During a Hippotherapy session, a specially trained therapist uses a horse as a therapeutic tool to achieve the rider's therapy goals such as improving balance or muscle coordination. Why a horse? A horse's multidimensional movement provides therapeutic input as a means of improving coordination, balance, and strength. Our trained staff combines the movement with specific exercise activity to improve the rider's overall functional ability. Volunteers are the heart and soul of the Rein-Bow Riding Academy. WELCOME

Nestled just off of Interstate 40, Henderson County boasts seven beautiful lakes, the walking trails at Parkers Crossroads, lush farmland and Tennessee’s largest state park, Natchez Trace. These assets create the most sought-after outdoor paradise in the state of Tennessee Henderson County, founded in 1821, is rich in history with its downtown square located in the City of Lexington, our county seat. Here you can enjoy a variety of choices for local dining, shopping, banking or watching movies at the historic Princess Theater. Scotts Hill and Sardis lie in the southern half of the county and offer beautiful farmland with quiet country settings and friendly neighbors. These four cities complete our county, molding it into a community offering: a robust medical network, inspiring schools and a reasonable cost of living with progressive

T

thinking. We are intentional about preserving our genuine, small-town charm. If you are looking for a beautiful vacation experience, a place to relocate your business or the best place to raise your family, we invite you to visit, and we hope you stay. Welcome to Henderson County, TN!

HISTORY

Hist ory comes alive in local museum Where we have been ultimately dictates where we are going. Henderson County, established in 1821, is no different, having been named for Lt. Colonel James Henderson of the Tennessee State Militia. Begin your visit at Parker’s Crossroads, just off of Interstate 40 at exit 108. The visitors center, housing a small museum, displays artifacts from the Battle of Parker’s Cross Roads. You can walk the trails to re-live what it was like during the battle while viewing the cannons and visiting the McPeake Cabin. The first courthouse, built in 1822 as a small log house, was reconstructed soon after in 1827 with a brick structure built by Samuel Wilson. Since then, several other courthouses have been re-built on the current square in Lexington. Visit the Beech River Cultural Center & Museum to hear more exciting facts about the county. Sardis is home to the oldest existing original one-room log school/church and was built during the Reconstruction Era.

 Advanced pulmonary function studies  Case management  Rural health clinic services & referrals When you’re experiencing a health emergency, the last thing you want to do is wait. Emergency medicine is about three things: compassion, skilled care and speed. Henderson County Community Hospital knows the importance of prompt service – especially in the emergency room. For this reason, the hospital is committed to a 30-minute ER service pledge to offer patients quality care and to provide that care as efficiently and quickly as possible. The 30-minute ER service pledge begins the minute a patient checks in at the ER desk. A clinical professional (physician, physician assistant or nurse practitioner) will work diligently to initially see patients within 30 minutes or less of their arrival to begin evaluation and treatment. Henderson County Community Hospital records and monitors ER service as part of its ongoing quality improvement measures. While critical emergencies always receive first priority, the hospital’s goal is to treat every emergency in a timely, professional and caring fashion.

FAITH, SERVICE & SAFET Y

Service is a commitment that Henderson County offers to all of its communities and visitors. All strive for great health, comfort and happiness. Henderson County will definitely provide this trusting lifestyle. This is a community where the area ministers of separate denominations meet for lunch monthly. They host community worship services during Thanksgiving and Easter. “They work together for the good of the community and they really do like each other,” said Bro. Doug Northfleet, a local minister. “Henderson County is the model community for unity,” said Bro. David Beecham, another local minister. A secure place to live, work, play, pray and trade is of the utmost importance to those

looking to relocate. Providing for children, animals, those less fortunate and our elderly is merely a way of life. All these factors contribute to an excellent quality of life for residents. In addition, our local police, sheriff, emergency and fire departments have the highest commitment to keep our community safe.
