5km Santa Run Start Line
CHRISTMAS FESTIVAL IS A GREAT SUCCESS £4500 raised for St Michael’s Hospice in Tupsley St Michael’s Hospice held its first ever Christmas Festival in December at Bishop of Hereford’s Bluecoat School. There were many stalls selling Christmas gifts and provisions but the centre piece of the event was a 5Km Santa Run for the over 11’s and a 3Km reindeer Antler walk for the under 11’s. The 5Km runners were given a Santa Suit to run in together with a bottle of water and a certificate at the finish. Each child was given a pair of reindeer antlers and a flashing red nose to do the guided 3Km walk accompanied by carol singers. Snow cannons ensured a white Christmas. At the finish was a winter wonderland where the adults could enjoy a free glass of mulled wine. 400 people attended the run or the walk, and over £4,500 was raised for the Hospice! That was pretty impressive for the Hospice’s first ever Christmas Festival. Look out for a repeat event next Christmas!
