improved quality of life! We love the countless stories of how a new smile have resulted in new jobs and promotions, new confidence, improved relationships and an enhanced outlook on life.

BACK ON TRACK Deja is a medical assistant and a single mom of 3 children. During the COVID-19 pandemic, her hours were cut in half and she struggled to pay her rent and bills. Deja was 3 months behind when she met with a Turning Points Case Manager. This was difficult for her because she never had to seek assistance before. "Turning Points helped me get back on track by paying my rent and utility bills. I can now see a positive future and I want to give back to help others in my similar situation."
A SMILE TO LIGHT UP A ROOM Matthieu struggled for years with poor dental health and was missing several teeth. He couldn't afford the dental work that was needed so he came to Turning Points for help. Through several visits, he received dentures, and a new smile. "I had a lot of dental work done. The team was great all the way around between the people at the front desk and the dentist. This is a great staff that makes you feel welcome and comfortable."
