WHY Africa
SHARE UNFORGETTABLE WILD MOMENTS
There’s something about sharing a safari that makes the experience even more powerful. Watching the first rays of light hit the savanna as a pride of lions stirs, catching sight of an elephant family at a waterhole, or locking eyes with a gorilla in the wild—these are the kinds of moments that bring people together.

CHASE YOUR PASSION TOGETHER
Africa is the perfect place for groups who want to explore shared interests. Tee off on a golf course with giraffes in the distance, spend the morning tracking rare birds, or cast a line in some of the world’s best fishing waters. Food lovers can dive into local flavors with hands-on cooking classes and market tours, while wine enthusiasts sip their way through the Cape Winelands. If relaxation is the goal, there’s no better setting for yoga at sunrise or an open-air spa treatment with nothing but nature around you.
RELAX IN STYLE
Africa’s lodges, tented camps and private villas make group travel effortless. Spacious, beautifully designed, and set in breathtaking locations, they feel like a home away from home—only with better views and a team to take care of everything. Spend the afternoon by the pool, gather for long, laughterfilled dinners, or end the night around a fire, swapping stories under a sky packed with stars.

EMBRACE ADVENTURE
No two days in Africa are the same, and that’s what makes it perfect for groups. One morning, you might be tracking rhinos, and the next, you’re floating over the savanna in a hot air balloon. While part of the group sets off on a bush-walk, others can relax with a spa treatment overlooking the plains or learn to cook traditional dishes with a local chef. Every day brings something different, and everyone gets to experience Africa in their own way.
CELEBRATE IN THE MOST EPIC WAY
If you’re marking a milestone, there’s nowhere better. Raise a glass on a private beach, cut a birthday cake in the middle of the bush, or exchange vows with zebras grazing in the background. A family reunion, a big anniversary, a corporate retreat—whatever the occasion, Africa makes it extraordinary. The mix of adventure, beauty, and unique experiences turns every celebration into a story that will be told for years.
IMMERSE IN CULTURAL EXPERIENCES
Traveling as a group in Africa opens the door to powerful cultural connections. Learn about the continent’s many diverse ethnic groups and their fascinating traditions—from music and dance to storytelling and cuisine. Shared experiences like visiting local villages or joining community celebrations deepen your understanding and appreciation of Africa’s rich cultural tapestry.

WHAT TO CONSIDER For Your Group
Organizing a group safari can be incredibly rewarding—but it can also feel overwhelming at times. We’re here to make the process seamless, but here are a few helpful things to think about as you begin putting the pieces together.
WHAT KIND OF GROUP IS IT?
Is this a close-knit group of people who already know each other—like a multi-generational family or group of friends? Or are you hoping to gather like-minded travelers around a shared interest? This will shape how the trip is designed and communicated.
WHO IS TRAVELING?
Knowing how many people are joining—and the mix of ages, especially if children are coming— helps us recommend the right accommodations, activities, and pacing.
WHERE TO GO, AND WHAT KIND OF SAFARI?
Do you already have a destination in mind? Are you looking for a classic safari perfect for firsttimers, something more off-the-beaten-path, or a trip with a specific wildlife focus like gorilla trekking or birdwatching?
WHAT STYLE OF LODGING FEELS RIGHT?
From luxury lodges and tented camps to exclusive-use villas, the type of accommodation plays a big role in your experience. What comfort level and style suit your group? Some travelers enjoy mixing it up to add variety and flexibility.

