irst take look back at how Yahweh (God) dealt with his chosen people, the children of Abraham, who were suffering under the one world empire of Egypt ruled by the Pharaoh kings. This is what he said to Moses: “Now therefore, behold, the cry of the children of Israel is come unto me: and I have also seen the oppression wherewith the Egyptians oppress them. Come now therefore, and I will send thee unto Pharaoh, that thou mayest bring forth my people the children of Israel out of Egypt. (Exod 3:9-10) They say that history repeats itself many times and this is so often true. The children of Israel had already been saved by Joseph and had prospered in the Nile delta, the land of Goshen, to the extent that most had houses. They certainly had animals and jobs within the mighty nation

of Egypt under the Pharaohs. It all seemed well for probably 320 years or more with no obvious reason to go back to Canaan, but then life turned against them as the political scene changed and the Pharaoh became more anti-Semitic especially as the Hebrew population increased to nearly 1 million men. This turning seems to have started when Moses was born and then escalated when he tried to rescue his people by his own strength (Ex 2:11-15) which would have been approximately 40 years before they eventually left Egypt (Ex 12:40) when he was 40 years old (Acts 7:23). The children of Israel were effectively refugees that had integrated into the culture that supported them. For many generations they probably even considered themselves partly Egyptian (if only in name) however they were never fully integrated because they were shepherds (Gen 46:34).

A New Era begins Many centuries later the ‘ekklesia’ (government of grace) that Jesus the Messiah established from the remnant of Jews that by grace believed (Heb 8:8) is similarly called an ‘holy nation’ that exists within the political one world power, but now of Rome (1 Pet 2:9). Then, in AD 70 just as Jesus had predicted, Israel was destroyed by Rome, the Kingdom of God would now spread invisibly in men’s hearts (spirit) from Judea, Samaria and to the uttermost parts of the earth, just like yeast that spreads through dough when kneaded. It’s been tough at times through history, persecution, resistance and world turmoil, but the message of the Kingdom gospel has indeed spread and many have believed and are believing the truth in all parts of the earth even to this day. Nothing can stop the faith of God hidden in the heart. No longer a single physical nation (Israel), but now on a much bigger ‘global scale’ (All nations),Yahweh’s people (the body of Christ) are entering into a similar phase of history to that of the early Hebrews, when the political leaders turn against faith in Christ and against God as Lord! This political shift is done by God’s enemy Satan (Matt 13:37-39) and this ultimately leads to a great persecution or tribulation for the saints,(see Rev 13:10). These days are already upon us as Islam and other regimes rise like beasts and Satan sows his evil ones among the nations of the world! So what else did Jesus teach about these final days - what we call the Last Days? Did He foresee that which was to come, just as he had done regarding the children of Israel in Egypt, when he told Abraham the plan? (Gen 15:13). These secrets of the ages have been given to His disciples in code form through the

parables that Jesus spoke (Matt 13:11) and which the Spirit interprets to us who know Him by that same Spirit. This is a crucial point, because many men down the ages have tried to interpret or understand these parables purely by intellectualism or logic, that is by calculation rather than by knowing Him and the ‘whole’ of His Word, and often taking things ‘out of context’ ignoring what God has already said. God’s Word does not change, but He can change his mind if he so chooses, just as you or I can express our free will, so does He (Ex 32:14). However he will never go back on His spoken Word or His nature of love and that’s why we need to know ‘every word that proceeds from the mouth ofYahweh!’ (Matt 4:4) The whole history of Israel and the Prophets has been given to us as an example of this fact, as Paul states: “Now all these things happened unto them for examples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the ages are come.” (1 Corin 10:11) I think you’ll agree that this is astonishing, but it’s because the Father foresaw what would come against us who want to follow His Son wholeheartedly in the Last Age of time. He has not appointed us to wrath, but we will surely suffer persecution, trials, temptations and demonic opposition just as He did (John 15:19-21). This is decidedly unpleasant to the flesh in which we live. We prefer to live comfortably and without any opposition, however we must not compromise and fall into the very trap that the Pharisees fell into with the Roman authorities - hypocrisy. Jesus always warned against this as Matthew points out: “Then understood they how that he bade them not beware of the leaven of bread, but of the doctrine of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.”

