Turner Industries Tops ABC’s 2026 Top Performers List Baton Rouge, La. — For the fifth consecutive year, Turner Industries has claimed the No. 1 spot on the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) 2026 Top Performers list. The annual ranking recognizes contractor members for excellence in health and safety, quality, and project excellence, ranked by number of hours worked.

Sasol Safety and Health Fair Lake Charles, La. — Turner Industries took part in Sasol’s Safety and Health Fair at the Sasol facility in Lake Charles, Louisiana, bringing energy, engagement, and a crowdpleasing pot of jambalaya to the event.

Roaring ’20s at the HASC Tailgate Houston, Texas — Turner Industries joined over 7,000 attendees at the 2026 Houston Area Safety Council Tailgate Extravaganza for a “Roaring ‘20s” themed celebration focused on safety and connection. During the festivities, the Turner team was awarded for Best Entertainment.

Dow St. Charles Employee Recognition Hahnville, La. — Turner is proud to celebrate Jeffery Kirkland who was recently named employee of the month at the Dow St. Charles site. Since he arrived on site, Jeffery has stood out for his leadership, safety focus, and positive attitude.

GCGV Contractor Safety Award Gregory, Texas — Turner Industries was honored with the 2025 Gold Award from Gulf Coast Growth Ventures (GCGV) in recognition of outstanding safety performance. This achievement reflects the team’s continued commitment to maintaining the highest safety standards across all operations.

ABC Diamond STEP Award Corpus Christi, Texas — Turner Industries recently received a Diamond Level STEP Award from the ABC Texas Mid Coast Chapter. The STEP (Safety, Training, and Evaluation Process) Awards honor companies for outstanding safety performance and a commitment to a safe workplace.

Making an IMPACT Baton Rouge, La. — When Turner called on its workforce to name a new Human Organizational Performance (HOP) program, Calvin Brown answered the call. Calvin’s submission, IMPACT (Improving Mindset, Performance, Accountability, Culture, and Teamwork), was selected from a field of strong entries as the official name for Turner’s HOP initiative. Calvin is a superintendent for Turner Specialty Services at the ExxonMobil Baton Rouge facility.

Safety Has a Name Safety at Turner means having each other’s backs. Our “I’ve Got Your Six” initiative now includes daily safety exchange cards.

Every morning, employees swap personalized cards, taking direct responsibility for a specific coworker’s well-being for the duration of the shift. This simple exchange makes the mission tangible — putting safety in personal terms. At the end of the day, employees return their cards, and the cycle begins again the next morning with a new coworker to keep the focus dynamic.

Richard Jensen was recently recognized at a Marathon Galveston Bay site safety meeting for his dedication to the “Be Someone” campaign. His efforts include helping a client reduce rental costs, frequently presenting at site-wide safety meetings, assisting the Marathon alliance in Minnesota, and taking swift action to aid an injured coworker.

After questioning a permit that incorrectly listed “no lockout” for a vessel entry, the crew contacted the safety manager to verify the isolation requirements. Their refusal to start work until a blind LOTO box was identified and verified prevented a life-critical hazard and ensured the job was performed safely.

The TSS maintenance group at Honeywell UOP has gone above and beyond to mentor new hire James Bourgeois, guiding him through training and his involvement with ABC school. This team’s encouragement and influence led James to pursue professional certification in planning and scheduling.

Sonia’s JSA was selected for its exceptional step-by-step breakdown of tasks, which provided specific hazard identification and precise mitigation for every stage of the job.

To address the safety risks of manually transporting hot oil screens up stairs, Robert and Cameron developed a trolley and pulley system to move the equipment to the deck, eliminating a manual handling hazard.

While preparing to demo a concrete pier, Alfonso used leak detection liquid to identify an uncontained natural gas leak that posed a risk of a fire. By catching the hazard and notifying the client, Alfonso ensured the site was completely safe before any work began.

What It Takes to Get the Job Done Right

E X PA N D I N G T H E I N S P E C T I O N F L E E T : HausBots Crawler and Skygauge Drone Turner Specialty Services continues to invest in advanced inspection technology, adding two new tools to its growing drone and robotics fleet.

The HB3 by HausBots crawler is a wall-climbing robot that uses proprietary AEROGRIP technology to adhere to and traverse a wide range of surfaces — including stainless steel, concrete, and composites — without magnets or vacuum seals. Capable of carrying various NDT payloads, it supports ultrasonic thickness measurement, visual inspection, and corrosion mapping on assets where traditional access would require scaffolding, rope access, or confined space entry.

