WELCOME TO DONELSON-HERMITAGE! There are many fun and exciting things to experience in our communities, so we hope you take full advantage of them, regardless of the season. For history buffs, we are proud to be the home of the seventh President of the United States, Andrew Jackson. His home, The Hermitage, has been carefully restored with most of Jackson’s original belongings, and the grounds tell the story of the Jackson’s livelihood, most specifically, The Hermitage Cotton Plantation. We also boast the Historic Buchanan Log House and Two Rivers Mansion, historic homes that you definitely want to see, as well as Clover Bottom and Belair Mansions. For those looking for a little more excitement, on the banks of the Cumberland River is the home of country music, The Grand Ole Opry. Take a tour, or better yet, take in a show. The Nashville Palace is right across the road, and has been the locale to launch many careers, like those of Lorrie Morgan, Ricky Van Shelton and Randy Travis. Who knows who might just pop in! Want to “shop till you drop?” We have that covered, as well. Music Valley Village offers unique entertainment and one-of-a-kind shops; Opry Mills offers name brand stores, designer options and
a kids’ play area. Whether it’s steak, seafood, breakfast or burgers, there is something at either Music Valley Village or Opry Mills to satisfy the palate of the pickiest of eaters. If you’re looking for other interesting eats, head over to the heart of Donelson. GOVERNMENT METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE-DAVIDSON COUNTY Donelson-Hermitage is a part of Metropolitan Government of NashvilleDavidson County (Metro). However, Donelson (Nashville zip code 37214) is part of the Urban Services District, with Hermitage (37076) being part of the General Services District. When the Metro government was formed in 1963, the government was split into two service districts—the “urban services district” and the “general services district.” The urban services district encompasses the 1963 boundaries of the former City of Nashville, approximately 72 square miles, and the general services district includes the remainder of Davidson County. Nashville is governed by a mayor, vice-mayor, and 40-member Metropolitan Council. There are five council members who are elected at large and 35 council members that represent individual districts. The Metro Council has regular meetings that are presided over by the vice-mayor, who is currently Jim Shulman. The Metro Council meets on the first and third Tuesday of each month at 6:00 pm, according to the Metropolitan Charter. Donelson and Hermitage encompass Council Districts 11, 12, 13, 14, and 15. TENNESSEE GENERAL ASSEMBLY Tennessee General Assembly is the state legislature of Tennessee. There are a total of 132 seats in the Tennessee General Assembly. Senate: The Tennessee State Senate is the upper house of the Tennessee General Assembly. It consists of 33 state senators who serve four-year terms. Approximately one half of the 33 seats in the Tennessee State Senate are up for election every two years. Senate Districts 18, 20 and 21 encompass Donelson-Hermitage. House: The Tennessee House of Representatives is the lower house of the Tennessee General Assembly. Ninety-nine members make up the lower chamber of the Tennessee General Assembly and meet at the State Capitol in Nashville. Representatives have two-year terms and all 99 are up for election in the same 2-year cycle. DonelsonHermitage is located in District 60.

It will include more than 500,000 square feet (13+ acres) of additional space and will require in excess of 62,000 dump truck loads to fill in a 50-foot depression.
BNA VISION FOR NASHVILLE INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT By 2041, the population of the Greater Nashville Area is expected to surpass 2.5 million people, and Nashville International Airport (BNA) passenger traffic will grow from 15 million today to more than 23 million. BNA Vision is the dynamic expansion plan designed to get in front this growth and maintain Nashville International as a world-class airport. BNA Vision is the type of innovative undertaking and bold planning that is needed to accommodate Middle Tennessee’s booming population and the airport’s record-breaking passenger increases. Nashville International Airport’s New Parking and Transportation Center Boasts: • Six levels and 2,200 parking spaces. • First floor to be a Ground Transportation Center for commercial vehicles. • Parking Space Guidance System. • EV charging stations. • Tire inflation station. • Capacity for 20,000 gallons of rain water harvesting for landscape irrigation. • Green-screen vegetation wall. • Pursuing Parksmart Bronze Certification for sustainable design, construction and operation. Terminal Apron And Taxi-Lane Expansion This project will accommodate construction of the new International Arrivals facility (opening in 2023) and will include paving
Concourse D And Terminal Wings Expansion BNA Vision will revive and expand Nashville International Airport’s fourth concourse, Concourse D, as well as enlarge the existing ticketing lobby and baggage claim areas. Estimated to be open during summer 2020, it will consist of: • A 115,000-square-foot Concourse D. • Six domestic aircraft gates to increase capacity to attract new airlines and services. • Dining and retail options. • A central utility plant. • 200,000 square feet of new space added to the north and south ends of the terminal. • Expanded ticketing lobby. • Four new baggage claim carousels. Terminal parking garage and airport administrative office building This project will include a six-level parking garage near the terminal, a new office building and public plaza that will consist of: • A 3,000-space terminal parking garage, which will be built in part of the footprint of the existing short-term parking garage (set for demolition later this year). • A 64,000-squarefoot airport administrative office building, which will replace the Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority’s existing office space on the fourth floor of the terminal, and provide space for the Transportation Security
Administration and other airport services. • A plaza on the fifth level. Completion of the parking garage is anticipated in late 2019, and the office building is scheduled for completion in Fall 2020. Terminal lobby renovation and International Arrivals facility This project will provide travelers an expanded and visually engaging central terminal, as well as a state-of-the-art International Arrivals facility that will replace the existing Interim International Arrivals building. The 440,000-square-foot project will include: • A terminal lobby, renovations to existing central terminal space and addition of a state-of-the-art International Arrivals facility. • Addition of sweeping roof canopy. • Expanded and consolidated security checkpoint with up to 24 screening lanes. • New central marketplace. • Natural light and compelling views of the airfield. The expanded and upgraded International Arrivals facility will include: • Six international gates to accommodate rising demand for international service, and attract new service to and from Europe, Asia, Latin America and more. • A new Customs and Border Protection area. Nashville’s Music Valley Nashville’s Music Valley stretches about a mile, flanked by a bend in the Cumberland River and the busy Briley Parkway. Since the 1970s, and still to this day, many folks also refer to this bustling tourist district as Opryland. And, of course, all of this wonderful geography lies in “hip” Donelson. The Mile of Music City fun starts at one end with Opry Mills Shopping, Dining and Entertainment Complex. Of course, the next couple of stops on the route need no introduction: The Grand Ole Opry and the Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center. Along the way on Music Valley Drive are some of the city’s most reasonably priced hotels with brands such as Holiday Inn Express, Fairfield Inn by Marriott, Courtyard by Marriott, Hampton by Hilton, Quality Inn and independently owned lodging like the Fiddler’s Inn and The Inn at Opryland. And we can’t forget our happy campers: Two Rivers Campground is one of the friendliest places to park your RV. While folks are staying in the area, many activities abound. One of Nashville’s most unique museums, the Willie Nelson & Friends
Museum and General Store is a highlight. It also boasts one of the largest souvenir shops in Music City. Grand Old Golf & GoKarts is literally fun for the whole family. Families can also play together at the Music City Escape game as well as “pick” a friendly fight at AxeVentures. Cooter’s Place in Music City is a 5,000-square-foot free tribute to the Dukes of Hazzard TV show and the beloved character of Cooter. You can really hit gold at Jae’s Gem Mining, and Madame Tussauds in Opry Mills is one of the areas most recent additions with stars so life-like you’ll think you saw them in person.

Speaking of seeing stars, you never know who you’ll see performing at the World-famous honky-tonk the Nashville Palace.