The Parables of the End Historians speak of the various ‘ages past’, such as the ‘steam age’ or ‘middle ages’ and ‘dark ages’. These are mans’ categorization of the passing of time and of the kingdoms of the earth. The Bible also reveals God’s view of the ‘ages’ and speaks of the ‘age to come’ and so we need to understand these and know where we are within His revelation of time. Jesus spoke a number of parables regarding the ‘end of the ages’ which reveal many things so that we can understand what the Prophets foresaw. We must also interpret the signs of the times (Matt 16:3). These truths have been made impossible to understand without the Spirit of grace, in order to separate out those who believe and those who do not. Jesus himself emphasises this division when quoting from Isaiah: “Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand. And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, ‘By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive: For this people’s heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.’ (Matt 13:13-15; Isaiah 6:9-11). This blindness to understanding Christ’s Word comes because of three deadly hindrances highlighted by Isaiah: 1. A heart that is waxed gross (hardened) 2. Ears dull of hearing (ignoring truth) 3. Eyes that have closed (accepting evil) Before moving on to the meaning of parables let’s briefly cover these issues, so

4 Day of the Lord

that there’s no hindrance to hearing and understanding by the Holy Spirit.

1. A Hardened Heart The light of a candle burns bright and the wax melts, and as it moves away from the light downwards it begins to harden as it cools. This is a visual of what can easily happen to our inner heart over time if it moves away from the Light of the Word of God. It’s what happened to the Israelites on many occasions and was challenged by the Prophets throughout their history. We are also warned of this danger: “Beware, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief in departing from the living God; but exhort one another daily, while it is called “Today,” lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin. For we have become partakers of Christ if we hold the beginning of our confidence steadfast to the end, while it is said: ‘Today, if you will hear His voice, do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion.’ ” (Heb 3:12-15). To keep our hearts soft before Jesus we must be ‘repentant’ admitting our weaknesses, faults and sins and seeking the power of His Spirit to deliver us from evil. Sin of any kind will harden your heart towards the truth of the Word and prevent you hearing the Spirit and wisdom. His plan is that you overcome sin and live a holy life free from its hindrance.Your heart is the wellspring of life as noted by Jesus and also Solomon (John 4:14; Prov 4:23). Clear it out while you can!

2. Ears Dull of Hearing Humans have an amazing ability to hear and then completely forget what was said! As the saying goes, ‘in one ear and out the other’!’ We are all guilty of this, especially

o

omega-ministries.org

when it comes to the Word. A hardened heart does not want to hear any truth, but prefers to select what suits its dark motive to fulfil the lust of the flesh. Even so, Yahweh still speaks through His prophets and His only Son. “Moreover He said to me:“Son of man, receive into your heart all My words that I speak to you, and hear with your ears. And go, get to the captives, to the children of your people, and speak to them and tell them, ‘Thus says the Lord God,’ whether they hear, or whether they refuse.” (Ezekiel 3:10-11). The apostle Paul tells us that ‘faith comes by hearing and hearing by theWord of God’ (Rom 10:17), but it’s only possible to truly ‘hear’ the word if your heart (spirit) receives it. After all Jesus spoke to many the living Word and yet they refused it, preferring their own plans and desires. There is another consequence of ‘dull’ ears - we fail to hear the cry of the poor, needy and oppressed, not challenging those that exploit them! The heart that will not receive the Word of Love will be deceived by the words of this world system which uses pride, ambition, lies and fear leading to selfishness, greed and death.