The Skygauge brings ultrasonic testing to aerial inspection. Using patented thrust-vectoring technology for stable, precise flight, the drone makes direct contact with elevated surfaces to capture accurate wall thickness readings — eliminating the need for rope access, scaffolding, or boom lifts and keeping inspection personnel safely on the ground.

Together, these additions strengthen Turner Specialty Services’ ability to deliver thorough, efficient, and safer inspections across tanks, vessels, piping, and elevated structures.

Equipment Division Adds New Goldhofer Trailers Turner Industries’ Equipment, Rigging, and Specialized Transportation Division recently added 20 lines of Goldhofer PST/SL-E Split Units to its fleet, making Turner the first company in the United States to purchase these specialized trailers.

The Goldhofer PST/SL-E units are purpose-built for the heavy lift and specialized transportation demands Turner’s crews face daily. The trailers’ split-unit design allows operators to widen the transporter deck from a standard 10 feet to 16 feet, delivering greater load stability and reducing the number of axle lines required to move oversized equipment. That capability translates directly to safer, more efficient operations — whether Turner teams are transporting modules across a job site or managing the precise work of barge loading and unloading along the Gulf Coast and beyond.

At ConExpo in Las Vegas, Goldhofer ceremoniously presented Turner Industries' Equipment Division with the keys to 20 lines of PST/SL-E Split Units.

ONE SOLUTION IN ACTION: Turner’s Growing Role at Ecolab Garyville Turner Industries began work at Ecolab’s Garyville, Louisiana facility in December 2025, and the relationship has taken hold quickly. In just a few months, Turner has deployed multiple service groups to the site — including small caps, SIPA, crane and rigging, and Specialized Welding Services — putting the full “One Solution for Your Success” approach to work from the start.

“The level of partnership that Turner has demonstrated in the few short months we have been working together is top notch,” said Ecolab Garyville Plant Manager Chris Rogers. “This is especially evident in the fast, dedicated, and competent response to the events we have seen here. This is recognized not just at a local level, but from our executive leadership.”

Turner Industries Supports Restoration of Louisiana State Capitol Standing 450 feet tall, the Louisiana State Capitol is the tallest state capitol building in the United States — an Art Deco skyscraper completed in just 14 months in 1932. Nearly a century later, Turner Industries is helping ensure this landmark stands strong for the next hundred years.

Turner Industries’ Equipment, Rigging, and Specialized Transportation Division provided crane and rigging support for ongoing structural cleaning and repair efforts at the Capitol in Baton Rouge — lifting scaffold materials and carefully removing exterior stone blocks with the kind of precision the historic structure demands.

“We are honored to play a role in the maintenance and preservation of such an important piece of Louisiana’s history,” said Jesse Morain, senior vice president of Turner’s Equipment Division. “It’s a project that requires our team to draw on decades of rigging experience to ensure the job is done with absolute care.”

Remote Dredging in Action When Turner’s environmental services group took on a sludge dredging and dewatering project for a facility in south Louisiana, the crew went to work without ever setting foot on the water. Operating a remote-controlled fleet from shore, the team navigated and cleared two ponds while eliminating the risks associated with over-water operations and direct exposure to pond contents.

The project also put Turner’s “One Solution” model to work. By pairing environmental expertise with Turner’s crane and rigging group, the team streamlined mobilization and equipment positioning — executing 10-hour shifts, six days a week from start to finish.

Turner Industries Takes Home Top Honors at ABC National Excellence in Construction Awards Turner Industries’ construction teams have been nationally recognized for their outstanding work, bringing home two awards at the recent Associated Builders and Contractors National Excellence in Construction Awards.

Turner was awarded the Eagle Award (National First Place) for its work on the BlueCAT Project in Port Allen, Louisiana, and the Pyramid Award (National Second Place) for executing the Magnolia Project in Huntsville, Texas.

Associated Builders and Contractors National Excellence in Construction Awards celebrate the most innovative and high-quality construction projects across the nation. For BlueCAT (Shell Catalysts and Technologies), Turner expanded the world’s largest refining catalyst plant by safely assembling 16 massive modules horizontally before executing complex vertical lifts. For the Magnolia Project, Turner crews navigated a 50-by-50-foot workspace inside an active facility. Highlights included a 21,000-pound reactor lift and 60 equipment installations, all completed with zero operational disruptions.

