The change in Mr. Lyon’s ability to express his thoughts came through education. That education wasn’t given to him. He took it! He claimed it and he moved himself forward…while in prison…while he waited in uncertainty. What a story of success amid a horrific experience. The same holds true for people today. Education is key and we have a duty to help provide resources and lead people to them. Where there is a desire for education, it will not be stifled, and we need to be people who facilitate learning.

Bob Parsons, an entrepreneur who founded GoDaddy along with several other successful ventures, has “My 16 Rules for Success.” One of those rules is, “Anything that is measured and watched, improves.”

Over the last several years, the Executive Committee for the Tulsa County Bar Association has applied this thought process to its management. The Executive Committee has increased benefits for its members, closely inspected the financial statements to make improvements in reporting and spending, and in partnership with the Tulsa County Bar Foundation, brought to fruition the remodeling project that was envisioned several years ago. We have watched, we have measured, and the TCBA has improved.

Program so we can direct people with a need to an attorney who can help, and we have adopted technology to reach more attorneys with continuing education (which is still free with your membership, by the way).

Additionally, our committees are already significantly contributing to the community. For example, Mac Finlayson chairs our Pro Bono Committee and with his guidance and efforts (as well as members of his firm and committee members), people in our community who face eviction because they don’t have access to resources, are helped.

This year, I’d like to make sure that as an association of attorneys, we focus on sharing information. We need to educate our community by assisting individuals in need. We have already begun joint meetings to create synergy for committees in focusing efforts. We are just beginning!

I am excited about this year. The projects that we begin now won’t be finished before the next President steps into this role, but hopefully, the work we start this year will make a difference. They say that if you can’t be a good example, you should be a horrible warning. With your help, this year will be the former and not the later.

So, what is next? I would humbly suggest that Let’s make a difference together! given our known resources the possibilities are endless.

ASK-A-LAWYER 2021 UPDATE In final discussions with the OETA, here are their own personal requirements for the attorneys attending the AAL program:

The OETA will check temperatures at the door;

Utilizing the large board room at the OETA, these phones will be at least 6 feet apart and more likely 10 feet apart.

Mask are to be worn ONLY entering and exiting the building (or leaving the Boardroom for bathroom breaks); Once inside the Board room where the phone banks are, NO MASKS are required.

We will only use 6 phones at a time in Tulsa; OKC will be limited to 12 phones. (what this means is we will be busier than usual with less attorneys participating Statewide. This is why we need every seat filled for the Tulsa 6 at all times) Here are the slots I need help with: 9-11am-----------FULL 11am—1pm------2 slots available 1pm—3pm-------2 slots available

When a volunteer’s shift is over I will switch out the handset (in front of you) by attaching a previously unused handset.

We have enough spare handsets to last till late afternoon; after that I will personally sanitize (in front of you) previously used handsets until you are satisfied.

Food and drink will be provided by the TCBA/TCBF as always. I encourage anyone with concerns to contact me; we want everyone who comes to feel safe and BE safe.

Golden Rule Award 4th Quarter

Sadie Temple

We are pleased to announce that Sadie Temple has been selected as our 4th Quarter Golden Rule Award recipient.

Sadie currently serves as an Assistant Public Defender in Tulsa County working in the family division, representing minor children involved in domestic litigation with allegations of child abuse and neglect. Previously, Sadie worked as an attorney for Domestic Violence Intervention Services in Tulsa, representing victims of domestic violence in divorce proceedings.

Sadie is a young lawyer who is a zealous advocate. She is well-prepared, professional, and courteous. She attempts to resolve problems efficiently and amicably, but is a skillful litigator when a hearing is required. Sadie is dedicated to her work and her family, finding a balance for both. It is our pleasure to recognize Sadie’s outstanding legal service, and her commitment to civility, professionalism and advocacy.

Gary C. Clark Distinguished Service Award

Philip Hixon Philip Hixon is a GableGotwals shareholder with almost 20 years of litigation and contract negotiation experience representing clients in a variety of legal matters including healthcare, construction, business counseling, and general civil litigation. Philip also serves on the board of Morton Comprehensive Health Services. He is a past board member of Tulsa Habitat for Humanity and Rebuilding Together Tulsa and a past member of the Will Rogers Memorial Commission.

Philip has held several offices in the Tulsa County Bar Association; he chaired the Health Law Section, served as the Treasurer, and now serves as the Vice President. The TCBA previously recognized Philip as its Outstanding Young Lawyer and President’s Award recipient in 2003-2004.

