Oren Griffin, Ph.D., J.D. became the first African American to lead the University of Tulsa College of Law on January 1, 2022. Dean Griffin completed his undergraduate education at Southern University in New Orleans and received a master’s degree from the University of Northern Iowa. He earned his law degree from Washington and Lee University School of Law and his Ph.D. from the University of Iowa. He is a nationally recognized leader in the field of higher education law and policy. Administrators, the National Association of College and University Attorneys, Stetson University College of Law National Conference on Law and Higher Education, the Alabama College System, and the International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Officers. In addition, his scholarly work has appeared in the Journal of College and University Law, the Law and Psychology Review, the Seattle Law Review, the West Education Law Report, and The Chronicle of Higher Education.