For BlueCAT (Shell Catalysts and Technologies), Turner expanded the world’s largest refining catalyst plant by safely assembling 16 massive modules horizontally before executing complex vertical lifts.

B U I LT O N T R U S T : Turner’s SIPA Team at OXEA Bay City Operating across a remote, multi-area facility, Turner Industries’ SIPA scaffolding team is an essential part of daily maintenance for the OXEA site in Bay City, Texas. In 2025, this tight-knit crew achieved more than 23,000 recordable-free hours.

Operating like a close family, this team supports each other on and off the job to overcome any logistical obstacle. The Turner Industries scaffolding team at OXEA Bay City includes Supervisor Marcus Rocha, Carpenter Joshua Fields, Apprentice Daniel Gonzales, and Lead Men Jesus Aguirre, Javier Paniagua, and Alex Ortiz. Together, they prove that no matter the challenge, Turner consistently delivers safe and productive results.

Turner Industries Partners with MPLX to Deliver Winter Warmth Turner Industries recently supported Marathon Petroleum’s midstream segment, MPLX, and the nonprofit organization Diné Ba’adeiti (For the People) in a winter firewood initiative across the Southwest.

Firewood has become an essential energy source for cooking and heating in hundreds of rural, off-the-grid homes within the Navajo Nation and Hopi Tribe across Arizona and New Mexico. To help meet peak winter demand, MPLX reached out to Turner Industries to assist with the heavy lifting.

Knowing that a single standard cord of wood can weigh up to 4,000 pounds, Turner Industries provided a skid steer to help load the logs. By using the skid steer, volunteers were able to reduce the loading time for five cords of wood from five hours by hand down to just 20 minutes. Thanks to the increased loading efficiency, the team successfully processed and delivered 16 cords of wood to the Cameron community in Arizona and another 30 cords to the Hogback Chapter near Shiprock, New Mexico.

“We’re aligned with MPLX in our vision of improving and growing communities,” said Turner Industries Senior Project Manager Michael Podnar. “We are proud to have played a role in MPLX’s incredible efforts and are thrilled that the equipment could help keep these households warm this winter season.”

Women in Construction Week, held annually during the first full week of March, honors the women who have built successful careers in our industry and encourages others to join the field. To celebrate the many women driving Turner Industries forward, we are proud to spotlight one of our very best.

Kerry Wiggins

Vice President of Health and Safety — Specialty Services Division Kerry Wiggins is a dedicated leader with 31 years at Turner and 36 years in the industry. Her journey began in 1989 as a safety technician, working directly with each craft to learn the business from the ground up.

Today, she leads with the conviction that safety must be planned into the success of every job.

What first drew you to the construction industry?

As a kid, I was always fascinated with the lights at the chemical plants — how they looked like a small city at night. I knew my dad worked out there, and I was always curious about what actually happened behind those fenced-in gates.

What is the most exciting safety innovation you have seen since the start of your career?

Drones and robotics have made a tremendous impact on our industry. When I started in 1989, I never imagined we would have cameras flying at heights and into confined spaces.

How do you think women will continue to shape this industry?

In 1989, women represented 5% of the workforce. Today, that number is 11.5%. I believe in the next 10 to 20 years, that number will double.

What advice would you give women considering a career in the industry?

Work hard. Conduct yourself professionally with honesty and integrity, and the sky is the limit.

John Nguyen’s career is a prime example of the growth possible within the company. Since joining the Turner team in 2014 as a quality technician at the Port Allen fabrication shop, John has consistently looked for ways to push his career further. Today, John manages quality protocols for Turner’s services at the BP facility in Whiting, Indiana, mentoring the next generation of inspectors and ensuring every job meets the Turner standard of excellence.

A Quick Q & A with John What are your main job responsibilities at the BP facility?

I oversee quality assurance and quality control for our operations at the BP facility. My day-to-day focus is on leadership: training site managers on our Quality Management Systems and making sure our workflows are safe, efficient, and site-specific.

What is it about the “Turner family” that has made this the right fit for you?

It is a place where we look out for one another and hard work is recognized with opportunities to grow. Most importantly, Turner has provided the stability I need to provide for my family and build a life I am proud of.

Why did you decide to make the move to Indiana with your family?