Philip is now being honored with the Gary C. Clark Distinguished service award. This award recognizes those few individuals who have, over the years, donated their time and talents to the Tulsa County Bar Association, above and beyond what others do.

The Award is “…for extraordinary service to the Tulsa County Bar Association and contributions to the Legal profession.”

This is certainly well descriptive of Philip. Philip has consistently demonstrated an uncompromising commitment to professionalism and ethical lawyering. His colleagues state that he reminds them of the prototypical community servant lawyer, who puts professional reputation and his client’s best interests ahead of ego and financial gain. He has always been dependable, excelled in his legal aptitude, invited challenging work and, importantly, treated his colleagues with respect and civility. Philip is the definition of team player – willing to accept and accomplish with exemplary outcomes the role that best contributes to the team effort. His generous investment of time and leadership with the Tulsa County Bar Association exemplifies his desire to be the complete lawyer and has brought him great satisfaction...giving back and enhancing the Association.

This past year, Philip spearheaded the development and organization of “Will Clinics” for first responders and their families. In the midst of the pandemic, Philip thought of those essential personnel on the front lines of every event in Tulsa. The clinics were advertised, provided appointment times and appropriate social distancing and other health care precautions.

Because of Philip, 92 first responders and spouses created or updated wills with the assistance of 15 generous and dedicated Tulsa Attorneys.

Those well acquainted with Gary Clark, validate that Philip’s selection will make Gary quite proud, as Philip demonstrates similar character and contributions as those Gary became known for.

Neil Bogan Professionalism Award

Richard D. White

Richard D. White, Jr. is a shareholder at the firm of Barber and Bartz. He is a graduate of the University of Tulsa College of Law and has been practicing in the Tulsa area for forty-one years. Rick is well versed in many areas of law, but his law partners believe beyond the practice of law, he’s most adept in the area of professionalism. Rick is a member of the Oklahoma Bar Association family law section as well as the TCBA family law section and is newly elected to the OBA Board of Governors and he continues to serve on the criminal justice panel for the Northern and Eastern Districts of Oklahoma which he has done for twenty-five years.

As a longtime native of Tulsa, Rick is very involved in the community. He has served on the Tulsa City County Library Commission for many years and presently serves as Chairman of the commission. Rick and his wife Judy enjoy their children and grandchildren, and they attend Evergreen Baptist Church where Rick serves in numerous areas. Rick gives of his time willingly to educate others and has presented at a local quarterly divorce seminar for more than a decade.

The Neil Bogan Professionalism Award is given in recognition of outstanding contribution to the legal profession and faithful adherence to the highest ideal of the profession.

Rick is a great attorney, but more importantly, he is known in the legal community for his honest, straightforward, and reasonable demeanor.

Rick is a sought-after mediator and practitioner and he has provided monthly professionalism moments for the Tulsa County Bar Association that highlight the need for civility among the practitioners in our profession.

Rick displays character in all that he does. Opposing counsel have said that Rick is what you want all attorneys to be. He fights for his client, but is professional while doing so. Rick is also a team player. He has been with Barber and Bartz for over 19 years. During that time, he has developed a reputation for being dependable and ready to help. Ron Barber says of Rick, “He is the consummate profession, and he has always been well liked and highly regarded by everyone in our firm. One of rick’s unique qualities is equanimity…he has an instinctive ability to instill calm in his clients and colleagues alike.” Similarly, Robert Bartz says of Rick, “In my opinion Rick possesses all of the great qualities of an effective domestic attorney.

Outstanding Senior Lawyer

S. Douglas “Doug” Dodd

For those TCBA members who are, shall we say, “more experienced in the Tulsa community,” we would know the TCBA’s Outstanding Senior Lawyer for 2021 by merely hearing his mellifluous voice. S. Douglas “Doug” Dodd spent fourteen years in radio and television journalism, including as News Director, Reporter, Anchor, Documentary and Public Affairs Producer for KOTV in Tulsa, as a reporter and Associate Producer for Documentaries for KTUL-TV in Tulsa and similar work in Rapid City, South Dakota. Over many years, Doug lent his rich voice countless times to the TCBA, other organizations, and candidates for various offices for numerous projects on a volunteer basis.

Outstanding Senior Lawyer Award...

