NEW MINISTRY AT TSU WESLEY PURPOSE The TSU Wesley Foundation begins its new pilot ministry, PURPOSE this fall semester 2019. This new ministry will be student led, student driven and will increase our small group formation in spiritual development. We are excited about how this ministry will engage our partner local church congregations in meaningful community service with young adults. This ministry was recently awarded partial funding from the Young Clergy Initiative of the General Board of Higher Education of the United Methodist Church. PURPOSE will identify young adults on our campus and community and engage them on a journey to identify spiritual gifts, ignite passions for action in social justice, community service and leadership development. Young adults will engage in small group formation, lead in campus ministry and the local church, and be consistently invited in a safe space to hear, explore, discern and respond to the call of God. As a ten year partner with SBC21 ( Strengthening the Black Church for the 21st Century), we continue within the National Network of Young Adults and HBCU Campus Ministers and Chaplains to build a pipeline of principled young adults to ensure there are young African American clergy and lay leaders in the United Methodist Church. The PURPOSE participants will experience the love and grace of God, led by per young adult leaders in the equipping for ministry and community service. We are blessed to become a partner with GBHEM Young Clergy Initiative.

WESLEY TRANSFORMATIONS The TSU Wesley Foundation has been blessed with amazing student leaders that not only put in the time and effort to create a great space at The Wesley Foundation but who are also taking those work ethics into the communities to create a better future for themselves and the upcoming generation. The Wesley extends a huge thank you to our student leader, CarVaughn Page for all of his work as the Wesley Residential Advisor. After his graduation from TSU in the spring, CarVaughn recently completed an internship in Washington, DC. with the National Education Association.

The Wesley also extends a big warm welcome to the new Residential Advisor, Senia Hernandez. Senia has also served as photographer and grantwriter for the Wesley and recently completed a summer internship in Atlanta, GA. The TSU Wesley Foundation  stays the course to develop leaders who will transform the world!
"This summer I interned with Ken Weeden and Associates, which is a transportation planning firm that specializes in DBE consultations, or Disadvantaged Business Enterprises, based in Georgia and North Carolina. DBE businesses are minority owned companies that marginalized in the field of transportation construction in areas such as highways, airports, and much more. KWA Planning connects these DBE companies to construction projects During the month of June I worked at the Atlanta office and held the responsibility of creating presentations that would be shown to DBE companies that explained the need for diversity within construction. This reinforced my aspirations to become a city planner, specifically working to empower minority communities. I am beyond grateful for this experience and cannot wait to work closely with this company again!" - Senia Hernandez NEWSLETTER

TO OUR UMC FAMILY CAMPUS CARE PACKAGES
It is time for us to prepare again for our College Care Package Community Service Project. We send this message of thanks to you for helping us so generously with our mission in the past and as a request for your help with our next campus donation. Your contributions of items were so appreciated. College students enjoyed stuffing and delivering the care packages to college students who really needed the love and encouragement shown by the United Methodist church. A special thanks to the Red River District, Bellevue UMC, St. John Nashville UMC, Clark Memorial UMC, Dickson First UMC, Gordon UMC and individual UMC partners for your special contributions towards our campus mission projects. Words cannot express how fun it was to come and meet you personally to collect the items you generously donated. It was a joy to show our students the connection within the UMC! Â Together, campus ministry and local congregations can make a huge impact on the lives of young adults. If you would like to continue to be in this ministry with us, or maybe you can refer a Sunday school class a ministry group, or even specific families in your congregation that would find it meaningful to continue to collect items for our care packages, please let us know. Â We have enclosed the list again to share. We are happy you are joining us in this ministry!
