CELEBRATING BAVARIAN CULTURE IN OKLAHOMA!

WELCOME!

Herzlich willkommen! Wir freuen uns, die vielen Vorzüge des Oktoberfests im Geiste der Gemütlichkeit mit Ihnen zu teilen.

Zeeco Oktoberfest now celebrates its 45th year in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Recently voted “America’s Best Oktoberfest” by USA Today, Tulsa first held a festival along the banks of the Arkansas River in 1979. Always true to its Bavarian roots in Germany, the first festival was a celebration of good food, beer and being with friends and family.

The essence of Zeeco Oktoberfest hasn’t changed; however today we celebrate on a much larger scale and are recognized internationally. Most foreign visitors will tell us that they find Tulsa’s Oktoberfest to be as authentic and enjoyable as Munich’s Oktoberfest. I’m sure Kaiser Ludwig I and Königin Therese would be proud to know that the Theresienwiese celebration continues more than 200 years after their wedding – even in Oklahoma!

Where a few hundred gathered in 1979 at a small, one tent event, our celebration now brings tens of thousands together in song, dance and conversation featuring München-style tents, arts and crafts, games, contests, beer barrels and the aroma of bratwurst, potato pancakes and much more. I can promise you that if you come to Zeeco Oktoberfest Tulsa with family, you will be making life long memories, and if you come with friends, you will surely make new friends too.

Ignited by the German American Society of Tulsa, and especially those who founded the organization, Tulsa Oktoberfest, Inc. moved to its current site in 1982 and organized in 2000 as a not-for-profit corporation to benefit the River Parks of Tulsa. With the opening of Zink Lake and further development of Tulsa’s River Parks trail system and amenities, Oktoberfest’s financial support has played an integral role in Tulsa’s growth and success.

This year, we welcome Zeeco as our Title Sponsor and celebrate our new ranking as America’s Top Oktoberfest Celebration! As a community organization supported by volunteers who deeply care about German culture and tradition, it is a privilege to be part of the team and to support this annual six day event.

Please join me in raising a Stein for Zeeco Oktoberfest Tulsa, our 45th, and Gemütlichkeit!

Thanks, Mike Dodson, CDO Tulsa Community Foundation (918) 494-8823 TULSAOKTOBERFEST.ORG

GEMÜTLICHKEIT

(CORPORATE NIGHT)

One of Tulsa’s most anticipated events of the fall is Tulsa Oktoberfest’s signature fundraiser, Gemütlichkeit (ge mōōtlik kīt). Gemütlichkeit was introduced decades ago to recognize and thank supporting media and festival sponsors who were often unable to enjoy the festival as patrons. Gemütlichkeit quickly became a corporate networking event like no other, with patrons reserving tables, Munich-style, to share community and good will over traditional German food and drink. The evening is often referred to simply as “Corporate Night.”

Gemütlichkeit is the main fundraiser for Tulsa Oktoberfest, Inc., a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization whose mission is to produce an authentic celebration of German folk heritage that will enhance Tulsa and its River Parks. Since the inception of Tulsa’s Oktoberfest in 1979, the festival has benefited River Parks Authority, a Public Trust and 501(c)(3) not-forprofit organization.

Bill Brill is a Naïve/Folk Artist from Tulsa, OK. Bill’s subject matter varies from 21st Century urban scenes, fantasy landscapes, romantic settings, and whimsical scenes designed to pull the art viewer from across the room and in to the painting. Bill’s Naïve style of painting often uses bright colors, and disregard to scale, size, and dimension of objects in the painting.

“My pleasure in painting is to leave viewers with a smile, giggle, warm fuzzy feeling, or a reflective moment...if I continue to achieve that, I will never put my paintbrushes down”.

Bill’s work has been displayed at various public art venues including: Bill W. Dodge Galleries in Carmel, CA; and Cannon Beach, OR; Arabella Gallery in Astoria, OR; M.A.Doran gallery in Tulsa, OK; Tulsa Mayfest Invitational Gallery; Tulsa Living Arts Gallery; Buck Atom’s on Route 66; Utica Square Art in the Square; Josh Stout Gallery in Red Fork OK, and is part of the Mapleridge Art Collaborative shows in Tulsa each year. A solo collection of Bill’s works was recently displayed at WOMPA Gallery in Tulsa. Bill’s Art is auctioned at several local non-profit fund raisers each year.

The commemorative poster is sponsored by the German-American Society of Tulsa (GAST). Poster printing sponsored by Western