Recognizing outstanding reputations as lawyers and for their dedicated service to their profession and to the community.

It is no surprise that with this background that Doug’s practice entails representation of national and local media companies in media and intellectual proper matters with an emphasis on First Amendment and defamation issues. He lectures to both attorneys and journalists on open meetings and open records issues and to legal administrators on social networking trends and concerns. Doug is actively involved in the Media Law Resource Center’s Defense Counsel Section and served as cochair of the MLRC’s national Pre-Publication/PreBroadcast Review Committee. He is a contributing author of the Media Law Resource Center’s Annual Survey of Oklahoma Media Privacy and Related Law. Doug was lead counsel for Harper’s Magazine in the case of Showler v. Harper’s Magazine Foundation and Peter Turnley, winning in federal district court, the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals and ultimately the United States Supreme Court. Doug served as Chairman of the Oklahoma Bar Association BarMedia Relations and Communications Committees and is a member of the American Bar Association’s Forum on Communications Law and Media, Privacy and Defamation Law Committee.

Doug graduated from the University of Tulsa in with a Bachelor’s degree in Speech: Radio and Television and subsequently obtained his Juris Doctor from the University of Tulsa College of Law. After he clerked with the Honorable James O. Ellison, United States District Judge for the Northern District of Oklahoma, before joining the law firm Doerner, Saunders, Daniel & Anderson, L.L.P. where he presently is an esteemed partner of many years. He serves the firm as its ethic counsel.

He is a veteran of the United States Air Force, Strategic Air Command where he served as a Deputy Missile Combat Crew Commander and Missile Launch Control Officer. Doug is a member of the Vietnam

Doug is actively engaged in several national and community organizations. He is past Chairman of the Board of the American Diabetes Association, Inc., and served on the Tulsa School Board from 19902001 including as two terms as President of the Board.

He serves on the Boards of the Foundation for Tulsa Schools, the University of Tulsa, College of Law Alumni Association, Citizen CPR, the Critical Link, and the Tulsa Central High School Foundation.

Doug is an ordained elder at Southminster Presbyterian Church where he sings bass in the chancel choir. He reportedly can do fair impersonations of JFK, Walter Brenan, Walter Conkrite, Ed Sullivan, and pirates.

He was a candidate for Oklahoma’s First District Congressional seat. Doug is the recipient of numerous awards including OBA and TCBA awards including awards for professionalism and public service, and is listed as a Super Lawyer and Best Lawyer.

How fitting it is that the recipient of 1975 Best Men of America award would in 2021 become the TCBA’s Outstanding Senior Lawyer. Honoring Doug with this TCBA award in recognition of his personal and professional life exemplifies the way that Doug Dodd practices law, serves and supports his country and his community on multiple levels throughout his life. Originally from Cleveland, Ohio, Pierre moved to Tulsa in 2014 with Teach for America, teaching students in the fourth-grade for three years. He then attended the University of Tulsa’s College of Law where he participated in various activities which including the Student Bar Association, where he served as President, Tulsa Law Review, American Association for Justice moot court travel team and the Public Interest Board, where he served as a Director. He was admitted to the bar in 2020 and is currently a Staff Attorney for the Housing and Re-Entry Teams at Legal Aid Services of Oklahoma.

Roger R. Scott Community Service Award

Catherine W. Hoopert Catherine W. Hoopert is this year’s recipient for the Roger R. Scott Community Service Award. Cathy has served as the chair of the Lawyer Referral Service Committee for seven years and in that time initiated and oversaw the transformation of LRS. TCBA has new, updated online processes for referrals that ensures participating attorneys are receiving equitable client calls from the system due to Catherine’s push for better technology. This system also allows TCBA to track all its referrals, whether they are attorney calls or calls to another different service provider. For the first time in LRS history, all calls from the community can be quantified for future grant applications. This shows the depths of which the TCBA Lawyer Referral Services reaches into the community and plays a huge roll in fulfilling the TCBA’s mission in keeping the legal system accessible.

Cathy is a seasoned lawyer with a diverse legal and business background. A solo practitioner, formerly AVP of Tax Services and Senior Trust Tax Administrator for the wealth management group of a regional banking institution, she has been engaged in the legal and accounting professions for over thirty years, having received her law degree in 2001. With an undergraduate degree in accounting, two of Catherine’s practice areas are estate planning and tax law. She enjoys the accounting aspects of cases that frequently intersect with or cross over into the legal profession and has represented numerous clients in many informal and formal settings, including various courts, mediation, State Tax Commission and the Internal Revenue Service.

