Tree trimming helps prevent outages
www.tid.org
With the winter months rapidly approaching, it’s important to take a look at the condition of the trees surrounding your home. Trees that are placed too close to power lines may create fire and safety hazards, as well as cause power outages. TID strives to provide safe, reliable electric service to residents and businesses throughout our 662 square-mile service area. We’re committed to protecting the safety of the public, our customers and employees. When trees or vegetation come in contact with power lines, they can cause power outages or fires. The state grants TID permission to
maintain its electric system, which includes clearing trees and other vegetation that may encroach upon overhead power lines and equipment, as well as pose a risk to public safety and service reliability. TID periodically trims or removes trees that are near power lines for public safety, fire safety, and outage reduction. However, TID is not responsible for trimming trees and vegetation from low voltage overhead service lines that connect to our customer’s homes and businesses. Trimming of trees and vegetation from these service wires is the customer’s responsibility.
Any attempt to trim a tree or vegetation around power lines can result in serious injury, or even death. If you have trees in or around your service lines, please contact TID. We will arrange to de-energize your overhead service line so this work can be performed safely. If you have any questions regarding tree trimming please visit www.tid. org/treetrimming or call (209) 8838335. If you would like to schedule a temporary disconnection, please call TID’s Service Division at (209) 8838301.