WHAT ACTIVITIES WILL MAKE IT SPECIAL?
Are there special interests or experiences your group is excited about—like wine tastings, walking safaris, cultural visits, or conservationbased activities? We can tailor the itinerary to match what matters most to you.
WHAT IS THE BUDGET?
Have you established a budget for your group? We can help set realistic expectations and design an itinerary that includes the perfect balance of accommodations, meals, in-Africa flights, and unique experiences—tailored to fit your group’s preferences and budget.
WHO WILL HOST THE GROUP?
Would you prefer to host the group yourself, or would you rather have a dedicated travel director traveling with you to ensure everything runs smoothly from start to finish? Either way, you’ll be supported by expert local guides throughout the journey.
HOW WILL PAYMENTS WORK?
Will one person be managing payments for the group, or will each traveler pay individually? We’ll guide you through deposit amounts, payment schedules, and cancellation terms so everything is clear from the start.
NEED HELP WITH FLIGHTS?
Will everyone be flying from the same city, or arriving from different places? Do you need help arranging international flights? We’re happy to assist with flight planning to make sure everyone arrives seamlessly and on time.
WHAT IS YOUR PAST GROUP EXPERIENCE?
Have you organized a group trip before? Has this particular group traveled together? Reflecting on what’s worked well—and what you’d like to do differently—would give us valuable insights to help make this trip a success.
FREQUENTLY Asked Questions
1. HOW MANY PEOPLE DO I NEED FOR A PRIVATE GROUP SAFARI? 10 guests or more constitutes a group.
2. HOW CAN WE ARRANGE A CUSTOM GROUP ADVENTURE THROUGH AFRICAN TRAVEL?
There are multiple ways to organize a custom group safari with us. The easiest option is to take over one of our scheduled group departures—either an Escorted Safari, where the cost of a group escort is built into the price, or a Locally Hosted Small Group Journey. Both options offer seamless planning, secured room allocations, and favorable booking terms. For a fully tailored experience, we can design a custom itinerary that aligns with your group’s travel style and interests.
3. CAN I CHOOSE THE DATES FOR MY GROUP SAFARI?
If you take over a scheduled departure, the travel dates are fixed. However, for fully custom groups, we can arrange an itinerary around your preferred dates, subject to availability. Simply let us know your ideal time frame, and we’ll tailor the itinerary accordingly.
4. HOW MUCH FLEXIBILITY DO WE HAVE IN CUSTOMIZING THE ITINERARY?
You have complete flexibility with fully customized itineraries—from destinations and accommodations to activities. If you take over a scheduled departure, the dates and accommodations are set, but we can adjust activities to suit your group’s interests. Additional pre- and post-safari extensions can also be arranged.
5. CAN WE CHOOSE THE TYPE OF ACCOMMODATION FOR OUR GROUP?
We offer a range of accommodations, including luxury lodges, safari camps, and exclusive hotels. Our set departures use some of the most sought-after lodges and camps in prime locations, such as Sabi Sabi Bush Lodge in the worldfamous Sabi Sands Game Reserve. For custom groups, we curate options based on your preferences and budget.
6. WHAT SIZE CAN OUR GROUP BE?
Group safaris start with 10 travelers. When taking over one of our set departures, room allocations are larger, ranging from 12 to 20 guests, depending on the itinerary. Larger groups can be accommodated based on a custom basis. No group is too large.
7. WHAT IS THE BEST TIME FOR A GROUP SAFARI?
Most safari destinations in Africa are great year-round. June to October is the high season while traveling during the shoulder season offers fewer crowds and great value.
8. WHAT IS THE BEST DESTINATION FOR A GROUP SAFARI?
The best destination for your group safari depends on your group’s interests and the experience you’re looking for. South Africa, Kenya, and Tanzania are top choices, offering incredible wildlife, luxurious accommodations, and a range of safari experiences. However, we offer experiences across 14 African destinations and can accommodate various group requests.
9. CAN WE HAVE A DEDICATED GUIDE FOR OUR GROUP?
Your group will have a dedicated local guide in each destination. In Southern Africa, guides are typically based at each location and do not travel between destinations with the group. However, in East Africa, when traveling between destinations by road, the same guide usually accompanies the group throughout the journey.
10. WILL WE HAVE AN ESCORT ACCOMPANYING THE GROUP?
This is up to you. Groups often prefer to have their own escort or group leader. If you take over one of our Escorted Safari departures, the cost of an escort is already included. We can also arrange a dedicated tour manager to accompany the group if desired.
11. ARE MEALS INCLUDED IN THE GROUP SAFARI PACKAGE?
Most meals are included in our group itineraries, including specialty dining experiences such as GOLD Restaurant in Cape Town. We can also arrange meals to match specific culinary preferences. On safari, all meals, and in many cases, beverages are included.
12. WHAT ACTIVITIES CAN WE DO AS A GROUP?
Groups can enjoy a variety of activities, including game drives, walking safaris, boat trips (in certain destinations), cultural experiences, and more. Activities can be tailored to suit your group’s interests, whether focused on wildlife, photography, food and wine, history, or cultural immersion. For multi-generational families, we ensure that activities accommodate all ages.
13. CAN WE ORGANIZE SPECIAL EVENTS DURING OUR SAFARI, SUCH AS A CELEBRATION OR PRIVATE DINNER?
Absolutely! We can arrange private dinners, celebrations, and unique experiences like bush banquets and sundowner cocktails. Let us know your vision, and we’ll make it happen.
14. WHAT IF NOT ALL MEMBERS OF OUR GROUP WANT TO DO THE SAME ACTIVITIES?
We offer flexibility by providing alternative activities for those who prefer different experiences. We can also arrange smaller, specialized excursions within the group.
15. HOW DO I BOOK A CUSTOM GROUP SAFARI?
Booking starts with a consultation to discuss your vision for the trip. Once we understand your preferences, we will present the best options for your group. After approval, a deposit secures your booking, and we take care of the rest.
16. IS THERE A DEPOSIT REQUIRED TO SECURE A CUSTOM GROUP SAFARI?
Yes, a non-refundable deposit of USD $1,000 per group is required to secure your safari. This deposit is applied toward the final payment.
17. CAN WE MAKE CHANGES TO OUR CUSTOM SAFARI ITINERARY AFTER BOOKING?
We strive to accommodate changes, but modifications after booking are subject to availability and may incur additional costs.
18. HOW FAR IN ADVANCE SHOULD WE BOOK A CUSTOM GROUP SAFARI?
We recommend booking at least 12 months in advance to secure the best accommodations, guides, and safari dates— especially during peak seasons. If you take over one of our scheduled departures, the timeline can be shorter since room allocations are already secured.
19. WILL OUR GROUP MEMBERS BE THE ONLY ONES ON THE SAFARI VEHICLE? For private group safaris, the safari vehicle is exclusively for your group.