Catherine received her Juris Doctorate, with highest honor, from the University of Tulsa College of Law. Included

in the numerous academic awards that she received are the CALI “Excellence for the Future” awards in five categories: Decedents’ Estates & Trusts; Federal Income Tax; Taxation of Corporations and Shareholders; Real Estate Transactions; and Legal Reasoning, Authorities & Writing. She also received the William H. Bell award for receiving the highest grade in Decedent’s Estates and Trusts, was named to the Who’s Who American Law Students for three consecutive years. She was on both the Faculty and Dean’s Honor Rolls, and a member of the Phi Delta Phi Honor Fraternity. Ms. Hoopert has professionally published a paper, used both in publication and for a seminar, entitled “Introduction to Tax-Exempt Organizations” and presented “Marshalling Assets” and “Handling Creditor Claims and Debt” for live seminar of Estate Administration from Start to Finish for lawyers’ continuing legal education.”

Catherine’s commitment to her career and community are also shown by her past and present involvement in other local, state and national organizations. She maintains her CPA credentials, is a member of the American Bar Association, Oklahoma Bar Association, Tulsa County Bar Association, Oklahoma Society of CPAs, and St. John’s Episcopal Church of Tulsa. She’s served with these, and other organizations in various capacities throughout her years of membership. She has received the Key Contributor award from the Public Service Company of Oklahoma and the Woman of the Year award from the Oil Capital Business & Professional Women’s Club.

The Faith Orlowski Animal Law Award

Paige Lovoi The Animal Law Committee established the Faith Orlowski Animal Law Award this year to honor Faith’s commitment to animals and her willingness to volunteer her time and skills to advance their welfare. It is presented to a law student member of the TCBA who is committed to advancing the welfare of animals.

This year, the award goes to Paige Lovoi.

Paige is a third-year law student at the University of Tulsa. She discovered her love for animals at a young age. Paige’s mom would say that wherever they went, animals would flock to Paige. Paige is a selfproclaimed cat person who has ended up with four unruly street dogs.

When struggling individuals need inpatient care but don’t want to leave their animals, Pause4Paws steps in and finds temporary foster homes and veterinary care for the animals. Paige has been one of Pause4Paws’ go-to foster moms because she poured love onto the most difficult foster pets, as well as her own pets, even as she labored away in law school. It is in fact, caring for her animals that has helped during the most challenging times.

In addition to taking law school classes, fostering pets, and caring for her own animals, Paige served as the 2020-2021 President of TU’s Paw Law, a law student group that is affiliated with the Animal Legal Defense Fund and shares its mission to protect the lives and advance the interests of animals through the legal system. • To receive or renew your badge for the 21-22 year, pay the $50 fee, and return your signed and notarized oath to TCBA. • Badges will be valid 09/01/21-08/31/22 • Non-TCBA members may also submit a signed and notarized oath and payment of $150. President's Awards Mac Finlayson When I stepped down from chairing the Pro Bono Committee I reached out to Mac because I knew if anyone could take over the program he could. Mac has now served as the Pro Bono Committee Chair for 3 years and the program is still going strong. Mac has worked tirelessly this year making sure renters were protected during the pandemic. This year C.A.P. assisted with 138 cases and 87 CDC Declarations. Our volunteer attorneys donated the equivalent of 121 billable hours totaling $45,675.00. Mac has also been able to expand the program into Creek County. Mac has graciously agreed to continue as the Pro Bono Committee Chair next year.

Lizzie Riter Lizzie is one of our newer members to the Board.

Lizzie is a dedicated and enthusiastic member of the TCBA. She was the CLE Committee Chair from 2018-2020 and she was the recipient of the Young Lawyer Award in 2019. This year Lizzie served as the Tulsa County Bar Foundation Law Day Chair. She organized a phenomenal and well-attended Virtual Law Day Symposium. Lizzie excels and puts her heart into everything she does in everything she does.

Philip Hixon Philip is a member of the TCBA and the incoming President-elect. He is a shareholder with Gable Gotwals practicing in the area of healthcare and civil litigation. Philip is always one of the first in volunteering to assist with matters of the Executive Committee. This year I wanted a way to give back and show appreciation to our first responders and teachers by making free estate planning available to them. I asked Philip to take on this project. Philip immediately got on board enlisting 16 volunteer attorneys who organized this event to take place during Law Week. The volunteer attorneys provided free estate planning to 96 first responders. Thank you Philip for your dedication and professionalism.

