"COACH" a title of love and respect that goes so well with this man. Even though he has only been a coach to a very few Sentinels he is lovingly called that by all Sentinels. Always there with a joke, good or bad; it helps if you're low. He is supportive to his students as well as his great teams. A winning Coach who pulls for everyone. That familiar figure running the mile out on the football field, playing lunch-time sports and playing basketball during his P.E. classes. He was always a patient teacher who would go over something with you until you understood it. And so to the friend of all Sentinels we dedicate THE SETONIAN 1978-1979 to •••.

CLASS 7979 ••••

C 0 A C H E D U L V E Y
REL I GION AND WORLD HI STORY TEACHER I

My Dear Most Reverend Bishop Rausch

Mr. Trane and Faculty

Parents of the class of '79

Freinds and Alumni of Seton High and most important you, the graduates of 1979.

I would like to express to all of you how priveledged I feel in being asked to address you on your graduation.

As you know, Seton High holds a very special place in my heart, and you, the class of '79, the last class I taught as freshman, also share a very special place in my heart.

As I ponder the question of what to speak to you about, many topics crossed my mind. Some of these were very worldly, and the typical commencement address, where much is said about topics quite removed from most high school students. It is mostly given to impress the audience with the speakers views rather than be meaningful to the graduates. I could not bore you with a talk on subjects such as these, rather, the idea came to me of a subject that perhaps best exemplifies you and is not understood today, quite the way you as a class understand it. That subject is LOVE.

Love is a strange thing. It like a flower, so delicate that a touch will bruise it, and so strong that nothing will stop its' growth. Think of how often we miss love in a lifetime by a wrong gesture - by an unspoken word, by not keeping silent at the right time. We lose it by the interference of other people; by a lack of money; by a quarrel over a trifle; and we cannot live without it.

I remember as starry eyed freshmen, you showed the love for your parents sacrifice in sending you to Seton, by your attentiveness in the classroom.

I remember as former athletic director, the love that you showed the male and female athletes representing you in sports by your avid support wether they won or lost.

I remember our freshman day of Recollection at South Mountain and the love of Christ as shown by your concern and sharing the promise of Calvery at His Eucharistic Banquet Table.

Even though I was removed from the scene, by my cancer, at the close of your freshman year, I have kept in touch, and I find that the same sense of love, was visably noticeable through out your upper-class years.

I also know that this same quality, of love, fostered and nurtured by your faculty at Seton High will follow you on to whatever the furure holds for you. It has become an inseperable part of you. The environments you find yourselves in will be richer because of your presence.

I would be remiss if I didn't tell you how your love has personally helped cope with my problem, with your love, concern and prayers you have made :y life richer for having known you and being loved by you. I remember, an wear with pride the letter sweater you gave me as a visual token of love. me I

have heard from Fr. Joe Ladensack of the love and sharing you had on retreat. I remember the love you shared with me on your hospital visit to me, in your

baseball and softball uniforms. I remember the love you showed me at the surprise birthday party, and all the other little things like cards, and phone calls. I mention these things so the invited guests here tonight can see that love isn't something you heard about, but that it is a very real part of you. You have taken the words of Christ, "Love on another as I have Loved You," and made it a part of your daily lives. This I feel is what makes you an outstanding class of graduates and makes me, your parents, and friends so very proud to be here tonight to share your joy in graduation exercises.

k thank You t he class of '79, for the personal priveledge Again, I would li e to of having a small part in making this your graduation a memorable night.

In closing I would ask that you stand and face your proud parents and friends, as I read a short poem taht

as I read a. short poem that I feel best expresses my feelings about you the class of 1979You don't have to tell how you live each day· I You don t have to say if you work or play; A tried, true barometer serves in the place, However you live, it will show in your face.

The false, the deceit that you bear in your heart will not stay inside where it first got a start; For sinew and blood are a thin veil of laceWhat you wear in your heart, you wear in your face.

If your life is unselfish, if for others you live, For not what you get but how much you can give;

If you lo

If you live close to God in his infinite graceYou don't have to tell it, it shows in your face.

Vaya Con Dios mi Amigas Y Amigos.

Coach Ed Mulvey passed away February 26, 1979. We Love You Coach!!!

May he rest in peace.

Amen.
