A Beloved American Classic Comes Home
From July 24 to August 16, 2026, the Tulsa Performing Arts Center invites audiences into the John H. Williams Theatre for a vibrant new production of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Oklahoma!, presented in the spirit of its original Broadway staging, with the sweeping romance, warmth and musical richness that made it a defining work of American theatre.
Under the direction of Pete Otis, with music direction by Cathy Venable and choreography by Jen Alden, this original TPAC production leans into the full, classic experience audiences expect, including lush orchestrations, vibrant choreography inspired by Agnes de Mille’s groundbreaking original work and storytelling that honors the show’s roots while bringing it to life for audiences of today.
This production hits at the heart of what Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II created: a hopeful, expansive story of community, resilience and new beginnings. As Otis notes, the musical remains a “tent pole” of the art form — one that set the standard for how songs, dance and narrative could be seamlessly woven together.
From its intimate opening to its innovative dream ballet, Oklahoma!
established the blueprint for modern musical theatre, and this production celebrates that legacy.
Set in the early 20th-century Oklahoma Territory, the story follows the spirited romance between cowboy Curly McLain and farm girl Laurey Williams, unfolding against a lively backdrop of rivalry between farmers and cowboys. Alongside them, colorful characters like the irrepressible Ado Annie and the earnest Will Parker bring humor and the promise of a new land.
Leading the cast is Tulsa native Ruby Shadley as Laurey, returning home from an international performing career, alongside Conor Jordan as Curly, making his TPAC debut following acclaimed work across the Midwest. They are joined by Thesa Loving as Aunt Eller, who played the role in a national tour, Kasey Dillon Yeargain as Jud Fry, Grayson Schreiber as Will Parker, Becca Worthington as Ado Annie and Hassan NazariRobati as Ali Hakim, plus an ensemble that blends hometown pride with national experience.
Beyond the stage, each performance is designed as a true community event. Audiences can enjoy live preshow entertainment and optional add-ons like a classic Oklahoma-
style barbecue dinner, creating an evening that feels as festive and welcoming as the story itself.
Proudly part of the Route 66 Centennial, this production honors the traditions and shared history that connect Oklahoma to the nation. It’s a fitting backdrop for a musical that has, for generations, brought people together through its unforgettable score and enduring spirit.
Tickets are on sale now at tulsapac. com. Whether you’re revisiting a favorite or experiencing it for the first time, this Oklahoma! invites you to rediscover the original magic fullhearted, full-scale and right at home.