Kara Vincent I first met and worked with Kara at the first “Think Pink” event back in 2012.

I’ve enjoyed working with Kara immensely these past years. Kara is dedicated to the TCBA and always willing to jump in and volunteer for projects.

This year was unique as the pandemic presented us with new challenges in that we were unable to gather in person.

A collaboration was formed between the Member Appreciation Committee and the Special Events Committee to provide an array of virtual member events all year long to keep everyone engaged and connected. Michael has been the Chair of the Tulsa Lawyer for 4 years. His level of professionalism and dedication is present in everything he does. If you have ever held a position that required a monthly article you may agree that topics are hard to think of, it is time consuming and those deadlines, well, they just sneak up on you. Submitting a monthly article is probably the most challenging aspects of being President.

It seems like every year the outgoing President tells the incoming President those exact words. Michael was very gracious with his time in assisting me with topics and edits this year and at the last minute I might add. I am forever grateful to him for his assistance.

The Paralegal Association Honors National Award Winners at Virtual Conference

Elizabeth H. Nellis, ACP, receives inaugural NALA Hall of Fame Award The Paralegal Association proudly honored several national award winners at the Annual Membership Meeting during the 2021 NALA Conference @ Home. The organization’s conference was held virtually with a record-breaking attendance of over 1,450 attendees.

NALA introduced a brand-new award at this year’s virtual conference. The prestigious NALA Hall of Fame Award recognizes long-time NALA members who have served on the NALA Board of Directors and/or NALA Committees and are being recognized for their leadership, dedication, and extraordinary contributions to NALA and its members. Five outstanding paralegals received this year’s inaugural award, including Elizabeth H. Nellis, ACP, of Jenks, Oklahoma.

Nellis has been associated with NALA since 1984. Since 2018, Nellis has been the Court Assistance Program Coordinator for the Tulsa County Bar Association (TCBA) Pro Bono Committee, having served initially as a volunteer since 2012, and subsequently as the Intake Paralegal for CAP Tulsa since 2014.

What is Medical Supplies Network Inc?

Hospitals in surrounding states send their surplus medical equipment and supplies to Rotary’s Medical Supplies Network, Inc. Each month approximately 8,500 pounds of medical equipment and supplies are shipped from our Tulsa warehouse to a developing nation somewhere in the world. MSNI also keeps some of this equipment for local use.

What will we do there?

Spend a few hours repacking small supplies and marking inventory sheets needed for shipping and customs. Nothing heavy, nothing hard. But this absolutely affects lives overseas.

While there, see what MSNI has in the warehouse. If you know of a need in your area MSNI can meet, let it be known. Most likely it will made available at no cost.

What kind of supplies & items will we be preparing?

GableGotwals wishes to congratulate Shareholder, Trent Shores, who was recently confirmed as a Tribal Supreme Court Justice for the Kaw Nation.

The Kaw Nation is a federally-recognized Indian tribe, organized pursuant to the Oklahoma Indian Welfare Act of 1936, Ch. 831, 49 Stat.

1967, codified in 25 U.S.C. 501 er seq., and operating under a constitution adopted by the Nation and approved by Interior on Aug. 4, 1990. The constitution also provides for a judicial branch, composed of a Supreme Court consisting of three justices, and such inferior courts as may be established by tribal law. The constitution provides that justices of the Kaw Supreme Court and judges of the inferior courts are selected by the Tribal Council and confirmed by the General Council.

The Justices and Judges of the Kaw Nation shall serve four (4) year terms beginning at the date of their confirmation in office and until their successor shall be duly confirmed and installed.

Chair Williams stated, “The Kaw Nation is very happy to appoint Trent Shores as a Supreme Court Justice to serve on our court. Mr. Shores experience in different avenues of law, especially Indian Law, was one of the deciding factors in choosing him to sit on the Supreme Court.”

“I am honored to serve as in this role for the Kaw Nation. I will be true to my oath to interpret the law in an impartial, fair, and just manner. I promise to adhere to the rule of law and uphold the highest of ethical and professional standards. The Kaw General Council’s confidence in me to fulfill the duties of a Supreme Court Justice is humbling and appreciated,” said Trent.