Jesus said that the ‘eye is the lamp of the body’ (Matt 6:22-23) and what you focus on you become full of. Watching evil and enjoying it, lusting over others and their goods, not reading the Word of God in the Scriptures but preferring made up myths and stories (movies) has a long term spiritual consequences and ‘how great is that darkness’. The lust of the eyes was the original failing of Eve in the beginning after listening to the serpent’s lies! (Gen 3:6). Thank the Lord that the opposite of this wickedness is the righteousness of Jesus the Messiah who wholeheartedly obeyed the voice of the Father and was not distracted by the things of this world or of Satan’s temptations. He truly is the WAY and the TRUTH and the LIFE and the only solution to this terrible pit that man has slipped into: “Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ. For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily; and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power.” (Col 2:8-10). 3. Eyes that have closed He alone can give us the revelation and This leads us into the third hindrance, vision to see by the Holy Spirit into His blind eyes. We have all heard the phrase heavenly presence, in order that we might ‘turning a blind eye’ when bribes are made be changed by His grace from glory to or an injustice happens that is ignored or glory. We must make sure that we ‘know covered up. We pretend not to see what is him’ not just ‘know about him’. We must plainly happening ‘before our eyes’. These be ‘born again’ with a new soft heart issues in the earth such as hunger, poverty, of ‘flesh’ instead of a hardened stony injustice and cruelty should horrify us and rebellion unwilling to change! (John 3:7) stir us to take righteous action. However, “I will give you a new heart and put a new our hearts can become blind to these real spirit within you; I will take the heart of horrors as we push them away not wanting stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of to feel the pain and burden that the Father flesh.” (Ezek 36:26). in heaven feels.

The Wheat and the Tares So onward with the Kingdom parables and the end of the ages and what really will happen at the return of the Holy One of Israel, the Lord Almighty. This may not be what you have been taught previously on the subject, it may be a surprise and you may feel challenged or even offended, but consider Jesus own words carefully. As mentioned before their are certain ‘ages’ that the Bible speaks of and as we have seen from Paul’s writing, those who have existed since the work and resurrection of Jesus are in the ‘end of the ages’ (1 Corin 10:11). This means that we are experiencing something unique in human history - the last ages of all time! This is further confirmed by the writer of the epistle to the Hebrews when he states: “God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things...” (Heb 1:1). Paul also talks about the mystery that was hidden in ages past (Eph 3:5) and of the ages to come (Eph 2:7; see Rev 20:4) which from the beginning has been hidden in Christ who created all things! (1 Corin 2:7). So far this last age or ‘age of grace’ and of the ‘new covenant’ has lasted approx 1,985 years since the crucifixion. This sounds a long time, but when you consider that from Adam to Jesus there was 4,000 years it’s not that long! Jesus gave us the parable of the Wheat and Tares (Weeds) as an explanation of what will happen upon his return and the end of this final age. Through this story we are given an explanation of the process of separation and judgement that will

6 Day of the Lord

occur. Remember this is the Word of God himself: “Another parable He put forth to them, saying: “The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field; but while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat and went his way. But when the grain had sprouted and produced a crop, then the tares also appeared. So the servants of the owner came and said to him,‘Sir, did you not sow good seed in your field? How then does it have tares?’ He said to them,‘An enemy has done this.’The servants said to him,‘Do you want us then to go and gather them up?’ But he said,‘No, lest while you gather up the tares you also uproot the wheat with them. Let both grow together until the harvest, and at the time of harvest I will say to the reapers,“First gather together the tares and bind them in bundles to burn them, but gather the wheat into my barn.”’” (Matt 13:24-30). Notice the key players in this story; the man; the field; the wheat; the tares; the enemy; the servants; the harvest. Now before the interpretation of this parable is given Jesus tells two other parables, the Mustard Seed and the Leaven (yeast). These two show the Kingdom of heaven to be something that is 1. Gradually grows and 2. Spreads unseen. The kingdom invisibly expands or grows to a large size within the dough (the world). It’s imperceptible to the world at large. However this takes time to occur just as a large tree takes years to grow. (so far approx 1,985 years). Jesus then brings the interpretation of the parable of the wheat to his disciples in private after sending the rest away: “He answered and said to them:“He who sows

