the gay agenda
February 2024 zine
For February; The month of valentines, we present to you the queerest edition of this phenomena: THE GAY AGENDA, full of all the media we think you should indoctrinate your brain with. While art does not only come from queer people or spaces, the two are historically and inextricably linked. So here, we pull those spaces from the corners and give them the spotlight they deserve. Tell your artists you love them <3

Portrait of a Lady on Fire
Portrait de la Jeune Fille en Feu
Simply one of the most romantic movies of all time; a breathtaking illustration, or portrait rather, of the reciprocal female gaze which is seemingly dramatized but entirely raw and accurate in its intensity. Despite being a period piece, it illustrates how queer love can even now be equally as beautiful as it can be tragic by circumstance. This not only serves as a beacon of poignant queer representation but also as a magnifying glass of the love that can be cultivated in the empty, unoccupied space lingering between two people. Happy love month to the sapphic yearners and all who celebrate. 5/5 stars

Ské:kon, I’m Abby Ferguson and I’m of mixed Mohawk and settler
ancestry with ties to Akwesasne; beading is new to me and has helped affirm my Indigenous identity as a person who has grown up disconnected from Haudenosaunee culture.

It’s a whole new way of making art when you are making it with someone you love in mind and it’s another beautiful lesson beading has taught me. Hese are some of the many pices I’ve been lucky to mae for myself and all the people I love, while bead by bead I form a closer connection to my culture.