Moving to Indiana was about more than just a new location; it was the opportunity of a lifetime and a major career milestone. I wanted to take on a challenge that matched my ambition and show my gratitude to the leadership team that saw my potential.

What do you find most satisfying about your job?

Building programs from the ground up and creating systems that truly make sense is incredibly rewarding. Beyond the technical work, the most satisfying part of my job is watching my team develop into top-tier inspectors. Their growth pushes me to keep learning as well, challenging me to become the best version of myself every single day.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

One word: Family. Coming from an Asian background, family is the foundation of everything I do. Whether it’s sharing meals together, celebrating milestones, or just having simple conversations at home, those moments mean the most to me.

Turner Hosts American Welding Society Meeting in Pasadena Pasadena, Texas — Turner Industries recently sponsored an American Welding Society (AWS) monthly meeting at its Pasadena facility. AWS members and student outreach participants gathered for an evening event that included a presentation by Turner Industries’ Brian Daigle and a tour of the pipe fabrication facility. AWS regularly holds meetings in industry settings to connect its membership with real-world operations, and Turner was happy to open its doors for the occasion.

Striking Gold Salt Lake City, Utah — Turner Industries’ James Russell recently earned a Gold Medal in the ABC National Craft Championships.

Russell, a combo welder currently working at the ExxonMobil site in Baton Rouge, competed in the TIG welding category and earned top honors.

Turner Leaders Elected as Chairs of ABC Chapters Baton Rouge, La. — Michelle Hardy, vice president of public affairs and community relations for Turner Industries, has been elected chair of the Pelican Chapter of Associated Builders and Contractors — becoming the first woman to hold the position in the chapter’s history. Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Industrial Craft Competition Houston, Texas — Turner Industries continues to support the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Industrial Craft Competition. The ICC program challenges high school students enrolled in career and technical education programs to demonstrate industrial craft skills through both team-based projects and live individual competitions in welding and pipe fitting. Students from more than 20 Houston-area schools participated this year, and the Turner team assisted with registration, judging, interviews, and award presentations.

FFA Welding Competition Baton Rouge, La. — Turner Industries employees from the QA/QC group served as judges for the annual FFA welding competition hosted by the ABC Pelican Chapter, where approximately 20 high school teams competed in structural plate welding.

Citgo Lake Charles Crew Earns ABC Craft Credentials Lake Charles, La. — Congratulations to these Turner Industries employees from the Citgo Lake Charles Refinery who earned their credentials at the ABC Pelican Chapter’s SWTC Graduation: Jude Poncho (Heavy Equipment Operator), Kyle Davis (Welding III TIG), Sebastian Caldwell (Welding I), and Luke Queenan (Heavy Equipment Operator).

Fundamentals of Crew Leadership Baton Rouge and Lake Charles, La. — Turner’s workforce development team kicked off the new year with backto-back Fundamentals of Crew Leadership sessions — one held at the Turner personnel office in Sulphur for emerging leaders in the Lake Charles area, and another at Turner’s Highlandia location in Baton Rouge.

Both sessions utilized the NCCER curriculum, equipping frontline leaders with practical skills in scheduling, workforce planning, field reporting, resource control, and conflict resolution.

Ladies in Trades Inaugural Event Houston, Texas — Turner Industries participated in the inaugural Ladies in Trades event, a new ABC Gulf Coast initiative connecting women currently working in or with backgrounds in the skilled trades, with the goal of building a lasting professional network around shared field experiences — including work-life balance.

Turner Mentor Guides Robotics Team to World Stage Mandeville, La. — Turner’s corporate QA Manager Laura Meche volunteers as a mentor for the Mandeville Junior High School Robotics Team — Pyra Nova — which captured the FIRST Robotics Louisiana Championship this year and currently ranks 184 out of more than 5,000 teams worldwide after just two years of competition.

MLK Day of Service Baton Rouge, La. and Pasadena, Texas — Turner volunteers created “no-sew” fleece blankets for Sarah’s House, a Pasadena domestic violence shelter, which provides essential housing for women and families in need. Turner volunteers also worked together with the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank to fight hunger and give back to the communities where we live and work. Across the state of Louisiana, over one million meals were made for neighbors in need.

Running for a Cause: The Wheelhouse 5K Deer Park, Texas — Turner employees from the Pasadena office recently participated in and sponsored the first annual Wheelhouse Reclaim Run 5K, helping raise funds to support the mission of helping men break free from addiction and rebuild their lives.