the good seed is the Son of Man (Jesus). The field is the world, the good seeds [wheat] are the sons of the kingdom (believers), but the tares are the sons of the wicked one [anti-Christ].The enemy who sowed them is the devil, the harvest is the end of the age, and the reapers are the angels. Therefore as the tares are gathered and burned in the fire, so it will be at the end of this age. The Son of Man will send out His angels, and they will remove out of His kingdom all things that offend, and those who practice lawlessness, and will cast them into the furnace of fire. There will be wailing and gnashing of teeth. Then the righteous will shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. He who has ears to hear, let him hear! (Matt 13:37-43) So that this parable is not subject to misinterpretation Jesus gives the understanding of it to the apostles. Firstly, and crucially, there is no mention of taking the wheat away from the tares before the judgement (i.e. a secret ‘rapture’) in fact the complete opposite is true, the tares (nonbelievers) are taken (or weeded) out of the earth by angels and thrown into the fire first, thus leaving the sons of the kingdom to inherit the earth! Jesus had earlier preached this “Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth” (Matt 5:5). This is what Jesus calls the harvest or end of this age (and all ages), when the dead are also raised. Then the righteous will shine as the sun!

History Repeats Itself When Moses and Aaron came at Yahweh’s command to deliver Israel from the Egyptians, they were all still there when the judgements came upon Pharaoh and his kingdom. However the Hebrews were

omega-ministries.org

protected (in Goshen) and watched as Yahweh glorified His name by judging their enemies before their eyes! They were unharmed by any of the destruction that came on the land and the final judgement was a message to the world of how He was going to bring salvation by His Son the Lamb by His blood. Yahweh used this judgement to make His name great as he had already revealed to Abram, His friend: “And he said unto Abram,‘Know of a surety that thy seed shall be a stranger in a land that is not theirs, and shall serve them; and they shall afflict them four hundred years; And also that nation, whom they shall serve, will I judge: and afterward shall they come out with great substance.” (Gen 15:13-14). When the angel of death came through Egypt that night in the final hour, late at night, like a thief, the firstborn of the wicked died without mercy - they were taken. It was at this point that God’s people were told to be ready to exit and head for a new home after being protected by the blood of the Lamb. This deliverance was a foreshadowing of what will happen when the King returns to earth as judge upon the wicked. This ‘marriage’ is not something done secretly, but publicly with witnesses and a celebration supper! Why would Jesus elope with his treasured bride in secret when He can defeat his enemies and plunder their goods as well!? This is when the kingdoms of the world become His and ours with it’s capital in Zion! This is the process of the end according to Jesus himself and this must therefore be the cornerstone to interpreting and understanding all the subsequent teaching of the apostles thereafter. He is both the cornerstone and plumb-line against which all truth is measured. When we now read Jesus other words regarding people

being ‘taken’ in Luke 17 we get a clearer understanding of what this means: “I tell you, in that night there will be two men in one bed: the one will be taken and the other will be left. Two women will be grinding together: the one will be taken and the other left. Two men will be in the field: the one will be taken and the other left.” (Luke 17:34-36). Make no mistake Jesus is not talking about people being raptured here, rather it’s about the opposite - people are taken by the angels of death and literally die, being thrown into the eternal fire, confirmed by the concluding words of this parable: “Where, Lord?” they asked. He replied,“Where there is a dead body, there the vultures will gather.” . (see also Isaiah 4).

