They live in rocky areas, where, thanks to their hooves, they have great agility, even though they can sometimes be seen on lower lands, but only when food is scarce. This ruminant herbivore eats mainly weeds (grammineas, leguminous) throughout the Spring; and fruits (carob beans, acorns, berries) at the end of Summer; and during the Winter, they eat bushes such as rosemary, jaras and aulagas.

El rasgo más distintivo está en la cabeza, por la barba y el tamaño de los cuernos de casi un metro en los machos adultos frente a los escasos 25 cm en las hembras.