In his legal practice, Trent advises clients regarding complex litigation, Native American law and policy, cybersecurity, and high stakes government and corporate investigations. He represents clients in state, federal, and tribal courts at all stages in the litigation process, including at trial and on appeal. He has also testified before the United States Senate Committee on Indian Affairs and United States Sentencing Commission.

A former United States Attorney for the Northern District of Oklahoma, Trent is nationally recognized for his efforts to develop and implement strategic responses to Native American policy. A citizen of the Choctaw Nation of 34 Tulsa Lawyer

Oklahoma, he served as Chair of the Native American Issues Subcommittee charged with developing and guiding national policy for Indian Country justice and related matters. In that capacity, he established a national initiative to address the crisis of missing and murdered indigenous persons, and led a presidential task force investigating the Indian Health Service.

William Allen Bowles 1945 - 2021 Frank Hagedorn 1938 - 2021

Frank Morgan Hagedorn, 83, passed away at his home in Tulsa surrounded by his family members on July 10, 2021. He was born February 11, 1938 to Martha and Delmar Hagedorn in Morgantown, West Virginia. He came to Tulsa in 1956 to play football for the University of Tulsa. After graduating in 1962, Frank made Tulsa his home and began working as a school teacher, coach and police officer. Frank later attended the University of Tulsa School of Law and graduated with a law degree in 1968.

After completing law school, Frank served as an Assistant District Attorney and left when he was appointed as the Director of the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation. He remained an active member of the bar for over 53 years. Frank will be remembered for his love of country music, golf, and watching classic television. He loved playing his guitar and performing with his friends, and will be lovingly remembered singing to his children and grandchildren. He was compassionate about helping all who knew him and would always go the extra mile for those who needed him. He is preceded in death by his father, mother and his brothers Cecil Hagedorn, Samuel Hagedorn, Marshall Hagedorn and sisters Jacqueline Hagedorn and Amanda Butt. He is survived by his sister Maxine Mattern of Morgantown, West Virginia. He is survived by his wife Debra Hagedorn, daughter Michelle and son-in-law Brian Williams, daughter Brooke Gerber and son-in-law Beau Gerber and son Brent Hagedorn and daughter-inlaw Glory Hagedorn. He is also survived by his grandchildren including Isaak Rayburn, Ethan Johnis, Piper Williams, Noah Hagedorn, Gia Gerber, Ari Gerber and Arthur Hagedorn. He will be greatly missed by his wife, children, grandchildren and his many extended family members including nieces and nephews and his many friends. A memorial service was be held on Monday, August 2 at First United Methodist Church.

William Allen Bowles ascended to Heaven on Monday, August 2, 2021. He passed away peacefully at St. Francis Muskogee Hospital in Muskogee, OK. Bill was born on October 24, 1945 in Tulsa, OK, where he lived his entire life.

He was predeceased by his parents, William Thomas Bowles and Fern Allen Bowles.

Bill is loved and adored by his wife of 30 years, Becky Brawley Bowles; his son, William Thomas Bowles and his wife, Leah; his daughter, Tracey Bowles Graham, her husband, Allan and their two daughters, Maria and Haley; his two sisters, Susan Bowles Bell and Irene Bowles Earl; his stepson, Nick Williams, his two sons, Caden and Hunter and his wife, Deanna; and his beloved Papillon, Rusty.

Bill went to St. Francis Grade and Middle Schools, Bishop Kelley High School, spent two years in the seminary in Oklahoma City, served four years in the Air Force in Panama and at Richards-Gabaur Air Force Base near Grandview, MO, graduated from Tulsa University with a J.D. degree and was admitted to the Oklahoma Bar in 1980.

He was an attorney who cared more about helping his clients than collecting fees. His kind, compassionate heart and generosity defined him. He was ever loyal to his family and friends and was dearly loved by them in kind.

He was very much the intellectual with a sharp sense of humor. He made friends with everyone he met. Spending time with Bill was to engage in storytelling and laughter.

He loved his family and friends, animals, being outside and quietly communing with Nature.

He and Becky spent many hours in support of their community: educating others on the value of recycling, working in community gardens, volunteering for the Alzheimer's Association and participating in events for the VA.

Bill was someone whom others looked up to.

Someone who believed in equality, fairness, never being judgmental and helping in any way possible when someone was in need. He was inspirational.

We hold him dear in our hearts. He will be greatly missed and we will never forget him.
