RESIDENTIAL REBATE REQUIREMENTS

Air Conditioner Replacement: $500 Rebate Receive a $500 rebate when you replace your existing central A/C or heat pump system with a new, energy efficient unit.

This program is for the replacement of existing residential central air conditioning or heat pump systems.

All systems must be installed in a residential dwelling receiving electricity from TID on a DE rate schedule.

Both indoor coil (evaporative) and outdoor unit (condenser) must be replaced on a split system.

Split A/C systems using water/evaporative-cooled condensers are eligible provided that the system has a current AHRI reference number and the system efficiency meets minimum program efficiency standards.

The size (cooling capacity) of the installed equipment may not be larger than: a. The nominal total capacity of the existing equipment. or b. Equipment sized in accordance with ACCA Manual J and Manual S criteria or ASHRAE load calculations shall be performed using design temperatures in accordance with California Residential Energy Standards maximum cooling capacity.

Exception: If the building department issuing the building permit has a more stringent sizing restriction, the building department sizing guidelines apply. Building department sizing guidelines may not be used to install equipment larger that the guideline given above.

This program is in effect until December 31, 2010. The installation date is defined as the date of “final approval” by the building department with jurisdiction. A completed application must be submitted to TID within 60 days of the installation of the system but no later than January 31, 2011.

TID reserves the right to cancel the program at any time. Contractors that have previously participated in this program will be notified by mail 10 days prior to program cancellation. Completed applications that are received by TID or postmarked by the cancellation date will be honored.

Additional A/C system(s) may be eligible for the program if load calculations demonstrate that the combined capacity of all existing air conditioners plus the additional A/C system(s) does not exceed the calculated load for the house.

Provide a copy of the invoice for the equipment and installation.

If the newly installed equipment has a total cooling capacity (nominal tons) greater than the existing equipment, a cooling load calculation must be submitted.

Complete and submit a rebate application. Provide a copy of “finaled” building permit. Provide system efficiency documentation certificate from the Air Conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI) at www.ahrinet.org.

Compact Fluorescent Light (CFL): $10 Rebate Receive a $10 rebate when you purchase new CFLs.

• You must spend at least $20 on ENERGY STAR® qualified screw-in Compact Fluorescent Lights (CFLs).

Room Air Conditioner: $50 Rebate Receive a $50 rebate when you purchase a new room air conditioner.

• New unit must be ENERGY STAR®.