Christ (Rev 20:5). The raised believers do not fly into heaven (or disappear secretly) but stand again on the earth with new bodies as Jesus touches the earth. He is the resurrection and the life. EVERYONE still alive on earth will see this (Rev 1:7)! So Jesus comes down to earth from heaven as promised by the angels in Acts 1:11: “ “Men of Galilee,” they said,“why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven”. Just as those disciples watched Jesus go in a ‘glory cloud’ and then ascend up, believers will watch Him come down again to earth in a ‘glory cloud’ - wow! 2. Paul then says ‘after that’ dramatic event ‘we who are still alive and are left’ v17. This implies that there has been previous 1 Thessalonians 4 judgements and perhaps a terrible This is a section of Paul’s letter often quoted as evidence of a ‘rapture’, however persecution and some are left (Rev 13:10; 14:13-14), then these believers will be if we now read this in the light of Jesus transfigured in the blink of an eye into own teaching we see that it takes on a their new spiritual bodies as promised. different meaning altogether! “According to the Lord’s word, we tell you 3. This all happens after the 6 major that we who are still alive, who are left until the judgements on the wicked of the earth. Notice this crucial sequence of events: The Greek word used for ‘taken’ is 1. Jesus and the Father return visibly ‘Harpazo’ and is defined thus: to the whole world with loud noises and harpázo – seize by force; snatch up, flashing lightning and not in secret. Those suddenly and decisively – like someone true believers who are alive will NOT seizing bounty (spoil, a prize); to take by precede those who have already died in

an open display of force (i.e. not covertly or secretly). Also the Greek word Paul uses for ‘air’ in Thessalonians 4:17 is ‘aér’ a completely different word to ‘sky’ or ‘heaven’ which is ‘ouranon’, and literally means ‘the lower air we breathe’ (aér), that is atmosphere on or near ground level!

lightening in this way, the whole world will know that the King has come for his own and they will be running to hide from the legions of reaping angels that will be chasing them down, then as well the hailstones of the last judgement fall as we depart with Jesus in the cloud. Firstly Jesus face changes like the face of Moses did before him (Ex 34:29) and he “Woe unto you that desire the day of the Lord! becomes like lightning, then he meets with to what end is it for you? the day of the Lord two prophets who had died thousands of is darkness, and not light. ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.” (Rev 1:7-8) “And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains; And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb: For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand? (Rev 6:15-17). So we see that the return of the Lord is not in secret and takes place over a Day and also a final Hour and although those who know Jesus by faith are changed in the twinkling of an eye into their glorious new body (as they enter His glory cloud) those outside are judged most severely particularly because at this time they will have likely sworn allegiance to the Son of Perdition (Antichrist powers) in order to continue trading in the new world order (Rev 16:2). ““Salt is good, but if it loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is fit neither for the soil nor for the manure pile; it is thrown out. “Whoever has ears to hear, let them hear.”

he both knows us and accepts us, it’s very different to the old way of obeying particular laws. This is what the apostle John says about this: “This is how we know that we live in him and he in us: He has given us of his Spirit.” (1 John 4:13) The uniqueness of Jesus was pointed out by the last prophet of the old testament, John the Preparer (baptiser) when he said: “I baptize you with water for repentance. But after me comes one who is more powerful than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptise you with the Holy Spirit and fire.” (Matt 3:11). When Jesus himself baptises you with the Holy Spirit certain things should happen that are unforgettable and which make it genuine. Firstly, you will have an increased desire to know more about Jesus and about the Father because that is the role of the Spirit - to lead us to the Truth (John 16:13). This also means that you will have a genuine hunger for the Word of God - in the Bible (1 John 2:5) even if you do not understand what it all means (Heb 5:13).You will also have a sense that Jesus is speaking to you directly by this Word and also deep inside, even sometimes even audibly (John 10:27). What to do Next? Secondly, you will have a desire to pray Due to the seriousness of this information or talk to God and to hear his reply, so you need to grasp the reality of your own that you can do what He says. This is what fasting to regain this focus will also be the apostle Paul recommends: evident and a normal part of a new lifestyle focussed on pleasing God (Matt “Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves. especially towards fellow believers, what is termed fruit of the Spirit (Gal 5:22) Finally, you see that supernatural gifts begin to operate in your life, speaking other tongues, healing, demonic conflict and prophecy etc. (1 Corin 12) Now initially you may be boosted in all of these phenomena, but you soon discover that by drifting back into worldly ways of living (flesh) the Spirit is grieved and withdraws, but only in order to draw you back to Jesus and the Word of Truth. This is why

Paul said this: “Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. ISAIAH 40:28-31
