FROM TORNADOS TO CAMPUS SHUTDOWN We have come this

far by faith.

Before you begin to read this newsletter, we ask that you please take a moment to say a special prayer for yourself, your family, our students, the city of Nashville and our entire world. Prayer is a spiritual disciplined way of life where we consistently communicate with God. During this unusual season, we all have the opportunity of time and space to strengthen our prayer life to deepen our relationship with Jesus Christ. It is so important for us to stay close to Jesus Christ during these trying times. While we may not gather like we use to; we encourage you to take this time to go deep inside and stay connected with Jesus Christ. Our focus this semester is to offer virtual opportunities to connect with a community of believers and seekers, so we may stay connected in ministry.

We are resolved to move forward with big dreams and teamwork! We are launching a new virtual platform and we invite you to connect and join us on this new journey. We have spent months in preparation, meditation and conversation.

We are ready to shift to an even more faith filled, creative, and evolving campus ministry. If you are reading this newsletter, then you are involved! Let us know how you want to connect. We are eager to hear what God is calling you to do during these times. Together, let’s continue to develop as disciples of Jesus Christ in a hurting world.

TSU WESLEY STAYING CONNECTED

Although our campus life has changed in this season of COVID-19, TSU Wesley leaders have developed creative and innovative ways to stay connected, stay empowered and to stay in Christ. You are invited to join us on this new exciting journey!

We are launching our TSU Wesley 615: Stretch Your Faith. Mind, Body and Soul

We will have a series of Instagram Live sessions and group zoom meetings that will include tips on how to remain balanced while in quarantine. These topics include staying healthy and active from home, overcoming anxiety and depression and how to stay spiritually sound.

TSU Wesley Stretch your faith will also include special guests to bring motivation and encouragement to the students. Online sessions continue with Chips N' Chatter with Kimberly "Brownie" Vaughn, an outstanding motivational speaker, author and coach.

An exciting line up of other special virtual events led by Wesley leaders will continue to connect us during these times when we need each other the most. It is crucial to maintain our fellowship with one another and know that we are in this together.

The Wesley leadership teams are positioned to launch a new season of innovation to launch our campus ministry to the next level!

We Will Win is the first of a series of inspirational music and messages to inspire and encourage our faith and fortify our hope. Please join us in participating with our campus ministry through our newsletters, website, webinars, social media platforms and pastoral calls aimed to help our faith remain steadfast.

We are steadily building a collaborative partnership among a consortium of campus ministries to highlight the leadership of young adults. Stay tuned as real-life faith stories are shared and leadership skills are strengthened. Together we will explore and implement strategies to address social justice issues plaguing our society. We will learn together the histories of our heritages, and the theology of love and liberation. Together we will demonstrate practical ways we can make our dreams of a better world a reality. As we continue to nurture relationships with our sister campus ministries, our goal is to build networks where we can share best practices and share resources.

The TSU Wesley Foundation's student led ministry, PURPOSE has been a major success. PURPOSE identifies young adults on our campus and in the community, and engages them on a journey to identify spiritual gifts, ignite passions for action in social justice, community service and leadership development.

Young adults engage in small group formation, and are consistently invited in a safe space to hear, explore, discern and respond to the call of God. Stay tuned to our Virtual Spiritual Retreats! You are encouraged to join us as we deepen our relationship with God by taking the time to still the noise around us and connect to what God is doing in our life and in the world.

BOYS TO KING + BUTTERFLY EFFECT

We continue our community service outreach program with Alex Greene Elementary school. The Boys to Kings and Butterfly Effect program has allowed our TSU Wesley student leaders to develop a mentoring bond and trusting relationship with the fourth-grade students of Alex Greene Elementary School. We will continue this outreach mission in community service this fall virtually. It will be an amazing journey for the TSU Wesley and all of the community partners as we work together to surround these young people with love and encouragement.

Please join us in thanking our former TSU Wesley Board of Directors, Elaine Jenkins, Tabitha Mundy and Newtonia Coleman who have dedicated their time and energy to the advancement of our ministry. Each Wesley Board member brought wisdom and direction to our ministry and we are grateful for their service. They will surely be missed. We are excited about the additions of new board of director members and the election of new board officers, who are dedicated to leading and supporting this campus ministry.
